Unfortunately I have to be in the Charlottesville area for Labor Day weekend.
I am not very familiar with the area. Does anyone know a Hokie friendly sports bar or a good place to watch the Bama game?
UVA plays at 3:30pm that day against BYU, while the Hokie game is at 5:30pm. I just want a good place to watch the VT game and have some food and beers.

You can probably watch anywhere, I doubt UVA people even know they have a football team.
Gross. Sorry I have no suggestions other than hopping on 64 and driving for at least an hour in either direction.
See if you can convince InEnemyTerritory to invite you over?
I'd definitely do BW3. Ms. Territory has hinted that I should go there to watch Tech games in the past (she thinks I'm loud and obnoxious during Tech games, obsessed with football in general, and Tech in particular. And she's right. But I paid for the tv, so I'm watching it here, dagnabbit!). I'd extend an invitation, but Mrs. Territory is the event planner. That falls above my pay grade.
I figure a Buffalo Wild Wings will have it on since its on ESPN. They say on their website "If you want to watch it, We'll put it on. Home While Your Away."....
I figure by 5pm, the UVA fans will be leaving the bar to head to a wine and cheese party, freeing up all the TV's for me...
I've watched the Hokies at Wild Wing Cafe before. It was mostly a pro-Tech crowd on the day I was there.
was gonna post this, i live about a half hour from "the grounds" and wild wing cafe is surprisingly hokie friendly. plus they got pretty good wings.
Just about take 64 to this road called I-81, head South for about 2 hours, and get off at exit 118B. I hear there are some Hokie friendly sports bars and places to watch the game around there. :D
My house! ... except I'll be in Hotlanta.
As mentioned above, Wild Wing Cafe is a solid option. It's the closest thing to a sports bar this town has. I would not bother going to BW3, I find it be on the stabby side at times.
I would also look at hitting Citizen Burger Bar. Food is a little bit more expensive than Wild Wing Cafe, but it's got a decent atmosphere and beer list.
How long will you be in town?
Scott Stadium
Only when Hokies are playing there.
I am coming in on the evening of August 30th and leaving on September 1st.
I did see Wild Wing Cafe when I was google searching...but here is what they say on the website:
THE HOME OF UVA ATHLETICS & CHARLOTTESVILLE'S #1 SPORTS BAR!
I suppose I could go there for the UVA game and root against them, get a good table and be primed for the big game at 5:30.
I don't mind sitting in a pro-UVA crowd...it would probably be pretty good comedy.
I've been a few times and it doesn't seem to be a place where a lot of students go. To me, it seemed like mostly townies who were either fans of VT or a handful of other teams.
Totally agree with ya. Most students will be somewhere on the corner (eg: Boylan Heights) or even McGrady's on Preston.
I wouldn't go to Buffalo Wild Wings that place gets a little sketchy at night, someone got stabbed there last year. Wild Wing Cafe is probably the best place to watch a sports game in Cville - had an unbelievable time during nfl championship game weekend there.
Don't worry...Mike London is a cop. He will make sure everyone is safe.
UVA fans bring a cheese spreader to a knife fight...
And a white flag
What if someone, somehow, change all the flags in Scott Stadium to white flags the night before we played LOLUVA this year?
OMG this has to happen. It might even be better than the added T
