2016 VT Spring Game attendance vs 2015 UVA football attendance

Hello all! Saw a comment recently about our spring game attendance vs UVA's attendance for their 2015 home games and I decided to make a little graphic to show it to avoid doing all the work I should be doing instead. Wish I could've made it to the spring game this year but I'm stuck on the west coast for work! Go Hokies!!

This is terrific!

Onward and upward

And I'm pretty sure at least 15,000-20,000 of those fans for the UVA-VT game were Hokies. So....

source: I was there

nice, but you forgot to add this:

They might have reported 44,000 for the spring game, I think the total was closer to 30,000. West stands were full, the east stands were 1/3 full, the north almost empty, and the south lower was 80%. South upper was empty.

More than 30,000, Lane seats 66,233 it was more than half full.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Agreed. The east was 2/3 full I'd say, and that was because they had the top 3rd roped off

EDIT: huh, looks like the east was only half full. Kind of hard to tell when youre actually sitting in the section ha

It was like that when I got here.

That's not what I saw. West was full, North was almost full, East was about half full, and South was half full.

North was nearly full if you ask me. Agreed on West and South, but East I'd say was closer to half.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

North was almost empty 30 minutes before the game but it filled up pretty well.

It looked like over 40,000 to me. I figured about 2/3 of the entire stadium by eyeball when at the game.

Photo trumps memory, more in North and East than I thought. It looked like they are replacing the seats in the East stands.

I know, right? I mean, just because some big time donors swooped in at the last minute to buy unused tickets doesn't mean we actually had that many butts in seats /s

There was quite a few single and double seats still available in West even though it looked full. I would guess the crowd around 35,000.

So.... the only 2 games UVa didn't have more fans in Scott during the regular season last year than we had in our Spring Game this past weekend were the 2 games against schools with traveling fanbases?

Yeah, remind me why anyone chooses to play football there, again?

* Note one of those games is actually against us, so the measurement is confounded a bit.

That's his point.

The two best attended games were Notre Dame and VT. We know that the numbers for the VT game came from VT fans. And we know that Notre Dame brings a lot of eyeballs wherever they go. No one was going to see UVA at those games.

Right.
