Bad news for Kyshoen Jarrett

Apparently he's struggling to recover from the neck injury:

Key quote:
"He still doesn't have a lot of feeling in that side. His weight has dropped drastically because he can't lift. I heard he has lost more than 30 pounds."

I mean, he can definitely still improve with time, but... oof. Really sucks

Sucks man, he was a great player for us an surprisingly effective in the NFL. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

Hope the medical settlement is enough for him to continue to care for his brother. Man, I wish him nothing but the best!

I found this quote interesting, from the section about the Kam rumors.

McCloughan doesn't want to part with his draft picks. He'd possibly have to give up a first- or second-rounder for Chancellor. He'd rather trade down, get more picks, and find the next Kam Chancellor.

Like Kendall Fuller?

I love them both, but Kendall is no Kam. In the same vein, Kam is no Kendall.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

The skins don't need any more Hokies.

On the contrary, Washington needs all that it can get - especially from DBU.

As much as I would love Kendall to play for the Skins, it wouldn't make sense, as corner is now the least of their priorities.

The Patriots posted a pre-draft wishlist and Kendall Fuller was listed. Given how shaky the cornerback position has been of late I could certainly see it happening if he doesn't go too early in the draft elsewhere. I'm sure he pops up in plenty of other pre-draft columns but his work ethic wouldn't be ignored on the Patriots.

I saw Kyshoen and his parents at Outback after the Spring Game. He did not look like he was enjoying himself. Maybe it had to do with his recovery,

They put a shot of Kyshoen up on HokieVision during the game with his name to sort of introduce him/get some cheers from the crowd like they did with the others, but they did it at a really awkward time kind of in the middle of a play. Very few people were even paying attention and there were only a few quiet cheers and applause. I felt really bad for him since Ty Kam Logan and Andre Davis all got very strong recognition.

Side note: HokieVision also put up a shot of Trey Edmunds (without his name) in the crowd, to which there was absolute silence. Awkward.

There were several former players on the sideline they didn't even show. Corey Fuller for sure. When I'm on laptop I'll start new thread about this but some former players feel like they are not welcomed back to VT.

Yeah, I also noticed Darryl Tapp. They put a shot of him in the crowd but no name or recognition at all. Not to start a complete tangent in this thread, but I think this aspect of the Spring Game has been severely mishandled. Will discuss it more in your new thread.

Yeah, that shit needs to be fixed for real. People best NEED to recognize and pay some damn respect. Sounds like it wasn't that great (technically speaking) of a montage with 3 huge glaring mistakes (Trey Edmunds, bad clip on Kyshoen and missing a Fuller which is a Hokie cardinal sin).

And when they showed Tyrod, the screen read "Tyrod Taylor, Virginia Tech Cornerback". C'mon Hokie Vision....

I saw that too, and also noticed that the program listed James Shibest as Jason Shibest, if I recall correctly. The support staff did not come out of the spring game looking good. But hey, at least we didn't have to apologize for copying UVA's spring festival graphics.

It appears that someone is working to create the beginnings of perhaps a Football Alumni Association.

This will be included in new thread after lunch. It's been a whole thing on Twitter with former players.

Sounds great. I'll be looking forward to it.

Football is a good start but they then need to move on to all the other sports. As I pointed out back a few basketball posts ago, many of our basketball alumni find their way on to professional courts, more so than even the football team, so being able to recognize our alumni for what they gave us now, what they continue to give in terms of building the Hokie brand and also their potential to be great benefactors to the school is an area we have long missed the boat on except in rare cases. Also being able to talk about our alumni's history as part of recruiting, and acknowledge or involve them going forward would likely pay great benefits to improving how some of our athletic programs are viewed. I know Hokiesports.com earlier this month posted an list of all of our current alumni at the different levels of MLB. http://www.hokiesports.com/baseball/recaps/20150413aaa.html

The monogram club is the sports alumni group for VT. I know that they are stilling struggling to get younger former players into it. I cant speak to how basketball players are treated when they come back I can only talk about who Ive interacted with in person and online. This is how I found out about the football players not feeling wanted by the prior AD around the teams and school.

tbh honest I missed both of these. which makes me sad because I would have def given some love to them. ky is one of my fav hokies and although trey has moved on I still have love for him and want to see him be successful.

Poor guy, such a shitty situation. He looked like he was going to be an excellent flex DB and special teams player for the Skins. Sucks that he was only able to get one year of 5th round money from the NFL. Hope that injury money is big.

Why the f-k can't NICE things happen to the Hokies that go to the NFL!? Seems/feels like it's almost ALWAYS bad things that happen (injuries, getting cut, not enough playing time, etc).

That really sucks. From what I remember, the Dallas RB was head hunting. He knocked Kyshoen and another Redskin DB out of the game with head/neck injuries. If they are going to flag the defense with helmet to helmet, they need to start getting the offense for doing the same thing.

I hope he feels better soon, nerve pain is like no other and he's worried about it for so many reasons. I wish him a speedy recovery and that he can continue to care for his family the way he wants to.

Terrible news about Kyshoen. Like another poster said, Hokies in the NFL just cannot catch a break. Cody Grimm, David Wilson now Kyshoen (just to name a few) all were hurt before they could really get their promising careers started. I mean Kendall Fuller hasn't even been drafted yet and he can't catch a break due to his injury.

Hope the best for Kyshoen!

He is about to make first round money tho

I'm in Jacksonville and all the local guys talk about is up to Pick #5 (Jags). Where is he projecting to?

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Most of what I've seen for mock drafts have had Kendall going between the upper 30s to the lowers 60s. So basically second round somewhere.

2nd round. There are a lot of CBs this year and for whatever reason,Kendall's injury seems to be driving his draft spot down in lieu of the others. I'm hoping the Panthers pick him up at 30 but some are saying he'll still be there in the middle of the 2nd round.

If even Danny Coale cannot catch a break with regards to injuries, then those things must be damn near impossible to catch.

Kyshoen is one of my favorite hokies. I think I teared up when I first read the article about his brother and how he takes care of him. I was so excited about his NFL future after how surprisingly well he did last year, playing all over the field. I hope he can come back, but at the very least he got to live his dream for awhile, and that makes me happy.

It'd be nice to see him get on a team with other Hokies. Is anyone projecting him to the Bears?
