We should be really pumped about this. We had 44700 after a 7-6 season with coaching turnover, granted that was part of the appeal as well, but we had 6k less than Clemson who is coming off a NC appearance with the most preseason hype they have ever had.

A few observations/thoughts/questions I'm too lazy to answer:
1. Anything else going on in Columbus? Is it a large city?
2. Several totals were nice round numbers, sound like "estimates" (ours included).
3. Any schools' attendance limited by stadium size (other than OSU & Ludacris UGA)?

1. The entire state of Ohio views OSU how most of the NRV views Tech. Even people who went to Akron or Ohio or even Cincinnati probably still went to the OSU spring game. That state is just crazy as a whole. Side note: if you want to know who the good OSU fans are, as a general rule, they're the ones who actually attended the school. The bad ones are typically the ones who didn't get in but still follow the team religiously.

Columbus is actually among the biggest cities in the country, ranking 15th in population. Bigger than Boston, Seattle, DC, etc.
As to number 2, I don't think they mentioned it in this article, but usually these reports come with the disclaimer that all totals are estimated and self-reported, so technically a school can claim whatever they want and no one can really challenge it.

Technically yes, but practically no. Rather than look at population of the city proper, look at the population of the metropolitan area. It is a better indicator of city size since city lines are kind of arbitrary. For example, Columbus is 217 sq mi, while DC is only 61.

Boston 4,774,321
Seattle 3,733,580
Columbus 2,021,632
Columbus is definitely a large city, but the metro area population knocks it down to 32nd in population, closer to Cleveland and Austin.

And it doesn't feel remotely like a big city. Places like Baltimore and Pittsburgh and St. Louis feel much more like a big city even though they probably have similar populations.

LSU may very well win the SEC this year, but it appears that there isn't much excitement around their program right now with how the whole Miles fiasco played out after the season.
They are a weird case in that no one would be surprised if they win the Natty, but also no one would be surprised if they win the SEC, make the playoff, but fail to win the Natty and Les gets canned.

This just goes to show how awesome Hokie Nation is. A lot of people figured there would be a drop off because of Beamer's retirement. Quite the contrary. Fuente has made things exciting and new again. That up-tempo offense has potential to be something great, and with (hopefully) Evans at the healm, we will be able to rise to the top of the ACC again.

Bronco went from a team that was 25th in attendance to one that had 25 (estimated) in attendance. I get the feeling BYU fans are as excited to get rid of him and get a real coach as LOLUVA is to get rid of Time Cop. They may have had too much faith that they could not do worse.

Spring game attendance is fun to talk about (and even more fun to make fun of UVA for) but let's be honest, it's really irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. If it meant anything we'd have Quinn Blanding and Andrew Brown.

Odd that Kentucky had higher attendance than Notre Dame
I was going to respond with "what else is there to do in Kentucky" ..... but then I remembered Notre Dame is in Indiana.

I figured someone would bring that up. The main point though is that there's lot of people and other things to do. A little college town it ain't.
