As much as people might not like Disney buying things up like this, it has been a great move so far. The Force Awakens was fantastic, and they are planning to release the original trilogy in it's unaltered (and significantly better) original form. So no more weird CGI long mouth alien, kissy lips concert in Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi, or stupid looking CGI inserted Jabba in the A New Hope.
I've been asking for those non-defiled versions for years. Sadly, they are quite expensive. Having them finally released en masse is going to be great.
See, I thought the ones they released on VHS in the mid 90s (NOT in the theaters) were acceptable and pleasant.
I still have these!! Bought the boxed set so we could watch them with the kids. That and old home movies are the only things we keep the VCR for. Isn't this the set that comes with the original "how it was made" series by Lucas, with the different size models, examples of relative distance filming for making thing look larger, and pin hole stars?
Oh yea those were great! The problem is I watched those so many times that the quality is terrible now.

I wasn't overly excited about the EU=non-canon move, but Disney certainly has placed a focus on holding to what the originals made special. Still hold out hope that some of the great EU characters make it back into the canon, though

Loved the show, ruined their best character arc (Barney), the relationship that carried the last three seasons single handedly, and they killed the mom. Worst finale ever. I can't even casually watch episodes anymore because I hated the ending so much
