I came across this story today on Facebook and it made me chuckle. The level of intelligence in Hooville never ceases to amaze me.

Upon looking into it, apparently trucks crashing into bridges is a thing - so much so, that someone made a compilation video. Enjoy.

there used to be some sensors that would trip a loud ass klaxon if a vehicle was approaching that was too big. Either those aren't there any more or this guy just ignored it and kept rolling.
by the way, your compilation is not the same bridge.
I only watched a few of the compilation ones and they looked the same....oh well..
regardless, still funny stuff.
According to their website, it's in Durham, NC.

Makes sense, see below logic.
Duke Acceptance Test:
Tester instructs Prospective Student to drive 12'6" truck on a route, eventually coming to a decision point at an 11'8' bridge.
Test:
Accept Admission: If Prospective Student takes alternative route around low bridge
Reject Admission: If Prospective Student crashes truck ignoring sign.
...and people claim Duke is difficult receive acceptance.
Two things stand out:
1. Who was dumb enough to build a bridge that low?
2. If you drive a vehicle/trailer that is large and you don't know the height of said vehicle, you shouldn't be driving it.
Only in Charlottesville!
ryder truck, so it was probably some student moving after the end of the semester...sounds about right.
But not all of the clips in the video were Ryder trucks. One of them was a personal camper. Bye bye AC unit!
You mean a transferring running back getting the hell out of Dodge, right?
1) Could be that the bridge was built before anyone foresaw tractor trailers using that route to drive through town.
2) Absolutely correct.
Like opening a can of sardines
In Richmond, apparently the overpass into Regency Mall gets hit a bunch
The video is of a different bridge. That one is in Durham, but it's still pretty funny to watch folks hit it.
Its funny because now that its mentioned, its fairly obvious. I guess that's what I get for believing what someone on the internet said.
Lady at 2:50 doesn't give a rat's ass
Somebody should put the Cavalier (Wahoo) logo on the sides and backs of each truck in gif (damn I'm an effin genius).
So I currently live in Charlottesville and my apartment is right next to a different train bridge. On my way home from work I saw a truck get stuck under the bridge (first time I've seen this happen in 2 years living here). Turns out it happened on the same day as the one in this post but the one by my apartment never got any news coverage. Nothing really surprises me in this city anymore.
There's currently another truck stuck under the bridge by my apartment: second this week. Still not surprised.
The Peace Street Bridge in Raleigh gets hit so much, it has its own Twitter account documenting all of the accidents.
I liked the one where the hay gets sheared off and his partner follows him through after he just saw what happened in front of him. Genius!
"Ha! That guy's so dumb-" CRASH.
A friend of mine from ODU was a member of their model bridge or whatever it's called team (sorry to the CIV/ESM folks, I'm an ME) and they hit the C'ville bridge with the Ryder truck they transported the bridge to competition with.
I'm not sure if that's irony or infinite regression.
This happens almost once a week on the corner. It's not an unusual occurence. I'm kind of surprised the local news even covered it. Must have been a slow news day.
Inevitable. Low bridge vs high brow=
Edit: or high hat, or high horse, or high Zima?
I currently live on Long Island, and there are many low hanging bridges/overpasses that pre-date the interstate system. The entire Parkway system, designed by Robert Moses, are the main thorough roads that run from the eastern part of the island into the 5 Burroughs. For the exception of one interstate running east/west, truckers have a very difficult time navigating LI. I myself have seen many a truck peeled back like an accordion!
That's what happens when your engineering school sucks more than your football team.
3:50 , It was Two men & a Truck. Now its just two men.
