After a slow weekend, news is starting to pick up on TKP. What's next?

I can't imagine how drunk those Tenn. fans will be by 8. This is going to be a fun event, that is why we are getting there the Sunday before the game.

Yeah. . . the Tennessee fans

I promise not to drink tequila until we are up by more than 14.

As a cord-cutter, I'm loving the broadcast on ABC, though. That takes one huge piece of anxiety out of my game day equation.

That home break from 9/24 to 10/20 is still going to be brutal.

Just means that the students are gonna be chomping at the bit for that Thursday night game, should be an incredible atmosphere

Gameday will most likely be there since it is an 8 PM ABC game.

And because there aren't many good matchups in week 2.

And it will be a SEC/Tennessee love-fest for the entire time...

If Gameday is there, would they have two guest pickers since it's a neutral site game? One who supports Vols and one who supports Hokies.

Probably. My guess is Peyton Manning for Tenn and Beamer for VT if they do two. If they only did one it would probably be Manning just for the ratings.

Slightly erratic, mostly sane, always a Hokie.

Peyton and Vick.

Arguably the best NFL QB of all time and arguably the best NCAA QB of all time.

They'll have Kenny Chesney there as the guest picker.

Nice, should be able to watch at least first half before bedtime! Damn getting old sucks...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Do like me and take a three hour nap that afternoon. Then you might make it to the end of 3rd quarter.

Well it will definitely be Gameday. I hope that somewhere in the SEC lovefest we at least get 1 interesting story about the changing of the guard from Frank to Fuente, and also a good story about how awesome Beamer is.

A guy can wish.

Beamer should be the special guest picker. He can stroll out with a milkshake in hand.

Ahhhhh this is going to be glorious. Can't wait.

We'll get to style on the Vols under the lights, nice!

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Check out this Tennessee fan (who I can't help but assume paints a pretty accurate picture of most Tennessee fans) trying to grasp the English language as he screams at Kenny Chesney through the saliva gathering all over his loud mouth. "Virginia Technical," he says. Nicee

Somebody needs a rabies shot.

Lol yes. Kyle Bailey replied to that tweet and then the Tennessee trolls came out of the woodwork. "Popcorn Sutton" is probably the best representation of UT fans that I've seen. A real loud mouth with no concern over who he offends. Real great guy. /s

Yeah, that's the guy who told me I shouldn't talk about football because I'm a girl. I couldn't get on twitter for days because of all of the hate I then got. He was a real classy guy.

By the look of him, I don't think he could name 4 vegetables...

Likely his response:

Cream corn.....extra cream.

I like him. I will shotgun a beer with him if we cross paths in Bristol.

Have we ever had a game on NBC before? It's gonna be odd switching to NBC and seeing Virginia Tech play a football game.

We played in a few Gator Bowls on NBC (2000, 2001, 2005 seasons) but I can't recall playing in a regular season game on NBC since I started at Tech.

From HokieSports.com:
NBC Record: 2-2 (.500) (Total NBC Games: 4)

The fourth one was the 1998 Gator Bowl (for the 1997 season).

As far as I can tell, the only regular season games NBC has ever broadcast are Notre Dame and the Bayou Classic.

Hunter Cantwell cant remember that NBC game in 05/06

@VTimHokie85

Sometimes when I'm watching a football game and see a big hit, I think to myself, "I hope that Hunter Cantwell guy is okay."

So with this being an 8pm Game... looks like I need to brew some beer for tailgating!! Any recommendations on what I should make for the game?

-Semper Primus

Given the teams that are playing and the location, forget beer. Distill some 'shine.

"Exit light..."

Something with a buttload of hops.

Every second counts

Back when I was looking into going I formulated an idea to make two beers: a maroon toned English Porter and an orange colored citrus hopped Amber Ale/Session IPA, both about 5%. My thought was the English Porter represented the Virginia Tech traditions with a very traditional beer. The other beer would represent the "Invent the Future" part of the university. Make a beer that isn't really to any style. It'd use hop bursting for the hop flavor and aroma (using relatively new American hops), use a unique mix of malts to get a vibrant orange color, and ferment with Brett C (not Saccharomyces) to bring out tropical notes as well. Ideally they would end up with different enough densities that you could pour one over the other like a Half and Half. Start with a bright, juicy, citrusy beer, and finish with a roasty, chocolate, bready porter. Or the other way around.
But, if you're tailgating the porter probably doesn't sound too good.

You should pass this idea along to these people:

Yes, VT now has a brewhouse

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Nah, I'd pass the idea through some people that aren't just learning how to brew.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I really don't like having back to back Thursday night games. It takes any hopes of strategizing out of it. Miami and then Pitt....@Pitt??? Ugh....I hate the fact that Pitt is a thorn in our side. I feel like we should be leaps and bounds above them.

Ugh....I hate the fact that Pitt is a thorn in our side. I feel like we should be leaps and bounds above them.

This sums up my my attitude toward every team in our division...

Warning: this post occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)..

When we have both home & away Thursday games, they are almost always on back-to-back weeks. That ensures the 2nd game is played on a full week's rest. Typically we also have a bye week before the first Thursday game, although that's not the case this year. At least by doing them back-to-back we only have one short week rather than potentially two.

Usually, the ACC is fair in giving both teams the same number of days off heading into a Thursday night game. So, either both teams have the bye or both teams play the Saturday before.

However, I think we're getting slightly shafted with Pitt. We play on Saturday 10/15, then Thursdays 10/20 and 10/27. Pitt plays Saturday 10/15, followed by a bye, and then they play us on Thursday 10/27. Like they need any more advantages.

(I guess their rule is don't give only one team a short week.)

So, when do you start tailgating for a noon kickoff? 7am
3:30? 7am
Primetime? 7am

I notice you didn't specify the day for the 7am start... so I began a half hour ago
