The Invitational Tourney in Philly is going on now. Each pool consists of 4 teams. We lost to Penn St but beat Life which as I understand is of the top Rugby 7 teams in the nation. I saw the Drexel game and VT pretty much brutalized them. Lets see if they advance.
Down in Pool F Clemson went 0-3! In Pool B ND went 1-2! So they are out. In Pool E Michigan went 0-3 (bad Sugar Bowl karma). So they are all out.
All Pool winners advance and the top 2 2nd place teams advance. There is a points systems to determine who goes and I don't understand it.
There are 2 7 minute halves and the action is non-stop. Great game to watch.
On a side note. WE have a player that should throw his name in for the TB position.

I watched Kutztown beat Indiana today on NBC. Cal v Ark St was coming on next. It was really interesting.
Is this on TV?
Beating Life would be like us beating Alabama in football. It just shouldn't happen. Heck of a job by those guys at the CRC, wish I was still playing.
I played rugby at Radford and got to play a 7s tourney at Tech my senior year...they stomped us as we were going thru some sanctions and whatnot. Opening kickoff of the tournament a Tech player elbowed me square in my face with a good bit of blood ensuing. Good times.
Played club at VT in 87-88. They had fliers out to get enough to field a team. Pretty sure we did not win, but had blast. Dislocated a shoulder against Radford. Also took cleat to the knee in practice that ended up being season ending, as I lost the last two weeks of the season. We've come along way!
I saw the Drexel game. They looked good. Drexel players looked like they were going to puke a lung by the end. Taped the rest of yesterday's matches and am taping today's as well. Looking forward to watching.
I never played rugby but I love watching 7's. (Can't wait for Olympic play.) A lot of the guys I played football with in high school played rugby in college and were always trying to get me play. I regret never giving it a try.
Same here. Had some friends that played at tech and they invited me a couple times to come play. I didn't but regret it now.
Watched some of the bracket play today after getting skunked in a bass tournament. We did not make it to the bracket play even though there were 3 tied at 2-1 in our pool. We did not score enough points to qualify. Yes they did beat Life 7-5. I am here to say that these guys have better tackling technique than most football players.
Its great to watch and the games last only 20 minutes or so ( I don't know how long half time is). In the semis you have 3 pack 10 schools and Kuntztown State. They showed some of the ladies final. Some tough chicks!
Also there is a penalty box like hockey.
Cal crushed UCLA in the final for their 4th national championship in a row I believe.
