Favorite Game Flyover (VT or otherwise)?

Though the '07 Opener with the B-2 (looks great on my Class Ring) was a moment to behold, my favorite remains the '09 B-1B Lancer flyover against Marshall. Something about a huge bomber hitting the afterburners overhead, really pumps me up!

Easy for me. Game 7 of 2001 World Series. It was right after 9-11. Awesome finish when the D'backs rallied in the bottom of the 9th with a Mark Grace lead off hit, and a Luis Gonzalez walk off hit against Mariano Rivera. D'backs threw the Yankees off their dynasty run just like the Hokies will do to Bama in a few weeks.

When the stealths flyover its always entertaining, cause they are so quiet.

However, I remember there being an A10 at one game, and I just love me some A10. Such a Hokie plane.

The stealths are my favorite as well

Nothing screams "Come at me bro" like the National Anthem followed by a fly over! 'Merica!!!!

The 2007 Opener was F-15s in missing man formation:

I thought we have done it then too

The 2007 B2 was homecoming vs UNC. I know this because I took photos as it flew over my head in the South Endzone.

B2

My favorites are probably the B2 on that day and the Apaches that flew over homecoming 2008. I say the Apaches because I was in the very last row in the East stands, so they practically flew by at eye level for me, which was very cool.

Apaches

The B1 is probably 3rd on the list just for the sheer amount of noise it put out.

I have to agree with this list completely. The B2 was awesome being so quiet and badass. The Apaches came in super low so that was cool and the B1 shook the stadium. I also liked the C-17 when it got over the stadium and made a hard banking turn to the East.

Growing up I was also in the holding pattern for the jets that would do the flyover for the race each time it came to Richmond. We would watch them circle and circle and then finally they would come by low and flat heading towards the track. It took them 8 seconds to get from my house to the track on TV.

Nothing can compare to the bone-shaking power of the B-52 that flew over in 2004 against Western Michigan especially with that trademark scream the engines make! I was on the field with the HT's and got to watch it in the reflection of the sousaphone that was in front of me. It's not the prettiest or fastest but it'll pound your pathetic country into rubble.

Second to this is anything that has to do with the A-10. I wish they could to a couple bursts with blanks as they go by to show off the gatling gun!

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

She may not be fast (too much armor) or sexy (much prettier planes out there), but I'd love to have her by my side no matter what the situation. There is a reason why they took the A10 our of decommission. Gotta love a plane that has nicknames like Warthog and tank killer.

A10

Love me some A10s.

That war machine right there has certainly got us Infantry types out of a jam or two! I mean it's a giant gun and they built a plane around it! Suck it enemies of the U.S.!

Gotta love a plane that was designed around its gun.

Sounds like how the male of a species was built as well...

I'm not sure how blanks would work for a depleted uranium round.

I'm not sure if it'd be possible, I just love to hear that gun and I know they won't let 'em use live rounds.

There was something about being on the field for the national anthem between the crowd roaring for flyovers and the sound of the skipper (Kilo formation is right next to it) just sends goosebumps everywhere.

Army/Navy game in 2008 in Philly was pretty cool too because it was a dual flyover for both services.

didn't we open the 2005 season with a B-2 and 2 F-117s (stealth bomber and fighters, respectively)? I think that was rather pants-crappingly awesome.

It was a catch

Undeniably AWESOME!
