#1 Alabama
#2 Clemson
#3 Oklahoma
#4 Florida State
#5 Ohio State
UNC (#20) and Louisville (#23) are the other ACC teams ranked. Tennessee is ranked #10. VT is unranked and received no votes. Justin Fuente is a voter and I'm guessing he might be the one guy who gave Memphis a vote.
Thoughts?

Who in the hell gave Tenn a first place vote.
MoD
Womp womp
WTF does he think he's doing (trying to dance)!?
well being 1-1 after week 2 isn't going to keep them in the top-10. Being in the SEC will keep them comfortably in the top-20, though.
Man I think Butch may give Bronco a run for his money in the Biff look-a-like contest...
That's actually Griff.
So if UT played VA, it would be the Biff & Griff Show?
Only if it was sponsored by a fertilizer company.
My first thought too, I can only assume Butch but he may change his mind after September 10

Seen it a thousand times, still cracks me up
It's the context...
Yep, funny every time. It just fits...
Maybe it was Fuente. I don't know how the scoring works but maybe he figured at least one first place vote would propel Tenn into the top 10. That will give Fuente a chance to knock off a top 10 team in his second game. Imagine what that will do for recruiting!
^^^^^^^^

And he has to be the guy voting for Memphis. We have a gem on our hands here, as far as I'm concerned. #alltherightmoves
It was Gil, Gil Gunderson voted for Tennessee.
Speaking of which, who was it that gave us the #1 vote for just about the entire '99 season? I bet that guy was feeling like a genius.
It is a little early to WANT to see VT in a poll. HOWEVER, I did look at the other teams receiving votes and I'd bet you a paycheck we could beat 4 or 5 teams right now. At least we won't have a bulls eye on our back, until we upset UT.
I'll take it (the paycheck, that is).
I think we get ranked right before going into ND. Lose that game, finish strong, win a bowl game and end the season around 25.
after our hot 4-0 start to the season we'll go into the UNC matchup in the top 20. We'll win that and stay in the teens until we beat ND putting us firmly in the top 10. After blowing out UVA in an epic blowout (70-0, bro) we'll get into the top 5 with an ACC Matchup of top 5 teams like never before! We'll win that to get into the playoffs as the number 2 team in the land and we'll wollop both of our opponents to finish 15-0 and ranked #1.
a guy can dream, right?
I'll have what you're having.
I really hope this is you

Some really good shit!!!!!!
Good. Just exactly how we want it.

God it would be amazing to be on the other end of a huge letdown at the beginning of what looks like a promising season after all the preseason hype
Thoughts? Well, we're simply not in a position to complain. Any respect we get will be because we EARNED that respect. The reputation will need to be rebuilt, but that's not entirely a bad thing.
Boy would I love to see VT beat Tennessee at the Battle of Bristol, though.
We will.
I hope you're right. Would sure make my day.
Worry not, friend. #FuenteENFuego is about to show whom the best and ONLY coach is in BOTH states.
Good, we shouldn't be ranked. Maybe no votes is a little excessive, but they don't matter at all anyways. Overall I feel expectations are too high on this site. We have one hell of a schedule this season and every game besides Liberty is losable (all games are winnable). I don't think we should be too disappointed if we end up with a 6-6 or 7-5 season. Fuente's going to need time to get in his guys
Coaches need time to get their guys when there is little talent after a coach is fired.
Frank retired, and we are a team that went 7-6.
I'm not saying we're going 15-0, but if we go 6-6 I will be somewhat disappointed. 7-5 I'd be content, and then I would be very happy with 8 wins or more. This team has talent, it just wasn't being coached very well last season. Plain and simple.
The defense will improve a lot too.
I have my eyes set on 8
That could require 6 to 7 conference wins. That is a tall order while breaking in a new starting QB running a new scheme.
You're being realistic. I don't like it.
15-0!
How about a friendly TKP wager? I predict 8+ Ws (I'll stomach/tolerate 8 but I'll be disappointed with less).
It's alright: here are my score predictions for the season
VT 100 - Liberty 0
VT 28 - Tennessee 0
VT 35 - BC 0
VT 42 - ECU 0
VT 28 - UNC 0
VT 49 - Syracuse 0
VT 21 - Miami 0
VT 24 - Pitt 0
VT 28 - Duke 0
VT 35 - GT 0
VT 21 - ND 0
VT 1000000 - UVA 0
sorry, what happened... I blacked out...
I'll go with it.
man those are some low scoring games
How times have changed when Duke can keep it within 28
You forgot about the ACC Championship game:
VT 3 - Wake Forest 0
I thought the official score of a forfeit was 2-0.
On a related note, holy shit is that going to be an awesome first weekend of the season. In addition to #EnFuente's debut, we've got:
Oklahoma vs. Houston (@NRG)
LSU vs. Wisconsin (@Lambeau!)
Georgia vs. UNCheat (@GA Dome)
USCw vs. Alabama (@Jerry World)
Clemson @ Auburn
Notre Dame @ Texas
Ole Miss vs. F$U
There are six teams in the top 10 that could easily have their first loss of the year, never mind the Vols going down in week 2. It's going to be tough to make it back to work on Tuesday. Oh, and GO SPIDERS!!
Conferences fairly evenly represented in poll; only non-P5 is Houston (counting ND as ACC).
Plus the morning game in Ireland.
Amway? Seriously, is USA Today not able to be the sole sponsor anymore.
I didn't even realize Amway was still in business.
USA Today hasn't been the sole sponsor for some time. ESPN used to co sponsor it but pulled out when the coaches started manipulating the votes, voting teams they beat to get themselves more points under the old BCS system.
Really, ESPN had an issue with people "manipulating" a poll? Well, I guess it wasn't a problem regarding ethics, it was that someone else was probably beating them at their own game.
Judging by the number of old high school friends that message me on facebook trying to get me to go to a meeting about it, it must be doing pretty well.
So Amway β Quixtar? I remember having Amway stuff around the house when I was little ('80s); guys on the ship in '00s selling Quixtar told me it was the same company.
Amway? That cult...err I man multi level marketer is still going pretty strong.

An Amway sponsored poll is a great idea. It starts with the one Amway guy, and then he convinces his friends to sponsor the poll, and then those friends convince their friends to sponsor the poll, and then before you know it, the poll is living in a 25 room mansion and driving a Lamborghini.
