- This face punched.... HARD
- The Bowl streak continued
- The return of Stick it In, dammit!
- Every game is a sellout
- 1000 Members of The Key Players Club... Seriously, Join or Die, people

- We finally win a goddamn ALLMAROONEVERYTHING

- Seriously, someone punch that guy really hard
- Commonwealth Cup continues to collect dust for another year... its getting lonely
- A 14th game
- Oh, and for the love of all things, can we finally beat those a-holes in Pittsburgh?
- A linebacker, any linebacker, to step up and be a run stopping machine. Please.
- Fuck Matt Ryan
- A huge upset that knocks one of the legitimate playoff contenders out of the running. I'm talking like drunk pretty Wake Forest knocking the smile off of Dabo's face kind of upset. Please
- I mean, I hate to keep going back to this, but Bronco has to have the most punchable face in football, no? Just look at that face. I want to punch it so damn hard.

Nailed it.
Good call.... amended
For God sake, beat ECU.
1. Beat Tennessee. I don't care who else we lose to, as long as we beat Tennessee and...
2. Continue the bowl streak.
Bonus: Just don't look completely inept on offense.
Please, GoKart, I beg of thee. Don't leave loluva out of that "don't care who else we lose to" wish. I know it is personal with you and Tennessee, but please, man...think of the children...
May the future generations never know what it's like to relinquish the cup.
I just figured a win over Biff's loluva losers was automatic.
I know where you are coming from. Any time we play LOLOLUVA over the last 7 or 8 years (at least) , whenever the teams line up, there are 22 players that are on the field for any given play that all know, somehow the Hokies will win that game. I only want one thing and that is for Tech and their opponents to get to the point where that is the case in 15 games.
I want the offense to feel like something that could be a threat in coming years.
Beat ECU
Win a Thursday night game don't care which one
Keep ND and UT close games
Belk Bowl
#NationalChampionshipOrBust /s
15-0, and all that implies.
No sarcastica needed. He asked what we want.
being conservative a representation in the ACCCG
and all those other things you stated
End the Pirate Menace
Attack of the Rogers
Revenge of the six win seasons
Offense: A New Hope
The Wahoos Struck Down
The Return of the Lunchpail
The Fuenteball Awakens
This is one of those times when one leg per voter just does not seem adequate..........
Beat Tennessee, ECU, Duke (ugh still mad I even have to group them in here), and Pitt. And LOLUVA, it goes without saying.
LBs stay healthy and don't become the defense's Achilles heel
Take the first steps into the Fuente era not tentatively but with signs of offensive juggernautery to come. (It's a word now, dammit.)
And last but not least, I want Alabama, Clemson, and the ilk to lose games no one expects them to. There will be much rejoicing
Oh and get the fuck above .500 in the regular season for the first time since 2011
We were 8-4 regular season in 2013.
It just seems that long....
Seriously? I could have sworn that was another 6-6
*looks it up* wow. I guess those 4 losses just felt like 6 because of who they were to.
That damn Duke game felt like 3 losses with the way it happened and how it sent us from 6-1 to finishing 8-5
Not to mention Maryland. :\
That was a rough game. My buddies friend game to visit that game, he was a Maryland student. And, doing my duty as a football fan, proceeded to shit talk with him all game. Ate some humble pie that day...
That game was one of the weirdest I can remember. I believe on the opening drive we returned a fumble for a td and the refs called it back. It was just filled with unusual plays and left me wondering how we lost it. Also the game that started my concern for mobile qbs
-I may be in the minority for this but.... more carries for RB #2 per game than Sam Rogers
- any combo of WRS after Ford and Phillips to have atleast 3 catches a game
- ZERO special teams TDs given up
- beat TENN. which I think we are fully capable of
-less than 2 sacks a game given up and really just protect the dang QB
- some form of get your dang head around as a DB not just being a lot of off season talk
- be in the top 20 in TO margin
- in the hunt for the coastal
- paul Johnson to win less than 4 games and be fired
- the ACC to win all games against SEC opponents
- James Conner to win ACC player of the year (not by running all over us)
- and ACC team to win the national championship
- more 3:30 games
I could go on and on.... but I tried to stick with the things that I really really want. ive never been good at making a Christmas list
Man, thays too much conference pride. Fuck em all I say.
lol I live in SEC county. I have no choice but to have conference pride. I get SEC pride shoved down my throat everyday. I agree screw'em all on game week!
"We finally win a goddamn ALLMAROONEVERYTHING"
We did!....back in 2009.
9 wins, great effort, and improved physicality. Most importantly, I want to see defensive line beating blocks and making plays without irresponsibly shooting gaps.
Progress
Beat Miami and ECU.
Make the Bristol game one worth remembering (no blowouts by Tenn)
Beat ND on national TV
Keep Isaih Ford healthy all season long
Finally see Bucky live up to the hype..not just a jump ball catcher in the red zone
Bring back the lunchpail swagger on defense.
Make Lane great again
Make Lane great again x 10
I'd love to see us return Lane to the hallowed place of lore. It's just not that *fill in adjective here* anymore.
I like this one the best. All are reasonable. We can still accomplish it and go 8-4 which isn't too bold.
A 1000 yard back. I. Ford to hit 800 yards. Bucky to pull in 7 TDs. Average over 1 INT per game. A respectable showing against Tennessee and Notre Dame. 8 wins. And to be able to come back to TKP on the Monday after a loss and not see a load of knee jerk reactions everywhere. Hey, a guy can dream, right?
McMillion was a 1,000 yard back in a truncated role as a feature back and Ford had over 800 last season.
Do you want to aim higher?
Based on the fact that Fuente's offenses have a history of distributing the ball around to lots of RBs and WRs, 1000 for T-Mac and 800 for Ford would be quite an achievement. Last year, Isaiah and Cam were on the field for basically every play. Fuente wants to rotate through 8 WR or so (he probably won't have that many this year, but 5-6 is likely).
^This. I fully expect that there will be a decline in individual production with the increase in overall production. So that's why I put the numbers there.
I guess in that sense the numbers seem optimistic. But do we ready think we have 5 game ready WRs?
in the same sense that we have 3 game ready QBs...yes
-Kick ECU, Tenn, ND and LOLUVA so hard in da nads they NEVER recover
-All-America & All-ACC for Facyson, Philips, Rogers and Hodges (Ford and McMillan should be a give)
-Continue the bowl W streak
One could make the argument the 52-14 slaughter in Charlottesville in 2005 accomplished this a while ago
Yeah, that was pretty good. But #38-0BRO was

That was merely reminding ourselves the dominance was still there
I remember the game there last season, as soon as the play clock struck 00, I victoriously (and unashamedly) shouted "YEA, WE OWN DIS SHIT!!!" Ah, fond times.
Beat Boston College because that's the only game I can go to this season and we've lost every game I've attended since 2013. (My bad y'all, but I refuse to stay away).
Not give up as many big plays, good pass defense, more sacks, not losing
as many close games, strong offense, contending for division title.
I had no idea that's what Bronco looked like. I too would like to punch him in the face.
Start winning home games again.
This times 1000 (or just six)
This. I can't believe I didn't think of this one
Not just win, but dom-a-fuckn-ate, like we used to.
Hokie Football in January
See us average 40 points per game. If we could do that, I think everything else would pretty much take care of itself. I never want to see us play a 0-0 game at end of regulation again.
9 wins and a movie--I mean postseason victory. Forgot this wasn't the "Community" message board.
Beating UT and ND. More than winning, throttle them both.
Win those nerve-racking close games that we should be winning all the time. ECU, Pitt, home games in general. That's sad in a way.
I want the fans to be better. Students are students, but seeing so many people leave Beamer's last game early made me furious. Fuente needs our support, especially through these early stages.
Upset at least one of the bigs UT or ND
Competent Offense (you know the kind that scores points and is fun to watch )
Crush Liberty!
Beat ECU, lolUVA & Miami
Win at Pitt
Return to the hard hittin team people were afraid to play ....at least progress in that direction!
A hard nosed defense that isn't afraid to hit someone and hit them hard. I miss the vaunted Bud Foster defenses where the offense knew they were going to be sore the next day.
For the NCAA to create the Virginia Tech Rule...because it's an unfair advantage.
1. Scoring more than a Tim Settle of points in the regular season-328
2. Losing less games than a Jerod Evans jersey (4)
3. Beating a Buckys worth of ACCteams (6-7)
4. Putting a Travon jersey worth on Tenn -34
5. Having at least a Ford jersey worth of NFL first round draft picks -1
6. Pancakes, The Cup, Stick It In, Slye as a fox, people playing their nuts off, DBU, #StartJumping, Key Plays, Hokiebird push-ups, Corp of cadets marching, diapers changed, people cursing, Lane Rocking, Pride and Joy, Sacksburg alive and well.
Go Hokies!
Make Lane Stadium relevant again. 6-0 at home.
Punt less, trust the data.
Be competitive in ND and UT games.
Don't do the wave.
Take advantage of skill talent on offense.
Stay as healthy as possible.
I'd like to see a return of the "we are up by 40 so let's do the wave".
Don't mind the wave, but for god's sake...no paper airplanes
I only mind the wave when dumb drunk students start it WHILE WE'RE ON OFFENSE AND THEY START CHEERING LOUDER THAN WHEN WE'RE ON DEFENSE!!!!! /end rage
Top 10 Defense
Top 20 Offense
Top 30 Special Teams
Aim for #1 for all three, but also have reasonable expectations :)
9-10 wins, finishing the season on a roll of 6-7 straight wins, and an entry in the ACCCG vs. Dabo's bunch. Then upsetting Clemson on a last minute, desperation pass to Sam Rogers (reminiscent of the Clarence Davis' 'Sea of Hands' catch), and playing in a New Year's Day bowl. I know I'm dreaming, but who knows, this could be a magical season. Here's to a magical season!
Replace this signage:
With this:
Hey, hey, hey!!!! NSFW!
...wait, sorry thought that was something else...
That signage is gone.
NO MORE PAPER AIRPLANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because I'm back in the land of "we're always underrated because we're not in a conference" (THEN JOIN A F'ING CONFERENCE) and it's probably the only game I'll get to go to this year, I'd give my left nut to beat Notre Dame,... and my right to win a natty.
My wife to decide baking a pie is a great way to celebrate a win.
To get to try 10 new homemade pies this year.
So much dork magic no-one can deny our pussy touchdowns.
Putting beat down on all teams in NC.
Another year of listening quietly to my dad complain about how his Hoo's are awful.
NYD karma against Michigan.
I agree!
No particular order to these...
1. Play so well against Liberty, our second and third team players get a decent amount of playing time so our whole team can be more prepared for Tennessee.
2. Play a close hard fought game against Tennessee, whether we win or lose (obviously win).
3. For the love of God, beat ECU and PITT!
4. More punt and FG blocks!!!
5. Show Bronco that it will take more than yoga to beat us in football.
6. I'd love to see 10 wins
7. Continue bowl streak
8. Hang with ND... I think they will continue to be a tough team to play this year
9. Win a GD ALLMAROONEVERYTHING game!!
10. Make Lane the feared fortress it used to be
11. Our offense actually look like it knows what it's doing on the field. No more run, run, pass, punt. For the love of god don't heavily rely on the LPD/DBU.
12. End the season as a good springboard into Fuente's second year.
That was my thought s well. At least 1 special teams block per game. "ShibestBall" (too soon?)...
It's never too soon for that!! 1 per game may be a stretch, but I like where your head's at!
Have the First Lady of TKP attend a game at Lane. I can dream right? RIGHT?!
This gif bouncing to Enter Sandman being played live by Metallica
Me if that were to happen:

A team not hovering around .500 ball (8 or more wins) would be nice.
I only want us win all our pre-season scrimmages and to beat UT and ND, and uvA, and uNc, and pItt, and Ducke, and ECwho?, and Liberty, and the whoU, and Gyaja ech, and BC, and SU, and FSU in ACCCG, and Oregon in the semis, and Alabamer in the final. Other than that, I won't complain.
1. All the heismen finalists invited to New York/wherever. Only Hokies.
2. 0 punts and 0 interceptions
3. National Championship
4. Undefeated
5. Shutout UVA
6. Make Bronco Cry
7. Fuente is exposed to a radioactive space storm and becomes the Human Torch
Realistically? I'll take any 3 of those.
10+ wins.
ACC championship appearance.
Top 10 defense.
Top 30 offense.
Edmunds' become new Fullers.
No awful uniforms
TKP TE joke evolves to H-back joke in light of new offense.
I want to see Defensive shutouts. We haven't had one since the 2012 season. I would like to see at least 2:
One against LOLuva and one against an FBS team.
i like what you did there. have a leg
Healthy Players.
9+ Wins.
Coastal Champs.
Beat ECU & Pitt.
Have respect going into next season.
a Signature Win (ND, UT)
At least 9 wins
Offense brings fear to opposing defenses
Stout D
ACC Championship game
LOLUVA gets upset by Richmond, Colin Cowherd goes to Charlottesville and punches Bronco right in the neck
What's the earliest week we can lock up the coastal division?
11/5
I want that feeling back where I know we're gonna just hit the other team square in the mouth, where I expect to keep the other team less than 100 yards rushing. Where I believe any time it's 3 and 2 or more, we will stop them. I want to feel the opposing team's fear stagnate in the air when they stand across from or defense. I want to see the defense have that swagger again.
Oh and pummel UVA so deep into the ground they have to join the Chinese Football League as cheerleaders. Welcome to the Fuente Era!
Return of full-on, D-Block lockdown swagger.
-I want to beat Liberty so badly they are triggered anytime they see a football, hear Enter Sandman, watch the movie Incredible Hulk, smell a turkey leg...
-I want to beat UT handily. I don't want the Vol fans to be able to say, "if such and such happened, we would have won." I want them to know without a doubt who the best team is when they limp back to Knoxville.
-I want Loeffler to know we don't miss him one bit.
-I want to make ECU regret they even considered letting Ruffin go.
-I want a close game with UNC and just when they think they have it in the bag, our D steals the game and deflates their hearts.
-I want a win against Syracuse.
-I want an interception and sack fest against Miami in a defensive blitzkrieg win.
-I want to crush Pitt.
-I want a win at Duke.
-I want a win against GT while a freak play sends Tim Settle into CPJ's knees on the sidelines. During his recovery he vows to never chop block again.
-I want to beat ND so badly touchdown Jesus looks more like the shrug emoji.
-I want Sam and the seniors to sip the tears of Bronco and the rest of the hoos from the Commonwealth Cup before taking it downtown and guzzling some rails from it.
-I want to stomp Clemson in the ACC Championship.
-I want the NC to come down to us and an undefeated Alabama, who we proceed to whip like it's the 1998 Music City Bowl.
I don't ask for much.
I love all those things..I want those same things...I'm like Steve from The Italian Job...I'm just going to take everyone else's ideas
This would be the greatest thing ever. 12/10
TDs - 38 INTs- 4
TDs - 4 INTs - 38
offense
defense
i like it
After seeing Stewie Mandel's ACC predictions, I want to see him wiping the egg off his face.
http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/gallery/cfb-preseason-picks-pr...
who is Stewart Mandel and has he been under a rock? Just because VT went 7-6 last year doesn't mean there is no cause for excitement. This guy clearly doesn't realize this VT squad that Fuente is inheriting actually has more talent than the Memphis team he built
LOL he has FSU beating Pitt in the ACC CG. I doubt either team actually gets there. I think Clemson wins Atlantic handily...(does FSU even have a QB this year?) and I can think of 3 other teams more likely to win the Coastal than Pitt. (UNC, Miami, VT)
what is he smoking?
Man. That's terrible. That's bulletin board stuff. He is getting destroyed on twitter for it as well. I've seen Miami fans on there say he's stupid for picking us to finish 6th.
In case anyone is curious, he picked us to win the ACC last year...
so clearly he knows what he's talking about...who did he have winning the Atlantic? NCSt?
Louisville
http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/florida-state-seminoles-...
Had Louisville winning it. Also had Clemson with 4 losses
is he even considered a credible source? These predictions are laughable...I'm pretty sure most half-way sane fans of any team in the league could put more realistic predictions on paper
He works for FOX Sports. That is the base definition of irrelevant.
I might not dismiss him outright. Yeah, he's not Phil Steele, but he was the top SI CFB writer until Fox gave him a sweetheart deal during their attempted takeover of CFB properties (including him and Erin Andrews). Having said that, he's still just another journalist. As far as mainstream outlets are concerned, I've been a fan of Andy Staples recently (although Punt Pass & Pork is half garbage. Andy, I don't care about your random rankings of non-football stuff, nor do I care about what you ate on your last road trip).
Oh, no I agree. I read the hell of of Mandel when he was with SI. But the reach of SI far exceeds that of FOX Sports, and while he may put out some good info nowadays, stuff like this does reek of being controversial to get page views on a website that is sorely lacking them.
Yup. It's tragic that he left, I used to love to read him but I didn't follow him over to Fox.
It appears that he didn't do much research in this case, given that he said that Fuente "...does not inherit much cause for excitement on either side of the ball."
You know, except our OL, receiving corps, and tailbacks. QB is the only real question mark on offense, as well as the ability to adapt to a new offensive system.
And on defense, we do bring back a good DL with some talent, as well as some expectations that the inexperience in the secondary will progress admirably.
and how could you not be excited about bringing Bud back?
We bring back the only returning 1,000 yard receiver in the ACC last year, while turning over our offensive coaching staff from one that couldn't spell offense if you spotted them all the consonants to one that is being led by an offensive guru. Oh, and not to mention the TE that many were picking to be a potential 1st round talent last year before injuries plagued our offense. But yeah, he's right, nothing to be excited about.
*sigh*, you hate to see the good writers start getting desperate for page clicks.
HAHA
all I could think was this:

And now for a sneak look inside Stewie's method of prediction:
via GIPHY
A 50+ yard field goal! THIS IS THE YEAR JOEY!
Not having to kick any field goals!
we'll do it anyway...not because we have to...but because we want to.
we'll cause a fumble against [insert whichever team you hate most] late in the first half and recover the ball right around the 38 yard line and use a timeout to stop the clock with 1 second left. We'll kick the field goal to end the half with a 31-0 lead
I was talking with a co-worked one Sunday about why don't more teams take that chance at the end of the first half? You're at midfield, no time to score short of a Hail Mary, and you've already got the lead.
A short time later, someone tied the NFL record for longest field goal in that exact scenario.
This might be one reason....
Of course you did say at the end of the first half......
Offense PPG: 35.0 (2015 was 31.0ppg)
Defense PPG: 22.0 (2015 was 26.3ppg)
TOP: 31:27 (2015 was 31:27)
Turnover Margin: +7 (2015 was +4)
I'd like to see the offense and defense be consistent. I don't want the stats inflated because of one or two amazing games.
The NCAA rules that it was, indeed, a catch, reversing four years of downward spiraling of, mockery for, and contempt of, the Virginia Tech football program, which has an effect of rewriting history into an upward trajectory for the program, such that we beat Bama for the 2013 NCG, beat the Patriots in the 2014 Super Bowl, beat the Giants in the 2015 World Series, and finally, beat China in ping pong in the 2016 Summer Olympics for the gold, becoming the first football team in history to win a championship in three sports.
If not, then 9 wins and a potent Fuente offense would be nice too.
1- A swarming defense.
2- More sacks. Last year was embarrassing.
3- An offense that doesn't take its foot off the gas when only up by 10pts.
I was listening to ESPN radio up here on the way home yesterday and they hit on a point that I think is the most important for me this season:
I want to see us win the games we should win.
By that I mean that I want to see us progress and beat the teams that we should beat given our talent, experience, and expectation that both the offense and the defense will be better this year than in years past. This means that we could conceivably lose a few games - ND, perhaps Tenn, perhaps Pitt, perhaps UNC, perhaps Miami. I would expect us to win at least one of those but if all of those teams live up to their billings this year, then they should all be pretty good.
However, if we lose to ECU, Liberty, LOLUVA, Duke, GT, Boston College, or Syracuse, I'll be really disappointed. As far as I can tell right now, we should be 7-5 this year without breaking too much of a sweat. If we progress a little better than I'm projecting and one or more of the teams that I think should beat us either regress, implode, or suffer massive injuries, then I think our ceiling is 10-2.
I just don't want to lose to a team that we should beat. I'd be content with that.
So much this. Nothing has maddened me more in the past seasons than losing to teams we shouldn't have.
What I really want for this season is for it to start. Two weeks and less than an hour, bay-beee!
I just want to beat Tennessee. I don't care what else happens.
I'd LOVE that, but I'd still want to beat UVa and make a bowl game.
I agree with all of the aforementioned aspirations. For my own wish, it is for VT Football to become relevant and worthy of being discussed again. We aren't in the preseason polls, we have become an afterthought. I know we have to earn our respect back, and I am pleased with the hire of CJF and the direction we are headed, with no disrespect to CFB and where we have been.
It just kills me not seeing us in the top 25....yet. I remember those days of checking the weekly polls and watching us climb each week (think Big East days). Then there was that year when the stars aligned and we were in New Orleans. Then there was Bryan and Tyrod and Kevin and Daryl and so many others.
I just want us to be THAT team again. It doesn't have to happen all this year, even though it would be frikkin' great! No more needing to win 2 of the last 3 just to make it to some [insert name of obscure sponsor] bowl game.
I like what I hear coming from camp. I am thankful that our young men are handling their business when each day there seems to be players names from the Big Boys scrolling on the ESPN ticker for off the field issues. I enjoy hearing Bud being Bud and look forward to his continued antics and masterful adjustments on game day. I'm all on board the hype train to see this offense.
I just hope. (Insert Morgan Freeman's voiceover from Shawshank Redemption here.)
Let's go........!!!!
Hokies!
