Report: Hokies Add Walk-On Center Nicholas Fullard to Basketball Program

Buzz Williams has added Nicholas Fullard, a 6-foot-ten center from Belmont Abbey College (Division II), to the Hokies' basketball program, per a report from the Richmond Times-Dispatch's Mike Barber.

Fullard started all 28 games for the Crusaders as a sophomore, but averaged just 3.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest. Fullard, who played his high school ball at St. Mary's Ryken in Maryland, will have two years of remaining eligibility for the Hokies after sitting out in 2016-2017 due to transfer rules.

The lanky Fullard will join rising senior Johnny Hamilton and incoming freshman Khadim Sy in the Hokies' front-court behind returning standouts Zach LeDay and Kerry Blackshear.

I'm in full-on football mode, because I read that title and thought "I'll take all the OL help we can get, but how did we add a center this late?"

If you play it, they will win.

He has to sit next year correct?

Yes. According to the Barber story. Two years eligibility.

Initially it was reported he could play immediately, but yes, it appears he will sit out this season.

Sounds like he can use the extra time to develop. Here's hoping.
