Ugh. Should have. Totally didn't think of it. Actually, I don't think there was a return address on it at all. One way ticket. Whoever ended up with the flag and hat would have been better for it.

Thats possibly one of the greatest pictures ever. I wish I could tell if that was an F-18 or an F-15 but I'm leaning towards it being a super hornet

Strike Fighter Squadron 41 (VFA-41) also known as the "Black Aces", is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California (USA).
The "Black Aces" are an operational fleet squadron that flies the F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Black Aces are attached to Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9), which are currently deployed aboard the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74). Their radio callsign is "Fast Eagle" and their tailcode is NG.

My cousin, Marine Corps Huey gunship pilot, explained them to me a few months back while I was visiting Camp Pendleton.

I love this picture too ....obviously. It is my inspiration which will soon be replicated while I flyover Lane Stadium inverted, if the sequestration ever ends :/

Definitely a Super Hornet....the square intakes and transponder mount on the nose set it apart from one of the Legacy Hornets.

VFA stands for "Fighter/Attack" - Navy squadrons are all coded - V stands for Fixed Wing, F for fighter, A for attack. The old F-14s use to be just "VF" as they were mostly dedicated fighters.

I hadn't seen that before; thanks for sharing. 2007-2008 was my Sophomore year and watching those highlights really brings me back. Being in the stands for the ECU game was probably the most cathartic experience of my life.
