New VT football equipment trailer

There was some lamenting a while back about the ND equipment truck: http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2016/january/30/recruiting-antics

Well Hokie Racing over on TSL just posted some sweet pics of the new VT equipment truck. Not that I'm bias, but it looks a helluva lot better than that navy and gold crap :)

Oh I thought it was a video. It's an actual trailer for a heavy duty truck. That thing better run on LNG.

On second thought, maybe I'll make a video trailer of all the trailers.

Ha ha ha.
Me too, I clicked and was like 'nice truck, but where's the video about our new cleats?!'

In TKP-ese, 'trailer' means kick ass video that pre-hypes you for the season. Post-hyping is allowed as well.
However, using 'trailer' to refer to wheeled transport is confusing.

"New VT equipment lorry"

I wonder what kind of truck it is. Looks like a big Ford to me.

The Dude Abides

I know what you're doing..so before ridiculing me with the *joke over head* gifs realize that I know what you're actually referring to....

now that that is out of the way...does Ford even make a big rig? I know Volvo does. And Peterbilt. International. I'm sure GM has one...I don't know if I've ever seen (or noticed) a Ford. But I don't really keep up with those types of things. Anybody know?

Onward and upward

I believe they went the way of the Dodo. When I owned my business I bought it with a couple older ford trucks. One was a dump truck and the other was a tanker truck. When I looked into it I believe they stopped producing them in the 90s. Now they focus on those huge 650/750 for the medium sized class.

I think you mean CNG. The tanks to house LNG would be huge.

Nah, I meant LNG. My final paper for my dual master's in IE/OR is dealing with optimal locations of LNG refueling stations for heavy duty trucks on the PA turnpike. CNG has been adopted by other vehicles, like your standard consumer trucks all the way up to buses (like Blacksburg Transit and CATA buses here in State College) but LNG appears to be the currently preferred alternative for long-range trucks (class 8+), and is the focus of our study

Yeah LNG def has more energy than CNG. I've only worked with LNG on ships and know the regulations for storing are intense. The thickness of insulation, along with additional material, required to keep the fuel at optimum temperature causes the tanks to be huge and heavy thus not as good an option on ships.

Here's the HokiesFB Tweet with some pics:

Thanks! Wasn't on the twitters this morning, been too busy at work. Just happened to check TSL at lunch and thought TKP would be interested as well.

Is it too late to put Devon Hunter on the side of the trailer?

For comparison's sake

Lol!!!

Those were actually the captions I had before editing down. Felt it in poor form to label Beamer old and busted

It's ok for that GIF though because Tommy Lee Jones is a bad ass - even if he is kind of old.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I do, it's a rolling advertisement, where Tech looked cheap compared to even community colleges and their equipment trucks.

He's no good to me dead.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Somebody needs to figure out the most efficient travel route to have this thing drive past every top recruit's house on our list.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

ND did that within the last year or two. I think there was some potential violation because Kelly also arrived at the kid's house. I believe ND said that Kelly was in the truck, but it was a kid far from ND's campus and there was no way he took the equipment truck down there.

There is some kind of NCAA rule about this.

forgot to include the /s at the end of my post. Aware of the ND truck visits.

Finally! Two years ago we were using a yellow Penske truck.

Also, I love how we jacked "Hard. Smart. Tough." from Memphis.

Or our coach brought his philosophy with him...

Seems Torrian took "DBU" with him...

@hokietailgate

Just because you use the hashtag, TG, it doesn't make it true. LOL

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

LSU, Florida, WVU, and FSU have all claimed they are DBU in the past.

Ohio State and Texas as well. They can say what they want, but there's only one DBU. Numbers don't lie

Any chance they're looking for a former VT student with specifically 3 months experience of CDL driving?

My dad has 27 years experience and over 2 million miles. He's got this.

Awesome, Kenworths are usually my favorite to drive and I like what he did with it. I'll be slip seating in day cabs once I find a place to live so I won't get the opportunity to represent VT in such way. It's sort of unfortunate too, I drive through Ann Arbor a lot so I'd love to have a truck that says "It was a catch".

My brother in law caught somebody trying to break into the back of his refrigerated rig in Ohio. He closed him in and let him go in South Dakota.

Ahhh kidnapping, but a lighthearted version

Kinda related, you know, trucks and stuff. Look what I found hiding behind Charlotte Motor Speedway a couple of weeks ago.

Star crossed trailers sneaking around behind their fan bases backs?

See, now here I go on the conspiracy theories again. It's plainly obvious that the Tennessee trailer is way nicer than the VT trailer. Look at the wheels! Look at the low profile body on the Tennessee trailer while the VT trailer looks like a converted reefer trailer that was hauling Food City groceries 3 months ago. You can't tell me Haslam's Pilot Oil money is being distributed fairly.

Update: Optical illusion got the best of me. Still not striking through my game outcome conspiracy theory.

I'm calling it now. This game is going to be determined by a "pass interference" call a la USC or a Danny Coale type review. I'd rather just watch Tennessee whoop our asses than for there to be obvious dirty pool going on.

Go bud, look again, they are the same trailer, your seeing the wheels etc of a trailer parked next to the VT one.

Oh my God there's a flat bed in that picture!!!!

I'm about 30 minutes from Charlotte Motor Speedway. I'm gonna move that frickin flatbed right now!

Please

look at the size of our wheels... LOOK AT THEM... big fat fatties on that truck, because it knows it needs to support all the weight of the Battle at Bristol Champions gear for after the fact.
