I'm not sure how many people have looked into this yet but the AP Poll is at http://collegefootball.ap.org/poll.
Take home points:
ACC has two of the top 3 teams.
4 teams in the top 25 (5 if you count the Irish).
SEC has 6 teams in the top 25.
SEC has 2 teams in the top 10.
Houston is #6.
Texas is ranked #11.
Tennessee is ranked #17.
Miami is ranked?

There should be no teams with a loss in the top 25 after week one. I don't care that ND and OU lost to "good competition" they still have a loss!
While I half agree with you, I enjoy seeing big time matches week one. If you could only get ranked once you won, everyone would be playing Richmond week one.
Wait...
Before this week, I would likely have agreed with you. But after watching the ND/Texas game, I really feel like they should be ranked near each other, with the winner (Texas) obviously being ranked higher. I mean, those two went back and forth, and going into 2OT, it mainly came down to endurance and attrition.
100% agreed. I think ND isn't as good this year as they were last year, and think that Texas is way better this year than last, but that game didn't convince me that ND was particularly unworthy of being top 15, just that Texas probably deserved to be there too.
I whole heartedly disagree. If a #10 team loses to a #2 team, that was the expected outcome. That's what these rankings are for. Should the #10 drop? Absolutely, but they shouldn't drop out of the polls because they lost to a team that is expected to be better than them.
Its worth noting however, that I think preseason rankings are dumb and should not be a thing.
Houston is basically in a "win and you're in" situation. They deserve that after beating Oklahoma. Good for them!
...assuming OU was any good in the first place.
If they end up going 7-6 then that win sucks and UH shouldn't necessarily be shoe'd in.
As long as they don't go doing something dumb like printing up "Mission Accomplished" shirts, they should be fine.
Wow, well I guess the Vols really aren't a top 10 team...
All jokes aside, I'm surprised they fell that far and I'm disappointed that it's no longer a battle of VT underdog vs top 10 SEC.
Wisconsin to 10th? What a jump...
They beat an SEC team, they must be the best in the nation. /s
Forgot that Loo-ville is in the ACC.
Me too. I think I forget that fact just as soon as I remember it, and I think that is how it will always be.
Me right now.
They're not truly in the ACC for me until we play them, damn it!
Am I the only person that thinks So Cal may be good on paper but was a tad over rated in pre season polls? Seems Alabamy may actually have one of the easier paths to the championship being in the mighty SEC than either Clemson, FSU, Michigan, tOSU or Louisville? The next SEC fan that tells me "y'all don't play nobody" or "we're in the SEC so 4 losses is still top 10 material" may get a straight up terrible 2s temper tantrum / freak out spectacular / or a one punch man saitama special. Living in Scott Co and moving to Church Hill TN has taken a toll on my sanity. It's worse my wife is a student @ Alabama. FML how did I get here? Must... Keep... Composure...!
Hokie Nation is with you, Hillbilly. Stay strong!
More like FMW(ife).
Figuratively or literally? I hate Alabama sooo much. I worked at sequoyah nuclear power house down in chatanooga and all those Alabama fans finish every sentence with "roll tide". I.E. " I just got poop on my hand when I wiped my ass ROLL TIDE". You really have to watch your demeanor working in a nuclear environment. You could literally get shot for the wrong move. Acting crazy to uppity BAMA fans and getting clapped for it would be sad. Anyway....
Hey, their degrees are used for something!
You assume they have them. :)
I disagree, USCw wasn't a "tad" overrated. They didn't belong ranked at all.
they are literally overrated every single year. It's impressive. USC and ND are consistently overrated year in and year out
Can someone explain how Washington and Iowa are ranked???
LSU was horrifically overrated.
Yeah. It's pretty clear that LSU isn't a top ten team, but after a few weeks they may still be worth top 25. Wisconsin jumping that much for beating them is pretty ridiculous but massive shuffling between now and October should be expected.
I don't know if anyone else caught it, but ESPN had a video up yesterday where a panel including Finebaum was talking about whether the SEC is still the best conference. Finebaum's answer was 'no', and then the panel began talking about the others who are up there.
Completely absent from the discussion - the ACC. They talked on and on about how the B1G was now the best because of Ohio St and Michigan... But nothing about the ACC. I mean ignore the fact the ACC has 2 of the top 3, and 4 in the Top 25... no, our conference couldn't possibly be in the discussion....
Of course, because they admitted the SEC isn't the best, ESPN has already taken down the video and any reference to it
