Due to a SNAFU with childcare, Mrs O and I are likely going to bring our three girls (ages 8, 6, 6) to the game this weekend. My thought is that I should be able to find 3 tickets via scalpers for less than the current Stubhub pricing.
Any tips for where to get them, or should I just go stubhub now?
Thanks, I'm pretty much an OCD person and have never shown up without tickets, so this is uncharted water for me.

Go near the stadium people are usually waaaaay less mean about it there and sell em for cheaper
I usually just tailgate hopped and eventually found a scalper. Unless you're flying in or making a big production about it you shouldn't have a scalping problem.
Stubhub is practically highway robbery and their fee structure is insane. I've never had a problem getting tickets for at least 1/3 less than stubhub prices.
The group I tailgate with usually ends up with extra tickets. I assume that happens a good bit, so I'd recommend wandering the tailgates with kids in tow asking if anyone has extra tickets. Less likely to get screwed by people selling fake tickets, too.
People don't really sell fakes do they? /s
By the way MikeO, I'll sell you my extras, face value...here's a photo to prove they're the real deal:
Those are really good seats

People actually believe that.
I bought tickets for LU easily on TSL forums (theres a member and non-member ticket forum) for below face value. Obv always a risk, but I had no issues.
Walk the tailgates with your hand up indicating how many you need.
Only carry the max amount you are willing to pay in one pocket. Start with half of what your max is work up to the max. If they go higher than that, say thanks and walk on.
Don't go to the guys with the "I need tickets" sign; they're not going to sell for less than they paid and are typically rude.
For a game like ecu, you should be able to find them for $20 tops (maybe higher if you need 3 together)
Also, older Hokies are the best. I love them and have often been given a free ticket. I will pay it forward to students in the future when I'm an old Hokie
especially if you ask with your kids around. I've even been invited to join tailgates, in part, cause older alumni thought my kids were "just adorable."
#sauces: the last ticket I paid for was...Auburn at the Sugar bowl I think. That being said, most of the time I lived in walking distance to the stadium so if I struck out it wasn't a big deal and I at least usually got lunch covered.
We've had this discussion before, and my advice then still applies. Assuming you don't hook up with the Asspocket, a great way to get the tix is to bring the kids around like suggested, make sure you are all wearing Hokie gear, then troll the high dollar lots close to the stadium asking everyone you can at the tailgates. Like the man said up above, getting the tickets together can be tougher, but while nobody wants to leave a seat empty or a ticket unused, it always seemed to me that the higher rollers were less likely to try to hold you up and more likely not to actively try to sell the ticket while being absolutely amenable to selling them. Good luck and let us know how you solve the problem.
This is a great line.
I have always been interested in how the "I need tickets" guys make money. I have sold my extra tickets to them a few times and they have always immidiatley offered me face value for each ticket. But when people ask them if they have tickets to sell, they say no.
As for buying tickets, if you have the patience, wait till you are walking into the stadium. Usually people are so desperate to dump their extra tickets, they will take whatever you offer.
Sold.
I can see it now... "Dad these are great seats, where did you get the tickets??" "I got them from AssPocketFullOWhiskey!"
Hey, my seats are great for kids. To the restroom or concession stand in 1 minute or less or your money back.
Which, coincidentally, is also convenient for an adult who has enjoyed their asspocket full of whiskey.
Why, surely I have no idea what you're playing at!!!
We have a TKP Ticket Board that you can check out as well
The bigger question is how are you all going to sit in the same place? I expect ECU to travel well, it is homecoming, the stadium should be pretty full
If push comes to shove you go upper south endzone. There are always open spots up there
Sorry to go off topic here , but what's the best airport to fly into from out of state ? I plan on being there for a few days whenever i do make the trip and visit different areas .
Roanoke is the closest commercial airport. After that your best bet is probably Charlotte.
Raleigh is also not that far about an hour more drive. than CLT
Absolute best is Blacksburg, but unless you have your own plane or chartered, that's not gonna happen.
Next is Roanoke if you survive the landing.
Lynchburg or Charlottesville are the next closest, but usually you're making an extra hop to get there so the price goes up.
Charlotte is good only because tickets are cheaper.
Greensboro could also be an option if you don't mind coming through Floyd on the way to the game.
-FTFY
also GSO is ridiculously easy to get in and out of. Can be cheap if booked far enough in advance.
Just fly into Roanoke.
Thanks for the tips !
I needed an extra this week, so I sent an email at work and had two people offer me tickets at face value within 20 minutes.
Techsideline has been a good resource for me over the years
Since this doesn't seem worthy of a whole thread, I'll ask here. Where are good places to park? I've never had to deal with this before because I've wither been an MV or been able to walk/bus there.
I guess that all depends on how far you want to walk and if you want to pay and which direction you're heading after the game.
Also, remember that South Gate is, for all intents and purposes, shut down at this point as they work on the new interchange. So don't expect to get in or out that way very easily.
I stick with the Prices Fork lots. And I'm never in a hurry to leave. Why be in a mad dash back to the car to just sit in traffic on 460?
Plus, there was one time that we showed up at 6:30 am for a 3:30 game, and we beat the money collectors to the lot.
