This past weekend was a huge recruiting weekend with close to twenty basketball recruiting prospects on campus. Hokie Nation didn't have to wait long to see the weekend pay dividends.
#Hokies Virginia Tech with 2019 trifecta - Virginia Tech landed a trio of 2019 prospects in B.J. Mack, Keyshaun... https://t.co/FyfTlCGw2B— VTScoop247 (@VTScoop247) September 23, 2016
It appears VTZone, Scout, broke the news first. The news being that Buzz received verbal commitments from Langley Twins and BJ Mack for the 2019 class.

2017 4* PG Wabissa Bede (72nd Nationally) will be taking an official to Blacksburg this weekend. Some serious recruiting momentum with his crystal ball moving from 100% Butler to 89% VT in the past two days.
Bede was the good news I was hoping for. And if he commits as well as these three guys that's just icing on the Buzzketball cake.
Bede is a beast, I honestly believe his rankings are too low for his play. During the ADIDAS circuit this summer he and makai ashton langford led there team to an undeafeated record. Asthon-Langford is ranked higher, but the few times I saw there games Bede was the best player on the court. I really hope we can land him, would be a great backcourt partner to NAW.
All. The. Point. Guards.
bump for a relevant update
I AM HYPED.
Identical twins who play the same position and have very similar ratings? Sounds like a damn good idea for PG rotation in a few years.
Between the Brothers Langley and the Brothers LeDay, it's like we're building a hoops team on family culture or something.
Next step: basketball Fullers
If each fuller has triplets, that's a full 12 man rotation. We could have a team of ONLY Fullers
Thanks for the laugh. Couldn't think of a more appropriate name.
I am happy about this until I realize that they are from the class of 2019 and therefore were born after Michael Vick went Pro
Sweet, I can yell "KOBE!" when we shoot the ball now!!
Seriously! Damn near 3 top 100 players in the country?! In the same weekend?!
for 2019! That's three years from now. Incredible.
So these guys haven't even played their sophomore season of high school yet and Mack is already 6'7", 250!!
Does this mean we'll be fighting off the bluebloods for the next three years?
Ugh we have to wait so long.
Not so fast my friend! We already have a 4* for 2017 and another 4* for 2018. Not to mention a few more highly ranked 4*s trending towards us.
I don't think Jaren McAllister, the 2018 guy, has been mentioned much,
The back of the Langley twins uniforms will be busy. Unless they want to mess with people and just put their last name, its like the Swiss army knife of point guards,

It's probably going to take until 2019 before I'm used to being excited about both football and basketball at the same time
No but seriously.... Our Athletic Department as a whole right now is on an unbelievable trajectory. Football looks like we actually legitimately have an offense. And not just an offense, but a pretty darn good one at that, which should vault us back up to where we should be in the national scene. Basketball is acquiring talent like we never have before to the point where we might actually be a team with staying power once we reach the levels of ranked teams. Wrestling looks like we're actually legitimately gunning for a National Title, and we very well could have the pieces in place to make a serious run over the next 4 years. Women's soccer is quietly right there as well, having established itself as one of the top programs in the conference, a conference where any of the Top 4 teams in any given year could win the National Title. And then you have baseball, which just announced a massive renovation project to turn English Field into one of the better facilities in the ACC, which should pay off dividends in recruiting once its done.
Seriously, its hard to realize everything that's legitimately going on with the program right now. Whit Babcock has completely transformed this Athletic Department overnight into something that is striving to be the best. I never thought I would ever see the day where some sort of complacency and falling back on the "well, we're just a small school from SW Va, what do you expect" really didn't exist anymore, and yet here we are. Its really unbelievable what's going on in Merryman nowadays.
I met Charles Steger a few times while I was at Tech and he was a great guy and left big shoes to fill, but it seems like Dr. Sands may have been one of the best moves the school has made in recent history and has really brought a new life everywhere, Academically and Athletically.
I'll always be a lifelong supporter of the best place on earth, but I'm REALLY excited to see what happens over the next few years in Blacksburg.
Yep, Sands was an outstanding hire, and is going to take the university to the next level academically. I've seen some of the things they have in the pipeline that haven't been announced, yet, and man, if they get the funding for everything, our profile is going to be so good.
Athletically, I'm not sure we could done better than Babcock. Sure, we have strides to go for fundraising, but they're actively working on finding a system that works, and its only a matter of time before it comes. What I'm most impressed is that we're actively trying to eradicate the small town mindset and embrace the fact we should be acting like a premier program of the region. We're actively trying to reach our potential, which... I don't know how anyone couldn't find that exciting.
I have decided to delete a (potentially) overcritical comment
Don't forget, our men's soccer team - which we usually choose to ignore, for good reason - is now ranked top-20 nationally. What a time to be alive.
And if you're in town tonight, they take on #7 Clemson at 6 PM!
And men's soccer is back inside the top 20 as well, only loss so far this season was at #1 Notre Dame.I'll drink when I get home from work...
Holy shit
