Being the ACC Network game of the week 2 of 4 times is something, right?
Just woke up at a house in Charlottesville because one of my best friends from high school is getting married, in Charlottesville, on a UVA home game day. Something only a UVA grad would do... to be fair his future wife told me last night they had it this weekend because the two of us Hokie groomsmen had told them if they had the wedding on the Bristol weekend, we wouldn't have come.

To follow this up we just walked around "grounds" for the past hour. I saw one group tailgating in a completely empty parking lot. By group I mean 3 people sitting in chairs behind a car wearing orange. There is no buzz, no excitement and nobody giving a crap. It's almost sad. Makes me appreciate Blacksburg and the game day electricity that you can feel in the air every Saturday all the more! We've certainly got a special environment for football and college overall. Go Hokies!

The TuneIn app worked really well. Dropped a couple times due to buffering in 3G areas but once we got up to DC the radio was strong enough for the remainder of the drive. Only downside was accidentally streaming the ECU broadcast at first. Figured it out quickly and switched to Burnop/Laaser. Wife now wants to mute the TV and listen to the radio at home.
Even considering the game, listening to them was the most entertaining experience I've had watching a Hokie game away from Lane.

There was no watchespn blackout week 1 for me, even though it was on locally. I think the new deal with ESPN that created a ACC Network as part of ESPN3 might have done away with that.

In the early days, I think they were pretty risque. Seems like they've toned it down since, but, yeah, they often seem to outshine the cheer squad.

Yea, we've been way off the national radar for 5 years or so. It's hard to swallow, but I get it. When you've been a .500, middle of the ACC team for several years, and you aren't a traditional power, there just isn't much to talk about nationally.
Realistically, we're much closer to a Kansas State (in terms of national rep) than we'd like to accept.
Hopefully, Coach Fuente gets us back into the top 25 regularly. I definitely see the potential and like what he's building.
Anybody know if the ACC Network checks location of your stream? I'm in Ecuador and haven't tried this yet.
I've relied on the radio stream through IMG previously, so I can always fall back on that.

Slightly off topic but I was watching the ACC pregame show and the talking heads were making their picks for the Atlantic division champion. Apparently Clemson is the predominant favorite due to the quality of Brent Venables defense.
I found it mildly amusing that his claim to fame (according to Wikipedia) is being one of five finalists for the 2006 Broyles Award. That particular year's award was won by none other than our own Bud Foster.

I see where you're coming from, but this is the game Bud wants to play. Getting good DL pressure, taking away the run and short passing game, and forcing them to bomb it down the field for low-percentage chances is exactly what he wants to do. ECU may hit a few of those big plays, but it's not an effective way to run the offense.

It's the way the rule was revised after the Danny Coale situation (literally). Possession must be maintained through the completion of the catch, all the way to the ground. Doesn't matter if he was in and had possession when he hit, if it isn't secure, it's not a catch. The ball can actually touch the ground as long as the ground does not help the receiver maintain control. Basically, the rule says Danny caught the ball, and clarifies it for everyone else.

I think our mentality has changed dramatically.
It used to be "dont sweat the 3-and-outs, the defense will do it's job." Now I feel like it's "score every drive and be ashamed when you don't. This is not the defense's game to win, it's ours."
The defense's job is to get the ball back so the offense can score again.
So I've been watching that Evans run and something that really stands out is the O-Lineman who have run all the way down the field and are blocking people at the goaline when Evans gets in.
Also, Cam Phillips runs past Evans and gets just enough of somebody at about the five yard line for Evans to get by.
My 16 yr old pointed out the same thing. 3-4 of the line was inside the 10 yd line throwing blocks. Um that's a change
