That's fine, I know we have some similarities. But we've already done that. I would have preferred Tennessee, Texas or Oklahoma.

but, hey, we got Penn St, Michigan, Ohio State, aTm, WVU, Wisky.......damn. That's some fine work.

2014: Ohio State
2015: Ohio State
2016: A&M, Notre Dame
2017: A&M, Clemson
2018: FSU
2019: Wisconsin
2020: Wisconsin, Michigan
2021: WVU, Michigan
2022: Penn State, WVU
2023: Penn State, FSU

I'd like to see us have at least two big time games a year...probably too late for '14, '15, but I'd like to see us have another team for '18 '19. Tennessee immediately comes to mine.

I like how FSU is in there with all the non-conference teams. They pretty much are non-conference with the current ACC schedule rotation.

edit: Do I see a future one time neutral site game with a big time out of conference opponent in 2018? a la Chick-fil-A Kickoff game.

VT '10 #AllMaroonEverything

You'll find Clemson in the list too.

oops don't know how I missed them and their crazy cocaine eyes

VT '10 #AllMaroonEverything

Hasn't ND been rumored to appear in Blacksburg in 2018?

Yes

Just for the sake of comparison, here's UVA:

2014: UCLA, BYU, FSU
2015: UCLA, Boise State, Auburn, Notre Dame
2016: Oregon
2017: Stanford, Boise State
2018: Stanford
2019: BYU, FSU
2020: BYU, Clemson

2015 looks difficult, I guess London thinks the young pups will be ready by then.

That's a shame for whoever the head coach is in 2015.

So it looks like even the west coast teams know how awful the Hoos are and were lining up at a shot at them.

@vtscottyb

Honestly, I think the west coast teams want to play there to attempt to create a foothold in the 757. Smashing UVA in front of a bunch of kids from the beach would make a great impression...I'll put it this way, if ODU was in a BCS conference, they would be playing there instead.

ODU is in a BCS conference (CUSA), just not a AQ conference. The only school in the BCS but not in a BCS conference is Notre Dame.

#Let's Go - Hokies

CUSA isn't one of the 6 BCS conferences. The "new CUSA", or the AAC, is one, but only til next year when there's only going to be a "Big 5" conferences in the playoff system.

That's interesting that they are so West-Coast focused. I remember when they lost to USC at a night game that Weaver and Beamer commented on how that travel may have cost them and would cost them the next week too. Basically, you're losing 2 days of prep, one for each week.

This was also the reason given for WVU's swoon in the second half of the season last year. Now that they're in the Big 12, they have extensive travelling every conference away game.

That and they were wildly overrated because of one really good bowl win (cough Louisville cough cough)

It was a catch

And their offense that could score at will, seemingly...

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Well, yes, they hung 70 on Clemson in the Orange but that's neither here nor there. Big 12 defenses are regularly abused by prolific passing attacks, and Holgorsen was already familiar with all the defenses he was going to face (flip side, they already knew him, too). They did beat ranked Texas and Baylor teams during the early season stretch (plus many creampuffs).

But I would not rule out Louisville. Bridgewater is legit, and they only lost a CB and a center (neither of which were drafted). Then they added Michael Dyer. With a weak schedule (and I mean they play NOBODY), I'm expecting them to go undefeated. The only remaining question for me is whether their SOS will keep them out of the MNC. Any two major conference undefeated teams will get the nod before them, but if they live up to expectations, that team will not be one to be trifled with this year. If they don't go to the MNC, they'll be a tough out in any BCS bowl (which they retain for this year).

I'm saying a WVU team that everyone thought was just a decent team blew up on Clemson in the bowl win, and then suddenly started the season ranked highly. Then, when they proved to be same mediocre team that dropped 2 gimme games (to Syracuse and Louisville) the year before, everyone was shocked.
Now Louisville, which had gotten clobbered by a mediocre Syracuse team and lost to UConn the year before, hammers the favorite in the bowl and they start ranked high with national title expectations. And then people discuss their pathetic schedule as if it's a reason for them to be ranked so highly - as if a pathetic schedule makes your team better somehow. Sure, they're less likely to lose, but they'll be even more wildly overrated. This is not a team that will win the title, and I'd be shocked if they do make it through their schedule (as weak as it is) unscathed.

It was a catch

It seems that voters are a bit higher on L'ville this year than they were on WVU last year.

WVU seemed to shoot up the rankings after beating Texas 48-45 (moved up to #5), which came after beating Baylor 70-63. It appears that the voters were so enamored with WVU putting up the points against all these teams (including Marshall and JMU in the first two weeks)... that they neglected the fact that this same school allowed BAYLOR to reach the end zone 9 times in 60 minutes.

Offense doesn't only sell tickets... it also garners poll votes, apparently.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Well Louisville's super weak schedule has people inflating their ranking because people would rather look correct in the end then actually rank teams they think is the best... It's just a perfect storm of annoying voter habits all rolled into one team...

It was a catch

Awesome.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

If true, I wholeheartedly approve. The A&M game in the hurricane in '03 is one of my favorite football memories.

"Exit light..."

My parents thought the hurricane sounded too dangerous to drive through (though we were an hour away in Lynchburg) so we stayed home and watched it on TV.

Because of that, it is one of my least favorite football memories. I still have the ticket complete with the tear-away stub at the top (back in the day). I get sad every time I look at it...

oh, Lynchburg. I spent a week there one night.

Mary had a little lamb, its fleece electrostatic. Everywhere that Mary went, the lights became erratic.

As someone familiar with VDOT, the Lynchburg district is responsible for ZERO interstate maintenance. Only 1 or 2 miles go through their district and another district takes care of it for them.

Do you work for VDOT? Really wish TKP had a messaging function now haha. But yeah until (and if) 29 becomes an interstate there's no interstate for Lynchburg. We're the least loved district.

EDIT: Just followed you on twitter. Follow me if you'd like and DM me.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

That game was awesome. The bronchitis I had for two weeks after the game was not.....

I remember it raining sideways in Lane.

Bob: What would ya say ya do here?

Brad: I already told you! I iron out the minutiae so Justin doesn't have to. I have people skills dammit! What the hell is wrong with you people?

Yep, I definitely almost got pneumonia after that one. In addition, my usual football game intensity + shouting against a hurricane = no voice for an extra few days. I was in the South that night, right near field level, so the wind and rain were in our faces the entire night. It was epic.

"Exit light..."

One of my roommates and I bought Orange Effect shirts the day of the game and immediately put them on when we got home and started tailgating. Since we hadn't washed them the orange ended up bleeding onto our undershirts and jeans after getting soaked at the game. My dad even saw me on TV when they panned to the crowd at one point during the game.

We beat them in College Station and at Lane, reminds me of the Nebraska games.

Pour some Beer on it

He says that like it's a bad thing. I'm more than happy that we get to play TAMU without dealing with that drama queen of a quarterback.

I like shutting down overrated qbs.. remember what we did to denard? It was awesome.. aside from the loss

You're confused. We beat Michigan. Danny Coale caught the TD pass in OT and we won it. It was all very exciting.

It was a catch

hell, I'm a Michigan student and I know this is how it happened.

Mary had a little lamb, its fleece electrostatic. Everywhere that Mary went, the lights became erratic.

I said it a long time ago on a different thread, we beat Michigan but lost to the Pac-12 refs.

"Exit light..."

I would like this a lot. Many similarities between the schools. But I'd prefer Oklahoma above any others in that part of the country. I'd also like Arkansas, I think.

Fair enough.

It would be pretty cool if we did some sort of military appreciation tribute during those games

That series sucked last time. Why can't we get Oregon or USC or Stanford or UCLA or Clemson? Something with beautiful women and beautiful scenery.

Probably sucked because we got our asses kicked. Might not suck as much this time.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I like this announcement! I can't wait to see the new upgrades to Kyle Field when we play them!

I am absolutely psyched for this. I didn't get heavy into VT football until after we had already played them. Feels like a tiny bit of redemption for me

Has anyone seen any reports online that confirm this? This would be a great series to start up again.

i thought this yesterday while reading this thread. has this been confirmed or are we basing all this on that tweet?

That poor TAMU QB... I imagine this was his thought process while being chased by that incredib(ly terrifying) defensive line.

Nice! I like it. Especially the Corps of Cadets link, from a selfish POV of course. Always all about playing SEC teams!

I can't remember which defensive player it was but after beating them at Kyle Field he took a chunk of grass from the endzone and when they interviewed him he said "you know, the place they never touched". Still love thinking about that.
