"It's like a Krispy Kreme doughnut with the 'hot sign' on," Cam Phillips said regarding Virginia Tech's offense clicking after the Hokies' 54-17 win over East Carolina.
Yes.

Thank you to furrer4heisman for the genius idea.

So that's what the kids mean when they say "It's lit".
The light is on, it's donut time!
"DONUTS!"
Take it to the shadeSweet, melty glaze.
Honestly, if you'd told me one of our guys had made a Krispy Kreme reference, I'd have assumed it was Tim Settle or one of the Edmunds.
Teller?
He said Krispy Kreme not Taco Bell.
Something tells me Wyatt is not afraid of donuts.
...but they are of him.
He's more of a pancake guy anyways. Donuts remind him of Loeffler's offense
I would, but you know how she gets about this kind of thing.
Someone needs to tell Cam about Carol Lee donuts.
Coming in 2016: The Carol Lee Hot Light
Carol Lee definitely has its place in the cosmos, but a hot glazed doughnut from Krispy Kreme is a religious experience.
I'm with Cam on this one.
I like you.
I like a 3pm (cold) Carol Lee donut better than a hot Krispy Kreme. You know what was truly a religious experience? When I started having to drive by Carol Lee at 6am and had a hot blueberry cake donut, or a hot bavarian cream filled for the first time (there's a joke there somewhere)... and the second, and the third, and so on.
Carol Lee? The crap you get in the grocery store. That sucks! I want a hot Crispy Crme with a grilled hot dog on it!
Oh that's Sara Lee. Carol did a dirty rip off!
Ummm...
I take it he's not from 'round these parts...
Must. Resist. Urge. To. Downvote.
Iceing up, Son
This is one of the best gifs ever created.
But how cruel is it to post a donut thread at 7:30 AM???
Glad someone came up with a gif for this. Phillips' comment
and catch are deserving of one.
Cam Phillips can have 2 dozen more donuts, and I'd be okay with that.
I'm ok with Bud Foster getting some more donuts too.
How about some Sugar Shack donut!?
That sounds good to me!
Well then, I guess Jerod should feed Cam more.
This is the second consecutive week we've been discussing donuts. First Bud talking about how he likes them after the BC game, now Cam bringing donuts back into the spotlight. Offensive and defensive donuts for everyone!
Wait, are we talking about doughnuts or donuts? I'm hungry and confused. Does anyone make a snickers flavored donut or doughnut?
You could get pretty close at Duck Donuts. I go for chocolate glaze, peanut butter icing, and chopped peanuts but chocolate glaze, caramel icing, and chopped peanuts would be pretty close to a snickers.
Droppin dimes!
This is the first time I've seen a replay of that catch. Hell of an effort. Looks like he snagged it with his finger tips, must have been sticky from eating Krispy Kremes that morning.
Also, is that the best thrown deep ball by Jerod all season?
The best one that was caught, yeah. A few others have bounced off hands.
Define deep ball. Isiah's double coverage catch was more of a personal favorite of mine.
Also, Bucky dropped a TD on the BC game that would have been just as nasty as this one.
Bucky leads the country in making catches look much harder than they should. I've never seen a guy dive to make more catches than Bucky. He seems to hold on to the ball better when he dives than when he catches it standing. It's kind of amazing actually.
You're spot on. He leaves the ground more than any reciever I've seen. As long as he's securing the ball I guess it's ok. YAC would be nice but connecting on a deep ball is nicer. I think Bucky could benefit from another year in this offense.
There is no doubt about that. Bucky's build would get him drafted late second, early third. Another year in the offense as a receiver will get him drafted as a first round pick.
In the medical community they refer to it as ErnestWilforditis.
And guess what he did not fall down after the catch!
Carroll's inside post pulls the safety up, and the corner covering Phillips has no help. The outside receiver checks up to keep the outside corner from falling off deep. Nice design, and it looked like the ECU cover man blew a tire.
This is the kind of shit that drives me crazy when the CPU pulls it on me in Madden and when I try it becomes the easiest pick the CPU has.
There's a name for that sort of occurrence.

WTF 'drill" is that?
I'm pretty sure they faked a chop block so I'd call it the Paul FU Johnson tackling drill.
It's called attacking the outside leg. But you can't hardly practice it on real people. We used to have freshman for that, but those were the old days.
Phillips is a really good player. He's going to get overlooked in his career because he played with Ford, the best WR in school history, and Hodges, the first WR/TE hybrid. But when you list the ten best WRs in school history, Phillips may be in the 6-10 range.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Cam will be around next year after Ford is gone so that will be his time to shine.
I don't think he'll be anywhere near the top 10, but i'm still glad he's playing for us. If all you do is go off stats to pick the top 10 he may make the list, but we pass the ball a hell of a lot more than we did 10 years ago so those numbers are inflated IMO.
Who is your top 10? Not looking at stats, I would say:
1. Ford, 2. Freeman, 3. Royal, 4. Boykin, 5. Hodges, 6. Coale, 7. Wilford, 8. Still.......then:
Harper, Hyman, Clowney, Davis, Roberts, Corney White....I would put Phillips above any of those. He might be right there with Still and Coale now.
(I can't speak for Ricky Scales or Carroll Dale, both before my time. Dale, from what I saw in old Super Bowl highlights, looked like a TE but not sure what his position technically was at VT or if he should be included in this list.....maybe Hodges shouldn't be included either)
I'd have the first 4 ahead of him for sure at this point. I mean to this point Phillips has 2 500ish yard seasons. Unless he has 2 stellar seasons I would just see him as a solid #2 or even #3 guy on a pass heavy team.
That's a different argument, how good is Phillips on a team or in a program committed to the pass. But considering VT's dearth of quality WR's in our past, he's still likely top 10 all time.
I'm just making the case that if he played in a different era, he would be our clear #1. Like I said, I loved Bryan Still but I'm not sure he was any better than Phillips and Still was a great player for VT.
Ya I just don't see it. Don't think I can think of a team he'd be our clear cut #1. Fuller, Davis etc. even when we were complaining about our WR group were better that season than I've seen out of Phillips thus far. He's a very solid player and has benefited from us having 0 depth at WR IMO, but he's a #2 or #3 guy.
Josh Morgan is definitely in the top 10 and ahead of Phillips right now. I'd say Harper and Clowney are slightly higher as well based on their ability more than total stats.
If your talking about off the field accomplishments, Coale is easily #1. Kid slayed.
