Two of my best friends from VT are getting married and they live and breath VT like most of us. Their wedding invites are VT colored and the colors of the wedding are of course Chicago Maroon and Burnt Orange. To make things easy they have set up a Honey Fund instead of the traditional gift registry, but I was hoping to come up with a creative hokie themed gift in addition to the donation to the honeymoon fund. I've been unable to get my creative juices flowing. So has anyone given or received an awesome Hokie themed wedding gift?
Thanks in advance!

This isn't a suggestion, but will the bride be walking down the aisle to "Enter the Sandman"??
I'm not sure, but that is totally something I've considered doing. I'm almost positive it will be played at the reception. We did get the DJ to play "Enter Sandman" at the Groom's sister's wedding. She went to Penn State. That went over really well.
Oh boo hoo, lions fans.
My daughter and son in law (both Hokies) entered their wedding reception hall to Enter Sandman. Very Cool.
I did the garter toss to Enter Sandman. Impressed the DJ by specifying the exact second that I would be tossing it.
Of course we played Sandman at my reception. But the wife totally surprised me by having the Hokie Bird show up for it! I was pleasantly blindsided and my wife (not a Hokie) earned lifetime points with me and my Hokie friends.
Incidentally, the Hokie Bird is very reasonable for wedding receptions, so there is an idea for you.
What about a custom engraved Hokie Stone from VT Bookstore?

This wins!
Or a hokie stone signed by Coach Fuente, CBF, or the legend CFB!
Raise your hand if you acquired a piece of Hokie stone at some point in your time at tech
The mason that was shaping it accidentally sent a piece flying which struck me in the head. I figured keeping the piece was a fair trade for not filing suit.
Candlesticks always make a nice gift. Maybe you find out where she's registered and get a place setting or a silverware pattern. OK, let's get two.
Great reference. +1
A few years back two good Hokie friends of mine were getting married and I got them a replica lunchpail with a personalized autograph from Bud. You used to be able to buy them on Bud's lunchpaildefense.com site although I don't see it anymore. If you're crafty though, making your own lunchpail (finding a cheap lunchpail like this, beating it a bit with a hammer, spray painting it black, and painting VT on the side) would be a unique, very Hokie gift.
Hokie Stone, tickets to a game, a donation to the university in their name, other memorabilia.
Side note - I have two friends from UF, and I guess Florida allows you to buy a brick in their stadium, and get your name engraved in. A friend bought them a brick for their wedding. They now have a brick at the stadium, and an identical copy in their home. Pretty cool fundraising opportunity for the school, and pretty cool to have your name etched into part of the university. Would love to see VT do something similar one day.
They do. In front of Cassell.
Sorry, I googled funny wedding pictures and this is the best I could come up with:

On a serious note: Have they considered having the wedding at the War Memorial Chapel or the Honey Moon at Mountain Lake (couple nights might make a nice gift) ? If the wedding is in the winter, one of the outlying cabins with a fire place of it's own would be nice.
This is a great idea. Mt. Lake cabins have been upgraded not all that long ago and they are in a beautiful setting, lake or no lake (whole 'nother story), with a decent restaurant. Privacy and the opportunity for great outdoor access on the top of the world (well, the top of Giles Co.) can provide for a memorable treat.
If you give MV5 $20 bucks he'd probably show up
Just keep your eye on the gift table...
My wife got me an autographed Frank Beamer poster for our anniversary.
My Hokie in laws made my wife and I an awesome wedding gift. They had the local middle school shop class engrave some wood with, "For those who have passed, and those to come, Reach for Greatness" and mounted a piece of Hokiestone to it. As my wife and I ran into the reception to enter sandman, we reached up and touched it.
The in laws get it...
