Virginia Tech at North Carolina, will be broadcast nationally on ABC in local markets and mirrored to the rest of the country on ESPN2, at 3:30 p.m.
Heck of an opportunity for the Hokies to post a win against a top-25 team on the road.

I thought Tennessee was too early for the program under a new coach. But we're ready for this game. Time to make a statement.
Enjoy this last week of sound sleeping, Trubisky; you're going to have nightmares for the rest of the year after we're through with you.
After Saturday, he'll have to sleep with one eye open.
gripping his pillow tight.
with chain saws ringing in his ears...
I can't wait until this weeks French and Co. pre game insights. Having this information makes TKP the best Hokies site around. Hopefully in order to keep it around we can keep growing the Key Players Club. Let's get to 300 members by kickoff.
How about 330 by 3:30?
#TKPC330by3:30
Asking here because I don't know where else to put it... What happened to "Foe"rensics? It's one of my weekly favorites. I know this week was a bye, but I don't think I saw it last week. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.
They're only written for new opponents, not the teams we play every year.
Makes sense. Thanks
So, not for conference foes that we play annually....like ECU?
sweet. 6 days to go.
Anyone have suggestions on a hotel to stay at that's somewhat close to the stadium? Driving down Saturday morning and staying after the game.
I'm sure Alum07 can help ya.
Just spend the night at TOPO
What's that?
Top of the Hill is the most frat-tastic bar in Chapel Hill. I think they actually have a distillery now so it might be worth checking out.
Their whiskey is shit, be warned. Picked some up at the ABC store about a month ago... And it's real tough to drink. They keep a piece of wood in the bottle because they kind of have to to give it flavor.
A little bit of a hike from the stadium if you're only walking, but down at the west end of Franklin street right beside Cat's Cradle (one of my favorite music venues) there's a Hampton Inn (I think?). It's got a nice restaurant/bar right underneath it, a parking deck, and there's always Cat's Cradle for evening entertainment.
Plus you can mosey your way down Franklin Street after the game and check out some of the local places.
Thanks!
It's no #3 vs #5, but this is a huge statement game for us and Fuente. Glad we get some national exposure on a Saturday afternoon.
This team has a high ceiling. Do it!
Enough of this "make a statement game" jabber crap. That was the old way. It's time for a new way. Just simply, win. And nothing else.
After the last few years, just winning would be a statement.
Beating Ohio State was proof that statements aren't made by one game alone.
It may not mean anything to you, but as far as national perception and recruiting, it can be a statement game.
We can't be number one if we don't cross the mind of pollsters now. It's the same reason UT started top 10 this year, and why Oklahoma hangs around. Let's prove to everyone that we are better than 25. Statement.
It is also a statement to me in that we've had some pent up 'get back' these last two games and now we go on the conference road trip. We thump UNC, who is on a roll, we make a statement. Overlook or sleep on us, you'll pay. We've licked our wounds since Bristol and we're ready to beat the coastal into submission and take our spot back at the top. Statement.
I agree with you. That said, the whole "make a statement" thing is played out. Just f*king win the damn things and everything else will follow your ass. Just simply, win.
I agree with you as well. Keep it simple, stupid! I just take a slightly different perspective.
Out of curiosity, was this directed at me? Because if so, I feel like there's a less asshat way of getting your point across without resulting to petty insults and disrespect. Just because I agree with your perspective, doesn't mean it's not old and played out.EDIT: the comma threw me off. For reference, if the acronym had just been posted, I would have connected. And I still feel that the whole "make a statement" is played out.
K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Stupid) is a fairly well known acronym among several technical industries
I don't think he was calling you out in anyway...in fact, it looked like he agreed with you and was just using the well known acronym to enforce the point
K.I.S.S. is a very common phrase that means just what it sounds like it means. He is agreeing with you. Just Win The Game = K.I.S.S.
Sounds like you've never heard K.I.S.S. before. If you ever hear this phrase again, no reason to be offended, I can think of 0 (zero) times it has been used negatively at someone.
I generally hear it used as "Keep it Stupidly Simple" in professional settings (or just drop the "stupid") just to avoid people misunderstanding.
Definitely doesn't roll off the tongue...err...keyboard the same way
I don't know if it has been pointed out, yet, but K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid) is a well known phrase, and the guy was agreeing with you.
Not sure its been pointed out, yet
I'm just gonna take a S.W.A.G. here that I think he's probably seen it
No, that was not directed at you. Simply adding my thought on the 'just win' line. Sometimes simpler is better.
I dont like the "make a statement" statement either, but what I think he means is we need to kick their ass. Which I think we will do. The only ass kicking that will be worse is when we go to South Bend. Im betting we hand them their worse home loss in a long time.
It can ALL be summed up as this

You can win a baby!?!
Yeah, it's called a sex trophy.
Just another participation trophy I don't want
There's an irony there in Millennials having fewer kids.
Well you see I've got all these t-ball trophies, where am I gonna fit the baby?
I keep most of mine in the garage
You're referring to t-ball trophies...right??
Good kickoff time. I like the 3:30
While I love Lane at night, 3:30 is probably the best all around time slot for actually attending the game. Sufficient tailgating time and the ability to make it home before midnight for most people in attendance.
Already asked this in the "guess kickoff time" thread before seeing this one, but probably fits here better: is there a map showing which regions will get it on which channel?
It'll probably be up tomorrow, accessible through here: http://www.espn.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/6 or here: http://www.espn.com/college-football/schedule
Here is last year's coverage map when the ECU game was the reverse mirror. The opposite game was Western Michigan at #1 Ohio State. Obviously, this had no bearing on this year, but it might give an idea of a safe area for our game. As in, the ABC stations that aired VT last year will likely be getting it again this year. However, since our game this year is higher profile, and the opposite game is lower profile, we could get a lot more coverage.
I think they're holding out until tomorrow to post the coverage maps.
Nice to see how much ABC coverage this game is getting
You know, I'm scouring every site I know all week, and it gets posted literally the minute I leave my house for work.
That's what you call being Mod'd
Great opportunity for potential recruits from Alaska and Hava'ii.
In case anyone's interested, the reverse map for the BYU/MSU game is also up.
I'm just wondering what folks in Montana are watching on ABC.
Fuck you Montana.
I'm guessing PSU footprint trumps Pitt in PA.
RE: Probably something good that the rest of the nation is missing out on.
Edit: replied to wrong comment.
Actually, I think it's the Big Ten deal. My understanding is that they are the reason ESPN does reverse mirrors. Some clause about all games must have nationwide coverage, and probably includes something about being over the air instead of cable. I could be wrong on the details. But I suspect that if ESPN could, they would just put one game on each channel and not worry about splitting coverage areas.
YES! No signing up for a sling tv trial today!
Guess the line?
UNC (-6.5)? Maybe as high as 9?
The way FSU is in free fall I'm not sure the spread will be that much... I'd say UNC -2.5 seems reasonable... We score and play defense so we should be a tougher test than the nolies
By Sagarin's indicators we're slightly ahead of UNC but they get a 2.6 point bump for being home. I think you're dead on.
I agree. Was talking about that with some buddies last night. I was thinking maybe 3.5.
How about the o/u though?? 40s maybe as high as 55?
I haven't looked at the actual O/U on this game, so its purely prediction on my part...
I'd put the O/U at... hmmmm... 75.5... I'm smelling a scoreline somewhere around 41-35, assuming the weather holds up. If the weather turns to shit, its probably more like 60.5
Opened at UNC -6, quickly down to 3.5
Damn, either 12 or 7:30 would have worked, now I have to miss it. I guess that's why smartphones were invented.
UNC has one of those numbers by their name now...
WE'RE #25!
Source.
Miami 10. I wasn't impressed watching them against GT but with everyone losing guess they can only go up
It will help for when we beat them
They got what, 14 points off gift turnovers? They get FSU this week, should tell us more.
Leaving Blacksburg Friday morning and heading to Charlotte for an on-site interview and then driving from there to spend the night in Chapel Hill that night with the 'rents. Can't wait baby, hope Hokie Nation shows up loud and proud!
.......damn
Reading hurricane models are like offering a college football scholarship to a 9th grader. You're pretty sure he's gonna be good, but...
Whelp....f*k.
As of right now, planning to drive from Wilmington to Chapel Hill for the game, then turn around and drive right back home. Should be a nice evening drive!
That's actually not bad at all for Chapel Hill. We might get a little rain and some wind but nothing close to a torrential downpour. I feel bad for the coast not the middle of the state where Chapel Hill is.
....yeah, apparently I posted an image that updates with every new model. The one I originally had put up showed the middle of the storm going right over the NC Triangle
Ah, I see. Yeah, if it was something coming from the models yesterday I was preparing myself to stand in a waterfall
Section 100 row S, any other TKPers sitting around there?
Section 100 Row P, I think. The entire section should be Hokies though.
So if the game airs on ABC, will it be blacked out on watchESPN? I'm pretty sure this storm will make my antenna reception shotty and would rather just stream the game.
It shouldn't. That's why ESPN3 is listed on both parts of the map.
Plus, WatchESPN doesn't blackout games that are actually broadcast on a Disney owned channel.
In recent years, the only regional blackouts I've seen on WatchESPN are games that are broadcast regionally on another channel (such as ACC Network). They used to black out ABC games, but they stopped doing that years ago. Now CBS is the only one of the 4 major broadcasters that don't stream their sports broadcasts to cable subscribers, unless that has changed recently.
i.e. the games not produced by ESPN.
UPDATE: In Myrtle Beach TV market the main ABC channel WILL NOT be showing the game in lieu of hurricane coverage. The game will be on our ABC alternate weather channel. Make sure you are checking your own broadcast before 3:30. Stay safe guys.
Just glad to hear you're alright so far, man. Charleston is getting pounded and everywhere up past Wilmington is looking at over a foot of rain so it's pretty dicey.
It's been a long night and not because of the hurricane. Feeding newborn and now 16 month old has a fever.
