Forecast is for heavy rain & winds around 17 mph. Does this give an advantage to either team & why? The passing game has to be affected for sure. The field being grass has to have some effect once it gets sloppy I would imagine.

UNC is very pass happy and their QB isn't much of a Dual Threat. I would say advantage hokies.
They have better rbs... If they decide to use them, which is questionable
Their QB was a highly rated dual-threat QB coming out of HS. And he has some wheels. He can run just fine.
Thank you for the calibration.
UNC fans benefit the most. They have a good excuse to not go to the game, and a can use it again if they lose.
The team that runs better today wins. Downfield passing will be difficult in the wind and rain. Crisp route running is going to be tough on a wet surface unless the field drains extremely well, but we know how good Worsham Field is, and in heavy rain there are even issues there.
8 inches of rain in 15 seconds; that part of the field is going to be sloppy.
/s
Lol thats cute, do that across the entire field then talk
That was my thought. Sure, the field drains in a small spot when the rest is dry, but what happens when the entire surface is saturated with water?
Gotta give credit where credit is due... That field held up exceptionally well given the rain we had all day long.
Yeah, UNCs field situation put NC States to shame.
Really did. It almost looked like it was being played in an entirely different state. I couldn't believe it at first. Props to UNC's groundscrew and technology.
CH didn't have as much rain as Raleigh but it was still bad. The lots were seeing some large pools form in low spots about 4 hours prior to kickoff and the wind was whipping there for a while. The drainage we and UNC have need to be mandatory in all stadiums going forward, with the conferences willing to compensate to get it done.
Yeah, watching NSCU-ND players look like they were flopping around in a wading pool was just sad. I spent the whole time worrying that someone was going to seriously injure himself, even on a non-contact play. Running out of bounds in those conditions becomes dangerous.
But then they players cannot hydroplane all over the field.
I mean, I'm all for a game of slideonyourassball because it would be fun to watch, but if we're still playing football and guys need to stay upright, I remain concerned.
Where exactly on an anatomy chart does one find the "assball?"
You know what? Forget I asked.
We need a Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" commercial for the field guys who get the drainage right.
I understand they had less rain in Chapel Hill, but it wasn't the wading pool they had at the NC State game in Raleigh.
The passing game always suffers in conditions like these, but people usually overlook the fact that both sides are usually affected. DBs/LBs have to react in a split second, and with a wet field, that can definitely lead to a lot missed tackles because defensive players are sliding around.
Oh how nice it would be to be on the winning end of missed tackles...
Gotta hold onto the ball. Turnovers will be key in all 3 phases.
The Weather Channel. Who can stop watching a hurricane swirling on the coast?!!
As noted the better running game wins this one.
UNC has talented RBs but they are facing the toughest defense of the year for them. Trubisky can move but I don't think at the level of Evans. He can evade and pick up a first down but I don't think he's a threat to take it 50 yds where Evans can.
If bud takes away the short passes and forces them to go long it's going to be a long day due to wind on the ball and our secondary.
I think this ultimately comes down to the better defense and the better running QB. I think that favors us.
And if your not watching NcST ND then you should. It's going to be a sloppy game.
Evans has taken it 50 to the shade, but the first cut he makes may end up a solo tackle by Matthew.
Vegas obviously think Hokies. Tech -3 as of now.
I think soggy field is an advantage to the receivers over the Db's, or advantage to a running quarterback over the defense
I agree. The receivers know where they are going, the QB knows where they are going, the dbs have to react. The running qb already has an advantage because he can go anywhere at anytime and again, the d will have to react instead of being able to force the action.
I thought so too, but it doesn't look like it in the ND/NC state game. Two pretty good QBs are averaging 4 yards an attempt.
Kiser throws a great long ball and underthrew a guy by 5-8 yards and about 5 yards left due to the wind (I hope). It was so bad it might have been the wrong route. He was just picked off as well on an intermediate throw.
yea this game is ugly...the best part is the replays of the ball being thrown so bad by a really good qb
If the game in Raleigh is any indication, it is not going to matter who knows where they are going. It matters which way the wind is blowing and who can run on water. Sounds like a job for Sam Rogers.
throwing is gonna be a problem all game
Turnovers may swing the game in this one. If NCST ND is any indication, field position is going to be huge as well. Throwing not going well in that game. I think the better run game gets it done.
Yeah, I already anticipate a lot of frustrating turnovers. This game is going to be a disaster.
Neither. Whoever holds on to the ball wins.
Predictions on Hurricane Matthew's final stat line in our game: 66 TFL, 5 INT, 5 fumbles, 4 sacks, and a safety
Damn that's a sloppy mess.
Man it's going to be as wet as...yeah I probably shouldn't finished that sentence.
Hokies do...
BOOM
Keenan was arid compared to Carter Finley, field wise.
