Sounds of Gameday: UNC edition

These guys are just having fun at this point. It's amazing to watch and see how quickly that culture has taken hold in the football program. Also, the highlights had crowd noise that sounded like a damn home game. Makes me proud to have been a part of that.

I imagine Fuente's pre-game speech at the ACC Championship before we take the field against Clemson will go something like this.

Miracle

You mean, Saturdays game versus Syracuse.

the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster

As stated, the team was obviously mentally and emotionally ready for sloppy weather and embraced it instead of shying away from it (likewise, the attending fans!!). Once that first TD was scored, the amount of fun the Hokies were having and the Heels weren't having because of the weather was very evident, even on TV.

Luckily the biggest concern weather-wise this week is if someone bumps the thermostat up to 74* instead of 68*.

Enjoy your forecasting vacation, Eshiban eshiben5. You earned it with the Matthew coverage.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

thanks for the shoutout! but i blundered hard on virginia beach, everyone did. I'm going to get into why and how that happened and discuss our other hurricane out in the atlantic right now (dont worry very little to no threat to the coast).

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

Well, we do have to worry about those suspiciously timed gusts from the ventilation fans. Seems that I've always heard rumors that the "fans cycle to maintain proper inflation of the dome for safety reasons" a little too consistently. Maybe a structural/mechanical engineer student could give us a 'forecast' of projected wind currents

I told him I’d crawl on my hands and knees to be the DL coach at Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, I’m sitting in this chair and I told him I’d still crawl on my hands and knees to work here. I just want to be here.

Damn, I love this team - the players, all of the coaches. Love the locker room leadership that we have this year - it's just a new energy.

Love the Culture of this Team and the Coaches that have made it happen.

Is there going to be giftory??? Looking forward to it.

It's fun watching 'the Love' evolve.
When I watch Fuente now and compare his talk to when he arrived, it's apparent to me that he loves these players and they love him.
And he is starting to 'get' the fan base and they/we are starting to get him.

To me, that Foster/Fuente hug at the end of the game is Foster saying 'I TOLD you, baby, our fans are for real and VT is the place....this is gonna be a fun ride.'

(Yes, I'm stoked....)

Cant wait for him to experience his first thursday night game at Lane!

I can't wait until every single home game at all hours, on any day is exactly as hype as any Thursday night game.

I got a strong feeling the Terrordome is going to be back in full force the rest of the way this year. I can't recall a more fun team to cheer for since 2000. Even the mid 2000s teams had that feeling of "don't screw this up" when the offense was on the field. Now? Nah, once we smell blood we go for the kill.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Yeah I think he's very impressed by the fans and I love hearing his comments about it. As stated above his first Thursday night should be epic in terms of the experience that the fans provide as being one of the loudest stadiums to play in. It needs to get back to the standard of one of the toughest places to play in.

Bud's eyes.... the man is intense.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I'll tell you a sound I won't forget... the hit Stroman had on Switzer to break up the touchdown in the endzone.

It echoed through that empty student section!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

Chills, man. Chills.

I know it's been said multiple times around here, but I love the camraderie this team has. After every big play, EVERY player on the team gets pumped. Celebrating each others TD's, Woody's fumble recovery, Mook's Edmunds (almost) safety.. And you can tell that the respect is real both ways between coaching staff and players.

Wasn't that Alexander Edmunds on the (almost) safety?

Edit: Cuz, I was wrong

You misspelled Edmunds

Though it's pronounced "Kevin"

Yup. You are correct. Don't know why I was thinking Mook.

What a video! Guys seem to be having a good time.
Almost sounded like a home crowd on those TD's.

After Fuente retires in 25 years having won a dozen or so Lipstick Trophies, I think Sam Rogers will do an excellent job succeeding him.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

you mispelled "25 lipstick trophies"

I was hedging.

You misspelled 'misspelled.' Sorry, couldn't resist.

One of my favorite parts of watching these vids (and watching college football in general) is looking for all the little inside jokes between players, position groups etc. That high-five is damn near perfect.

The D-Block chant is a classic ol' chestnut. We used to chant a version of it during our walk-in in HS. Which was long, LONG ago.

the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster

During that fumble recovery Woody's thinking:
Don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it,

He remembered what Fuente said during his pregame speech "No open field today. Everything is covered up!"

The Dude Abides

The hype train is STRONG this season. No more room on the VT Bandwagon for those jonny-come-lately's.

The Dude Abides

No no, there is ALWAYS room on the VT bandwagon, come one come all!

With so many talking about the crowd noise feeling like a home guy, I should add that we got to the game a little late and as we were walking in from the Dogwood Deck Stroman made his 1st INT. The stadium erupted and I commented, "Well shit. That ain't good." But as the crowd died down I hear the MVs finishing up H-O-K-I-E-S, Hokies! We turned to each other in amazement.

lol I left early and heard the stadium erupt. Said "whelp, we did something awesome." It was Moto's INT.

I had to leave the stadium for a bit in the late 1st half to find my keys that I accidentally left at our tailgate - between the volume of the cheers and the MVs, I could pretty much tell exactly what was going on in the game.
