According to Mike Barber, a foot issue will keep So. forward Kerry Blackshear Jr. courtside for the start of Virginia Tech's camp. Blackshear averaged 6.2 points and 4.5 rebound for the Hokies in 2015-16.
#Hokies sophomore forward Kerry Blackshear had surgery on his right foot 5 days after last season ended. He won't be ready for start of camp— Mike Barber (@RTD_MikeBarber) September 30, 2016
Only the 3rd time that I have ever seen this happen-BUT the 1st pic of it. It's @kjblack15 way of trying to prove his shot is improving pic.twitter.com/ceYqD0nbsx— Buzz Williams (@TeamCoachBuzz) September 30, 2016

Get right, Kerry. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
As far as I've heard, he had this surgery to help fix the whole "standing on tiptoe all the time" issue that he's been dealing with. I saw him walking back to the dorms while I was on the way to class last week and he appeared to be walking fine while in the boot -- no limp or anything.
Heal well!
You mean HEEL well.
I hope he comes back strong. We don't have a ton of depth in the front court
Very glad to hear the surgery was five days after the last season ended. Too many times you hear about the surgery getting put off until closer to the new season.
Will be exciting to see how dramatically his athleticism improves. He was plenty good on a foot and a half.
My guess he'll need a lot of PT etc. to re-learn how to sprint and explode off the floor. That's a lot of years of muscle memory to re-train.
hoping for a speedy recovery!!
Glad the kid had surgery at the end of last season. It was really awkward to watch him jog the court on one tiptoe and one flatfoot. You could even see his in-desire to put weight on it in his free throw attempts. I respect this kid's hustle 100%. KB is the baby-faced killer.
Here is hoping he'll be healthy amidst the season., we'll need his paint presence and athletics down low! Plus he was just getting some rhythm going on that outside game towards last season's end.
Just heard at the very end of the press conference with Buzz -- he wasn't officially taking questions and he was away from the mic a little bit but what I heard was "He's going to wear the boot for 8 weeks" before someone cut off the mic.
I'm assuming this is about Blackshear so we'll see
edit: annnnnd that's what he said when the mic got turned off
Wow.
Well, whatever is best for Blackshear is the right thing to do.
How would our rotation look like then? I assume we will have to play much more small ball. Buzz is good with that so not too worried. Foul trouble will be an issue with the 4 and 5 spot. Hopefully Johnny Basketball and Sy can step up down low.
A lot of Chris Clarke. There has been a lot of chatter about Hamilton's improvement, but I'll believe that when I see it.
He's in the third week of wearing his boot so 5 weeks left than they will reevaluate his status. Wouldn't be surprised if this is another Ahmed Hill situation where he finally gets fully healthy later on in the year and at that point there is point in not redshirting him.
So we might miss Big Satch this year after all.
Aw man. That's terrible news. I was hoping he'd develop into a force underneath and eat up tons of minutes. Here's hoping Sy is ready to ball.
NOOOOO!
Can Bucky Hodges play basketball?
Bucky's hair can dunk.
Not sure, but I think Lawson is pretty good.
Pretty sure Ty doesn't have any eligibility after going to the NBA
