Closest I could find, but I love this guy, excluding the school he plays for.
This guy keeps on getting hit and taking dives. It's hilarious to watch. The PSU people get furious every time, even though he has run around hitting people himself.
I mean, he's legit taken a couple of cheap shots, but yeah... "Ermahgerd he's a kicker and you touched him with your pinkie finger! How dare you!"
If you count punters then Nic Schmitt (sp?) would be close to that.

IIRC, Schmitt was a PK before becoming a P. He qualifies.
Nice pull. I just looked it up and he was. He was also 6'2 276lbs his senior year.
I loved Nic. He had one punt that struck the ground at like the 15 and rolled sideways to stop at the 1 or 2, I think. Can't remember who it was against.

They always show what helmet we'll be wearing in their graphics starting on Thursdays. So, in a way, I suppose it is

I know at certain angles, the orange/maroon kinda disappear into the jersey so it looks like our guys are wearing bicycle helmets.
I really don't know why, they just don't appeal to me. I loved the look when Navy originally came out with it, I just don't think it translates over to the O & M.
Maybe that is it, it is not our look, to me it is Navy's look with different colors.
I like it. I also don't mind stealing stuff from other places. If it looks good, why not give it a try? But I respect your opinion.
I used to hate the shoulder stripes on our uniforms but I've softened my position since we've added helmet stripes to our lids. It looks a little more congruent with the helmet stripes IMO

Not sure.... I will say that Clark Ruhland might have a little inside knowledge when it comes to this, because his weekly wallpaper on his site has been accurate with the correct VT helmet in all 6 games so far this year, and he puts them out on Monday or Tuesday every week. Only thing I think he's missed on is that Liberty wore their red helmets and not the white ones he had.
I was actually hoping he would get the nod this week after nailing 2 kicks last weekend to get us on the board and the extra points through the rest of the game. That's no easy task in a hurricane! Aside from leading the country in kickoff yards, he's perfect kicking FGs and XPs from under 40. There's not many kickers with his leg that would even have a shot at 50+ with the coach's confidence behind him.
And I loved reading the comments from UNC fans who were so annoyed with Slye's hype during the game
Some fans were actually calling for their guys to take a personal foul to hit him after the play.

It's funny, I've rewatched the game twice now and he only waved at the UNC fans once, and I think it was just habit. Every other time he came and waved to the corner our fans were in.
The thing is, the announcer called him out on it so I'm guessing that's where people being upset came from.
I mean, yeah, since the only place their fans saw the game was on TV.

Is the #25 given out for in-game performance the previous week or the practice leading up to the game? I was under the impression that it was for the practice leading up to the game, but people's comments during and after the UNC game lead me to believe otherwise.

I guess I'm asking, does a player who plays poorly on Saturday, but then practices like a madman from Sunday through Thursday get the jersey? Or is the jersey for the previous games special teams MVP?
The jersey goes to the "special teams player of the week," so probably everything matters - game performance and practice.

He tried out for 2 teams didn't make rosters. Kickers and punters have the hardest path to a roster spot.

Are those the helmets being worn? They're wearing them during practice but the black helmets were worn towards the end of practice last week.
Yes. They've always worn the helmets shown in the graphics made by the team accounts. Wore the black helmets last week because the game helmets were pre-packed in case the game time was changed to an earlier date.
