Apparently Rogers said he overthrew Peoples on this in practice multiple times. In the clip Rogers is throwing of his back foot which probably actually helped him to complete the pass...otherwise might be another overthrow.

Both were superb, but I would vote for the Rogers to Peoples. The tipped pass interception is a great play that builds and fires up a team that prides itself on defense (DBU), but ultimately a TOUCHDOWN pass by a former walk on player who is a very popular team player and leader to an up and coming star is better.

We've allowed 36 points in our last 4 non-Syracuse games combined. The occasional busted coverage or missed tackle is going to happen. No defense is perfect. I think they showed the ability to make plays when needed and did a great job of shutting down the Canes when it mattered, particularly on the ground.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yep. Kaaya will be playing on Sundays in a year or two, and Miami always has fast receivers who run good routes. The D gave up 5 big pass plays and one big run. As long as this team shows up with this effort, I'm happy.

I get what you're saying. Our defensive secondary positioning was worrisome on those big plays tonight and if Miami had anything more than a terrible OL that gave Kaaya time we could have been in trouble. Then again, if Miami had a better OL our scheme would have been different and we wouldn't be playing the coverages that we were, and even with the long playa or defense locked them down for most of the game, and pretty much eliminated their running game. All in all am acceptable outing.
I'm worried about Pitt because that team has a VT voodoo doll somewhere and after the Syracuse game this is our biggest mental hurdle on the season. We have the talent to win, but....
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Secondary play wasn't great, but Kaaya is also the most talented QB (IMO) that we face this year and having lost the last 2 against Miami, badly, it was still enough to get the job done. Bud has to figure out these coverage busts though they are happening far too often.

Both times it appeared the deep man against the bunch (usually a corner) got pulled inside and let the wheel run wide open. That wasn't our only zone issue, but that one will likely be addressed this week and should be an easy fix.

Geez papilgee, so my memory isn't as good as it used to be... ;-) But, yeah, when I checked the play on ESPN the following morning, I saw that it actually happened in the first half of the game and that Sam Rogers caught the 9 yard pass and ran with it for another 40+ yards.
I know he has a brother and that is why he came to Virginia Tech. His brother and a roommate were burned in a house fire and Coach Beamer heard about it and contacted the two guys. When Sam heard about this, he said he knew he wanted to play for only one football coach and that coach was Frank Beamer. Frank Beamer is one hell of a human being.

I think Miami's game plan was 100% to focus on shutting down Ford. Bucky stepped up big time to make them pay. It's no coincidence that Ford started getting more opportunities after Bucky kept coming up with first downs and TDs.

Rogers was mentioned a few times, but notice how his big plays late in the game were set up by the "failed" sweeps and reverses earlier in the game? The defense would have been all over Rogers on that run...except he passed it for a TD instead.

It's such a sorry excuse for dialogue but it really explains why he never looks there for his kids for 20 friggin years and when he's right there he doesn't go planetside to help look for the plans. I can't blame him too much for the latter. I can only imagine what sand would do to that Lite-Brite on his chest.

Who was it that exploded into the Miami defender at about the 10 yard line?
The down field blacking (including the Evans block/pancake) was been one of the big differences in this team's play compared to previous years.

No cell service inside Lane (what's new) so don't know if we have talked about the fact Evans PANCAKE BLOCKED A MIAMI PLAYER!!! Lane was hype, lit or whatever the kids are saying today. Also undefeated at Lane under Fuente!

I wish this team had followed me to Syracuse last weekend. Great team win. I haven't missed a game in person yet this season. Sadly it will come to an end next Thursday vs Pitt
Edit: I got all excited and wrote our next game as vs GT. Thank you Hokie Fireman & Alum07 for setting me straight. Thanks gentleman & Lets go Hokies!!

I'm sorry Drunk, excited me. Also, glad I get more shit for getting the team wrong than I do appraisal for being at every game so far. Glad that overshadows it here in the TKP community.

I thought Bucky had his best game as a Hokie tonight. He was consistently going after the ball instead of waiting for it, and making the catch. Great effort blocking as well, even with the hold.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Da U wasn't back for long this year. Maybe they will stick around a little longer next year.
My thoughts are that the fan base will convince itself this week that we dominated Miami while in reality they were 2" from getting a foot down to make the game interesting down the stretch.
Another good game plan from O and D coaching staff tonight.
We need to hit some passes over the top in order to maximize the offense potential.
The Miami -v- VT series is an underrated rivalry. Been some good back and forth with these two teams over the years.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
We had at least two over throws that would have resulted in at least 11 more points. So net that out with coley getting pushed OB (great play by Clark, btw so it wasn't just a bad play by coley), and the winning margin grows by 4 puts and we put close to 600 yes of O on Miami.. Plays get missed. It's part of the game.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The vast majority of in conference winning margins of more than 2 scores are an exaggeration of the size of the margin of the difference in quality of teams. Do you think that Syracuse is almost twice as good as VT? I think VT is definitely the better team and it came through in tonight's game. I'd even wager that we'd win 7 or 8 of 10 games played vs Miami, on a neutral field, which is a big difference.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
lol, my bad. I misread the 'tone' of your initial comments. Yeah, I'm not ready to full on hype train this team again, until we beat Pitt in convincing fashion, as a minimum, but prob not until after consecutive W's though the GT game.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
You can't disprove a generalization by a single example. Yes, 38-0 was consistent with the level of superiority. I'll offer the close W's vs LOLUVA as proof that score isn't always measure to difference in team quality.

Evans had a good game too. Started off a little shaky, but got settled down and had a good night. Plus he added a pancake block to his stat line. Love seeing that from our QB.

How about one for Mr Evans! Love this kid and can't believe the pre season competition was close. Not a slam on Motley at all either. Dude is a clutch baller.

Looks like SportsCenter completely forgot there was another game on their channel last night. Led off the 9am show with BYU-BSU, nothing on Hokies. Must be East West coast bias.

It's truly unfortunate we won. With that extra ding to their record, now Miami isn't a good win for us and will really hurt with our national perception going forward.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
No see unfortunately that win is no longer good for them because we fell from the ranks of the ranked. That ding on our record really hurts the perception of Syracuse going forward.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
As much as I loved Michael Brewer, one thing I appreciate about Evans is that he runs through the tackle but almost always avoids taking a big hit. LT3 would lower his shoulder and punish the defense, which was always fun to watch. Michael had some great runs, but they always seemed to end with him looking like a crash test dummy. Of the three approaches, I like Evans's best. Get as many yards as you can, but live to play next week.

It should be out there. ESPN rightfully made a big deal about it but I wish they'd filmed from higher up. A lot of shots from down on the field. Still great though. I liked when they cut back to the studio and one ESPN announcer just gushed over the excitement.

MY GOD! Words can not express the fun I had at my 1st Thursday night game in Blacksburg. I met Coach Beamer on Beamer Way between Cassel and Lane while I was walking to the Stadium! Only like 6 or 7 people approached him everyone else seemed scared or bashful. I walked right up and shook his hand and said "great to meet you Coach, mind if I get a picture with you" and he smiled and agreed. I was star struck and my hands were shaking and he was as friendly as people always say he is.
I have a question for my fellow TKPers. I was sitting at the very top row of the West stands and it was my 1st time sitting that high up, now my question is does Lane sound louder up there or was this just Thursday Night Terror Dome in full effect?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I actually think it gets louder as you get lower/closer to the field. When you're on the field, the entire stadium is yelling in your direction, whereas from the top row of the West stands you have about 10,000 people in front of you yelling in the opposite direction. But maybe you were hearing the echo bouncing off the press boxes.
I obviously have no idea what I'm talking about. All I know is it was loud as hell on my surround sound.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
As stated, it does get louder the lower you are. Definitely not the loudest game I have been to, but on that 4th & 20 (or whatever it was) in the 4th when Miami was trying to score a TD late, it did get old school loud in there!
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
It's definitely louder as you go closer to the field I remember forming the tunnel after the pregame shows and the only way I knew when to start playing Tech Triumph is because I can just barely hear the snare drummer right beside me begin the song, I couldn't see the DM where I stood.

I do not know about Dominate since we gave up over 300 yards but we definitely won. Now time to prep to play in that damn ketchup
edit: I am still extremely hungover and sleep deprived and cannot read apparently. Go Hokies...

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but can we point out how Ludwig is quietly having a fantastic season after a rough first 2 games. Last night was probably his best punting game of the year. Props to Shibest for coaching up this Special Teams unit (outside of the blocked kick of course)
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Definitely had a fantastic game last night. As for fantastic season it couldn't be further from the truth. Going into last night's game Ludwig was ranked 90th in punting.
Yes, but he has been doing an above average job at getting his punts downed inside the 20 when the opportunity presents itself. He was good at that last night, except for one that he boomed into the endzone.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Look at his stats game by game though. He had a few duds against Tennessee and Liberty, but after that they have been pretty good.
BC average isn't great but that's because we were constantly pinning them inside the 20 or kicking into their endzone.
UNC is low, but he kicked during a hurricane and overcame a few bad snaps to avoid big losses.
Syracuse was pretty good and last night was fantastic.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I would like to take credit for his turnaround...Stay with me here. At the BC game, his first kick was a dud. I screamed "Come on, we have 85 scholarships and 26,000 students, we can't find someone to kick the ball forward for 20 friggin yards" (it is also important to note, I had 249 beers before the game). A very nice lady turned around and said "take it easy on him, he's trying his best". I smiled, and shut up. Couple minutes later she turned and said "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you...but we're his parents (pointing to herself and husband)." I made some stupid joke, shook their hand and apologized. I also promised, if he nails the next one I will cheer louder than anyone in this stadium. We all chuckled. Next kick, he crushed it...and I screamed like 3rd and 100 on D. They smiled and gave me high fives...joking I must have been the fix. Throughout the game, he kept nailing punts (mostly short/well positioned kicks). Each time they would turn and smile at me, laughing I was the reason. I don't think he has miss-kicked once since.

Ha! We were at that game as well and my wife was yelling the same thing, and suggesting we bring out the soccer goalie.
She's not a Hokie by degree, but has become a true follower (right down to the VT pajamas). Last night was our first Thursday night game and really sealed it. Lane was rocking and she may have outscreamed me, as well as giving people crap for sitting down on a third down play!! She can't stop talking about the awesome atmosphere.

I always thought Chicago Maroon looked purpley against certain colors, like green.
Against burnt orange, it looks more like what I'd call traditional maroon.
Colors pulled from the Tech branding site.
By the way, the dress is blue.

The Canes' struggles all looked reasonable for a team fighting to rebuild under a first-year coach. The offensive line was overmatched. The lack of depth was exposed. The fight was there, but the production simply wasn't. And so the Hurricanes (4-3, 1-3 ACC) will almost certainly go another season without a division title, waiting for that moment when, on some distant date, they will be "back."
The funny thing is, Virginia Tech (5-2, 3-1) should be in the same boat, but the Hokies don't look the part of a renovation project. They, too, were without defensive stars Ken Ekanem and Nigel Williams, and it didn't matter. Fuente and defensive coordinator Bud Foster know some of this might be illusion, that only three players on the roster were recruited by this administration. Last week's shocking defeat at Syracuse only underscored that the job isn't done. But Thursday's game against Miami was a fair measurement of two teams forging similar paths, and there was little doubt the Hokies had navigated well ahead of their rivals.
No, sorry... Miami is still not bak yet.
Edit: boy, I had really fubar'd the URL earlier... sorry about that

I'm really looking forward to comparing this season with other teams in transition at the end of the season. "Oh, you are excusing your missed bowl game because you had a first year coach, eh? Yeah that can be rough. Sorry, gotta go book my plane flight for the bowl game. You know, the one we're going to under our first year HC."
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think this just proves that Miami's string of victories to start the season shouldn't have warranted a top 10 ranking and they were really never that good. Not top 10 good.

LOLUVA and Duke are the only possible W's that I see in that list. ND is not having a great season, but the eye test would indicate that they are better than the U. Pitt and NCSU are definitely better.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Agreed. It's the fact that they have FSU, UNC, @ VT, @ND leading into Pitt. Miami is already banged up. ND may be struggling, but they are a physical team. Not to mention the fact that Pitt will have 2 extra days to prep. I think all of that combines to make a win vs Pitt very difficult.

So many great moments and to top it off, at night. Hope one season
we have multiple night games in the future.
Feel like Kaaya basically kept them in the game. I came out of the tunnel entrance
to section 2 and saw him thread a pass for about 30 yards. He has skills.
But aside from a few busted coverages, it seems like they wouldn't even have scored
as much as they did. It's wonderful when the offense gets clicking and the team
runs these well designed plays. It's fun to watch. Go Hokies!

Miami had some bad personal fouls. The shove on McMillan out of bounds was like five minutes after the play was over., but the worst play that I saw was when Miami was punting out of the end zone and the Miami guy shoved Adonis Alexander into the punter trying to provoke a roughing flag. What the Hell, dude? Your punter could've been seriously hurt there.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I saw that block on the punt as football plus physics. They were right not to throw the flag but a lesser official might have. I don't think the Miami player did it on purpose. I think he got beat and that was the best he could do.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, I saw it as a panic move. Adonis blew up the first blocker and the shield was all that was left. The shield player had a poor angle and had to push him as an emergency move, otherwise he was cleanly beaten and that was going to be a TD, which would have been a death knell at that point. I think it was the football equivalent of a baseball "emergency hack."

Can I just take a second and say how great Worsham Field looks with the logos in Maroon? Seriously, I'd love if they just kept it like that going forward. Looked so much better than normal.

Since TM34 is The Dragon, can Sam be Godzilla? ...just kinda fits. Honorable mention: The Tasmanian Devil (or Taz).
Does anyone else think that FuCorn drew this one up after it working for Cuse last week?

You know as soon as he let go of the ball, Rogers went all
Gallo tried to ruin that play with an ole' block on the NG....
Talk about playing with emotion.
Condolences to Trevon and his family.
Glad he had his brothers on the team and the VT family for support.
I echo your sentiments.
I am sure the whole Hokie family join together in offering our condolences to the Hill family.

Sorry, as great as both plays were, I gotta go with our QUARTERBACK laying the wood on a lead block.
Think he wanted to win tonight?

Credit to HokieHigh over on TSL for this:
that wasn't just a pancake, he DROVE him into the ground .... absolutely Fournette-esque

We have to remember that we had a short game prep for this too - makes sense that there might be some breakdowns and should be an easy fix.
Agreed on that. Without him I don't believe they'd have stayed in the game
as much as they did. Really accurate passer.
hmmm, i tasted it. this post needs to bake another 120 hours or so.
On a more brighter note, while I adsolutely loved the two plays mentioned above, my favorite was the fake Jet Sweep and pass to Sam Rogers who rumbled for 10+ yards and setup Hodges for the TD. We really need to clone Sam Rogers. Go Hokies!
10+ yards? Not entirely wrong, but sells the play really short. That was good for 52.
Does Sam Rogers have younger siblings/hidden clones?
Geez papilgee, so my memory isn't as good as it used to be... ;-) But, yeah, when I checked the play on ESPN the following morning, I saw that it actually happened in the first half of the game and that Sam Rogers caught the 9 yard pass and ran with it for another 40+ yards.

Those Edmunds boys...they'll get after ya.
Those back to back gang tackle stops they made were the icing on a big night for both.
Literally FAM!
We let the Dragon fly and it paid off.
I see what you did there
Dragon don't need wings to fly.
Could you explain this? For a friend of mine. Haha he's so stupid but I don't want to be mean and leave him out of the joke.
an auto-correct beauty, someone was trying to type "Travon" and it corrected it to "Dragon." Thus, Dragon is Travon McMillian.
Bucky really played well. I don't know if he was a focus of the game plan or he just happened to be getting looks in the flow of the game.
I think Miami's game plan was 100% to focus on shutting down Ford. Bucky stepped up big time to make them pay. It's no coincidence that Ford started getting more opportunities after Bucky kept coming up with first downs and TDs.
I loved the play in the 4th near Miami's goal line. It was a run play but Settle just pushed the guard into the backfield and clogged it up.
These are the unheralded plays that make it exponentially more likely to get a stop on third down.
Remember when we wouldn't beat Miami because they had too many "dudes"? About that....
HokiesFB twitter account had a reply to Kevin Carter for that one.
And props to Carter for being a good sport and retweeting it.
Yeah, it's all in good fun. Carter generally knows his stuff and seems like a likable guy too. Jason Sehorn on the other the hand is a different story.

Ach, sorry. Haven't had my coffee yet this morning
Rogers was mentioned a few times, but notice how his big plays late in the game were set up by the "failed" sweeps and reverses earlier in the game? The defense would have been all over Rogers on that run...except he passed it for a TD instead.
Awesome on so many levels. I think that may be first fullback to fullback pass in football history.

Can I get a pic of Sad Cane Vader?
My comment to my wife: "So that's where Kylo Ren got his sadness."
Can you blame him? He hates sand because it's all grainy and coarse and gets everywhere, and yet lives in South Beach...
It's such a sorry excuse for dialogue but it really explains why he never looks there for his kids for 20 friggin years and when he's right there he doesn't go planetside to help look for the plans. I can't blame him too much for the latter. I can only imagine what sand would do to that Lite-Brite on his chest.
I require a picture and/or gif of the suuuuuuuper sad cane fan in the ibis hat very near to the end of the game... I about died laughing when I saw them!
Ask and ye shall receive.
Watching ESPN replay, found it, captured it.
We did and thanks!
This win guarantees us a winning record at home this year. HOW ABOUT THAT LET'S SHOOT FOR 6-0
Can someone please post a GIF of this? I have yet to find it.
Look further up in thread.
Umm they play Pitt next week, GT is Nov 12th
I'm sorry Drunk, excited me. Also, glad I get more shit for getting the team wrong than I do appraisal for being at every game so far. Glad that overshadows it here in the TKP community.
I just wanna make sure you get to every game your supposed to be at.
Thank you. I apologize.
Will I can see why the streak is ending, we play Pitt next week
I thought Bucky had his best game as a Hokie tonight. He was consistently going after the ball instead of waiting for it, and making the catch. Great effort blocking as well, even with the hold.
Yards after the catch? 2. But you get 2 just falling over when you're his height.
EDIT: /s, mostly. Though at one point they did a montage of his catches and every one was falling over.
Um, pretty sure he got YAC on his second TD. If you comment was sarcastica - I missed it.
To be fair he looked like he was ready to fall on that catch, and when no one came up to tackle him, he stumbled into the endzone.
I have really begun to like "effect" games this year. Looking for a "Road" effect next week!
Shhhhhh. It was a good defensive play. Coley is supposed to be an amazing athlete. Should've gotten his feet down. His loss.
If you're going to play that game...
No games. We were clearly the better team, but I think the final score might be an exaggeration of how much the margin is.
Definitely a good play by Clark. Proof that effort wins games.
I'd waver that we'd win 7-8 out of 10 against Syracuse, too. They just had our number and a great game plan.
Precisely the point that I was trying to make.
I think we are making each other's points. Im saying the headlines are exaggerating the dominance of either game.
lol, my bad. I misread the 'tone' of your initial comments. Yeah, I'm not ready to full on hype train this team again, until we beat Pitt in convincing fashion, as a minimum, but prob not until after consecutive W's though the GT game.
- bv1800
- LT3
You can't disprove a generalization by a single example. Yes, 38-0 was consistent with the level of superiority. I'll offer the close W's vs LOLUVA as proof that score isn't always measure to difference in team quality.
Game balls all around! (And on Miamis face)
Woody Barron
Tremaine Edmunds
Sam Rodgers
Travon McMillan
Trevon Hill
Bucky Hodges
I'm sure I missed some one, so call me out below!
Woody Baron's stat line was a successful season for some DT's, lets give him two game balls.
No, let's not and keep him hungry.
You'd make a good CEO.
Tell that to my boss!
This is why people hate executives. That and the MLB-grade ridiculous salaries.
It's all good man. Trust in your executives! They know how to spend money!
Evans had a good game too. Started off a little shaky, but got settled down and had a good night. Plus he added a pancake block to his stat line. Love seeing that from our QB.
Pancake block aside, can't give the QB the game ball every week. But maybe Wyatt can buy him some maple syrup.
I wanna replace the "Evans" nameplate on his jersey with "Bisquick".
I like it, but it might be a bit premature!
M Ludwig. Field position.
his best game of the year. whatever change he made in his drop, he needs to keep it
How about one for Mr Evans! Love this kid and can't believe the pre season competition was close. Not a slam on Motley at all either. Dude is a clutch baller.
Shout out to Motuapuaka for great coverage on deep routes in the middle of the field. He provided blanket coverage 30-40 yards down field.
Did we throw a fullback to fullback TD...yes we did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love football this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That has to be a top-10 play on Sportscenter.
It was not. I was definitely expecting that this morning. Two boring Boise State - BYU plays made it though.
Looks like SportsCenter completely forgot there was another game on their channel last night. Led off the 9am show with BYU-BSU, nothing on Hokies. Must be
EastWest coast bias.Boise is ranked....
Nationally, our game lost all relevance when both VT and Miami lost last week.
Maybe they figured no one stayed up until 1 in the morning to watch two G5 teams.
you can do that!
Fullbacks are the new tight ends.
Under O'Cainspring, Sam Rogers is our left tackle...I'm not sure if I'm kidding.
It's truly unfortunate we won. With that extra ding to their record, now Miami isn't a good win for us and will really hurt with our national perception going forward.
Just think about the national perception of Syracuse!
No see unfortunately that win is no longer good for them because we fell from the ranks of the ranked. That ding on our record really hurts the perception of Syracuse going forward.
Heh, right. Damn shame we keep beating our own quality wins. It's a blessing and a curse. - h. Dinich
Hokies win + #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING = All is right with the world
Bring on Pitt...and Boise can still suck it
I love the fact that for the first time in his sixteen year career Mark richt has lost three games in a row.
Georgia lost 4 in a row in 2010 (finished 6-7). We considered that "the lost year" while I was in Athens.
That Evans kid is a decent football player
As much as I loved Michael Brewer, one thing I appreciate about Evans is that he runs through the tackle but almost always avoids taking a big hit. LT3 would lower his shoulder and punish the defense, which was always fun to watch. Michael had some great runs, but they always seemed to end with him looking like a crash test dummy. Of the three approaches, I like Evans's best. Get as many yards as you can, but live to play next week.
To give credit where credit is due, both punters were awesome tonight.
Does anyone have video of the entrance for this year's Thursday night win?
It should be out there. ESPN rightfully made a big deal about it but I wish they'd filmed from higher up. A lot of shots from down on the field. Still great though. I liked when they cut back to the studio and one ESPN announcer just gushed over the excitement.
Came here looking for the same thing
A quick lazy Google search yielded nothing
I actually think it gets louder as you get lower/closer to the field. When you're on the field, the entire stadium is yelling in your direction, whereas from the top row of the West stands you have about 10,000 people in front of you yelling in the opposite direction. But maybe you were hearing the echo bouncing off the press boxes.
I obviously have no idea what I'm talking about. All I know is it was loud as hell on my surround sound.
Last night was the loudest I have heard Lane this season.
But god I wish the students would be as loud as they were during the damn wave during an injury timeout during actual game play.
Was in North and can confirm. Also half the people didn't even notice the game had started again and were still cheering. Sad day.
As stated, it does get louder the lower you are. Definitely not the loudest game I have been to, but on that 4th & 20 (or whatever it was) in the 4th when Miami was trying to score a TD late, it did get old school loud in there!
When you met Coach Beamer, did you actually say "great to meat you", or did you really say "great to meet you"?
That's kind of important...
Lmao Damn auto correct, I literally just saw this. In my defense it was 5 am after the 3 and a half plus hour drive back to Richmond.
Not exactly. Yards:
VT 523 (gained)
U 365
leg for the hangover. Misery loves company!
If Pitt doesn't score, the ketchup bottles don't tip!!!
Can we make untouched QB touchdowns a permanent thing in this series?
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but can we point out how Ludwig is quietly having a fantastic season after a rough first 2 games. Last night was probably his best punting game of the year. Props to Shibest for coaching up this Special Teams unit (outside of the blocked kick of course)
Definitely had a fantastic game last night. As for fantastic season it couldn't be further from the truth. Going into last night's game Ludwig was ranked 90th in punting.

Slye also probably had his best game as a hokie.
Yes, but he has been doing an above average job at getting his punts downed inside the 20 when the opportunity presents itself. He was good at that last night, except for one that he boomed into the endzone.
Props for staying there after that. I'm a coward and probably would have been quickly finding new friends to sit with in another section
I was literally trying to hide under my seat...they found it funny.
I guess when your kid's a punter, you gotta have a sense of humor for that kind of stuff and take it all with a grain of salt
Nit you are fucking lucky to be alive! Can you still see. You came between Mom and her little boy!
I... I... I think I love your wife.
Motu was phenomenal in 1 on 1 coverage. Crazy he's only a junior and we get another year of him to progress.
Motu played us ass off last night. So awesome to see him develop. It felt bad hear so much negativity and frustration aimed at him last year. So glad we have a new Motu discussion this year for everyone
I noticed this, too. I would always cringe when he dropped back to cover but he did well last night.
hurricanes are 0-2 against the Hokies this season.
Coley from last year...Clark got yo back son.
Future proctologist. Naw WTF am I kidding? Pre-med at Miami?
was it me, or were our boys WAAAY too purple last night? NOT the maroon I was hoping for... or was/is my new Vizio on the fritz and I need to buy a
ridiculously biggernew one???The new Maroon is definitely not as dark as older renditions.
I always thought Chicago Maroon looked purpley against certain colors, like green.

Against burnt orange, it looks more like what I'd call traditional maroon.
Colors pulled from the Tech branding site.
By the way, the dress is blue.
As said earlier, Motu is a BEAST! His play has been exceptional! Him and Edmunds at LB are legit right now!
ESPN ACC Blog: Virginia Tech delivers knockout blow to Miami to seize command of Coastal
No, sorry... Miami is still not bak yet.
Edit: boy, I had really fubar'd the URL earlier... sorry about that
http://ismiamibakyet.com/
I'm really looking forward to comparing this season with other teams in transition at the end of the season. "Oh, you are excusing your missed bowl game because you had a first year coach, eh? Yeah that can be rough. Sorry, gotta go book my plane flight for the bowl game. You know, the one we're going to under our first year HC."
Crying Jordan = auto-leg
I think this just proves that Miami's string of victories to start the season shouldn't have warranted a top 10 ranking and they were really never that good. Not top 10 good.
Too bad we beat them and hurt our strength of schedule.
And looking at their schedule, I'm not sure how many more wins I see:
@ND
vPitt
@UVA
@NCSU
vDuke
UVA always plays them tough. They might need that game for a bowl.
LOLUVA and Duke are the only possible W's that I see in that list. ND is not having a great season, but the eye test would indicate that they are better than the U. Pitt and NCSU are definitely better.
I gotta feeling Pitt and Miami are pretty similar overall
I saw that block on the punt as football plus physics. They were right not to throw the flag but a lesser official might have. I don't think the Miami player did it on purpose. I think he got beat and that was the best he could do.
I don't know... Looks to me like he had time to back off, but instead changed his trajectory and pushed him into the punter.
But slow motion sometimes actually distorts, rather than enhances. I hope you're right. I'd hate to think he's coached to do that.
The Edmunds brothers have a good chemistry on the field together. Makes me wonder if Trey should have been an LB.
Speaking of all maroon....
Can I just take a second and say how great Worsham Field looks with the logos in Maroon? Seriously, I'd love if they just kept it like that going forward. Looked so much better than normal.
This should summarize the game:
