I guess it wasn't all that serious?

The Heisman winner getting suspended at all is not good.
Prepare for the worst on this kid. Just a matter of time.
It's bad sure, but as one of my friend's pointed out, OSU vacates wins for tattoos, and Manziel gets a smack on the wrist. Either he is too profitable for the NCAA or they know it wasn't that bad.
EDIT: and out of curiosity, my screen shot tweet only shows up half the time...is this the case for everyone? if so, how can I make it better...
It looks like you're trying to embed some sort of .png.html as an image, which I doubt will work. The simplest way to embed a tweet is to click "More" in the lower right-hand corner of the tweet, click "Embed Tweet" and paste the code they provide you, like so:
plus one to you, I appreciate it. I was using photobucket and copying their direct link.
Must have been the same investigative crew that was looking into Miami...
That's trbl.
I concur Mr. Barkley
Hey, at least he's suspended from part of a game unlike Bama's practice suspensions.
Probably couldn't prove anything and this is some kind of compromise.
So...why is he suspended? Because the NCAA had to waste time on this?
Didn't think about that. You're either guilty or not, but definitely not half-guilty.
pun intended?
This entire situation is so shady. I am floored. hopefully it takes Bama's attention off of us.
Green (UGa) got 10 game suspension for $1000 jersey autograph. I think Jackass Football should have gotten the brass boot the ass.
Only a matter of time until he implodes. He thinks he got away with something and now thinks he's bulletproof. Can't wait to hear his next "I'm just a 20 year old college kid" excuse for doing something he knew was wrong.
Agreed, I can see players who are on a good track and will be ok, I have seen players who it could go either way, and I have seen players that you just look at and think...it's just a matter of time before you implode. I always hope they don't, but you can see it in his demeanor.
An agreement has been reached between the NCAA and Texas A&M that a source told ESPN's McMurphy closes the book on Manziel's recent issues. The NCAA has acknowledged Manziel did not receive money for signing autographs, the source said.
So why is he suspended??
the NCAA has outdone itself once again.
Because the NCAA says (rightly so) that it should have been obvious to him that, given the number of items he was signing and the people for whom he was signing them (known brokers), that most or all of them would be destined for sale. There is a rule against that, as well, even if the athlete himself does not profit directly.
thanks for clarifying!
Man, I bet Dez Bryant is superpissed.
If you're a player or coach right now...why would you NOT cheat? It seems like there is no longer a penalty for stepping out of bounds. It really turns my stomach.
I'm so proud of the way Frank has run our program.
I think the best part of this for us is that every single member of the media will be asking Alabama players about that. Probably won't distract them a lot because Saban is great at keeping his players focused, but it's still something that could help us.
Personally, I love the fact that Rovell broke this story and it only amounts to a half game suspension. If Rovell's sources are so good, why did this investigation take as long as it did? He's a moron and I love the fact that his broken story amounts to just about nothing now.
But seriously, screw the NCAA.
This is just a disaster. NCAA fail. Dez said he was going to be watching this closely.
I have an opinion on why this is the way it is. But it would be really really unpopular if I said it out loud. I don't even think I can go there.
Were all thinking the same thing. Gonna cost the NCAA some coin when it hits the courts.
I'm not sure we are. But I don't think I want to make it any more clear than this.
I'd love for you to, but I understand.
Btw- USCw is still living through the NCAA sanctions they got with no admission of guilt and proof.
Lack of consistency by the NCAA? I'm shocked. Almost as if there should be a standard adhered too, but instead it's just people in a room deciding who's in and who's out.
Wait, that's just the basketball tournament selection committee.
That's ridiculous, two quarters of a suspension against Rice is the same thing as sitting out a scrimmage. I've got money on Sumlin starting Manziel in the 3rd quarter even with a big lead.
I'm surprised he was suspended at all. Same situation as Cam Newton. Financially the NCAA knew that it would be too damaging to them, aTm, ESPN, and the rest of the media to sit him for a long period of time. No way he was going to sit a long time unless they had a literal pic/video of him accepting the cash
Yeah, I agree. The NCAA is foolish to think Jonney signed hundreds of autographs out of pure kindness so that someone else could make money. I call bull shyt on that one.
Everyone including the NCAA knows he did it. Issue is paper trail and hard proof. And to take a player like him off the field. With the $$$$ he makes everyone involved that's what they need. Same as Cam no paper trail directly to him no photo proof then they aren't gonna go through with it
