Phil Steele's Game Prediction

Phil expects big things out of the Hokies this year, he even has us #12 in his preseason poll, ahead of Texas A&M. But he also predicts Bama to 3-peat.

Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA. Rematch of the 09 opener also in Atlanta when #5 Bama knocked off #7 VT 34-24. Bama has won 11 straight ssn openers incl vs BCS foes #8 Michigan (41-14, LY) and #9 Clemson (34-10, 08). Bama is nearly a 3 td favorite here and will have the crowd edge. They may hold a little back with a huge game vs Texas A&M next (2 wks) as that was their only loss LY. Two of the best Ds in the country will be on the field and while Bama clearly has the advantage on offense look for the VT DL to give the Bama OL some fits early keeping this game close until the 2H.

Agree with his assessment. I think we'll be within 10 going into the half.

We're going to win, but I readily admit that the second half will wear us down. With their style of play and our lack of depth, they'll threaten to win near the end until another 4th and Logan's Run.

logan run

Always wondered when we'd see a Logan's Run reference since he took the helm (took so long to see it I forgot about it myself).

Turkey leg!

It’s later than you think.

I didn't look for very long, but this was the nudest reference I could find.

I will be shocked if we don't win at least 8 games this season

Need some help from bama or get some effort breaks with hard play..try to get an early lead while converting short fields into TD's notepad if field goals. If the Hokies can add a little game pressure while bama is looking ahead to revenge..I'd say we have a great chance.
