title type of program so pretty much their entire sports existence is based on going to the San Francisco Nut Bowl and beating UVa in the only sport we aren't good at.

Its funny how they like to say they maintain this aura of superiority of never stooping to the level of those beneath them, but as soon as someone brings up VT around them, they start acting like a bunch of spoiled children.
we pissed in their Cheerios a decade ago when we came into the ACC and wrecked shit in football from the onset, and had the audacity to have a basketball team that was legitimately competitive. Their superiority complex was annihilated from that moment forward, and now they're realizing the edge they have in basketball they built up with Tony Bennett the last 5 years or so is quickly evaporating with a very real chance of them having completely wasted it with the chokejobs they've had in the NCAA the last few. They can crow about all the other sports they want, but at the end of the day, nobody gives a shit about those regionally or nationally. They only care about football and basketball, and in football, we're a legitimate power team that is again on the rise, and they're a complete joke. In basketball, they've squandered top talent for 3 years now unable to take the step to pass Duke and UNC when the door has been wide open to do so, and now we're legitimately starting to enter the conversation with one of the few bright up and coming programs in the country.

I can name several sports that are not football or basketball that we have completely caught up to them or totally surpassed them at. Softball, swimming and diving (beat em a few years ago) WRESTLING, track and field in some aspects (pole vaulters and shot putters im lookin at you!), women's soccer, likewise our men's team FINALLY OFF SANCTIONS is pretty competitive this year. To say we're a laughing stock at other sports is hilariously naive and just uneducated. So you're good at baseball, congrats. I'd say our baseball team is a lot more successful in comparison to the joke that is their football team over the last decade or so. Likewise our basketball team is on the rise. I just dunno where their superiority complex comes from

I would say that those are similar in achievement...but if you want to stretch a little, they have 9 sweet sixteen appearances from 1981-2016, 35 years. We have our MAJOR bowl appearances (where you have to do something in the regular season, not just get hot in a tournament, to get invited in the first place) over 21 years. Oh well, we're just a "land grant/ag school that's not very hard to get into which were founded typically to educate the rest of the state"

The last time we lost to them, I was in 8th grade and one of my teachers was a LOLUVa non-grad fan and she actually made fun of me in front of the class (not a sob story, just context). That cemented such a deep hate inside me that I really don't know how to approach them in a pragmatic way. I was That Guy on the Hill when we beat that ass 42-13, and while I realize I helped further their bullshit stigma towards us, I would never take it back.
Anything short of complete misery is too good for that 'fan'base.

First time on TheSabre, huh? That site used to be fun and somewhat jovial back in the day, but they started getting downright mean and antagonistic after we started throttling them annually. I actually think the true animosity for them began after the 2007 season, when they got downright frothing at the mouth angry at their administration for allowing Bruce Smith on the field prior to the game... Yes, they were that angry that UVa was showing support for VT in the first time a major VT sports program showed up on their campus after the shooting....
they've since devolved into a sad pathetic pack of cave goblins.
Also worth noting that their BoardHost also took the time to send this to Paul Lukas, who runs the UniWatch blog both privately and for ESPN....
