After going months without earning a new commitment, the Hokies managed to add a 2018er Wednesday.
Safety Chamarri Conner of Jacksonville's Trinity Christian Academy committed to Virginia Tech Wednesday afternoon, according a tweet from Gerard Ross, founder of the college recruitment service Pro Impact Sports. Conner has yet to tweet the news himself, but he did retweet Ross' tweet.

Conner is rated a 3-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, and hails from the same high school as star Hokies WR Isaiah Ford. He joins QB DeJuan Ellis and ATH Bryce Thompson as the team's third 2018 commitment.

I like his heavy shoulder and his hands. I hope his tackling gets more towards the "wrap up and drive" side of the spectrum because the "slam into the ballcarrier" strategy isn't quite as effective in college.

A very big deal to get another kid from Trinity, especially right before other potential impact guys from Trinity visit.
I'm not sure how serious those Trinity visitors this weekend are about VT. Especially Matthews. But, I also don't know why two highly regarded kids from Trinity would choose to come to Blacksburg in November to see Georgia Tech play.
I don't know who runs Fuente's twitter but the disparity between his guarded public persona and this emoji-laden enthusiasm is hilarious to me. Can you imagine that man thinking to himself, "this tweet needs a lightning bolt. No, TWO lightning bolts!"
I imagine it more like my dad tweeting; him yelling to his kids, "NOW I PUT IN LIGHTNING BOLTS!!! HOW DO I DELETE THEM??!?! WELL NOW IT SAYS 'SENT'!!!"

Pros:
Heavy shoulder, good ball instincts, seems to not get caught in the trash / back field motion stuff. Plays the ball well.
Cons:
Hard to judge in this video but doesn't look extremely fast, but then again probably don't need it in a safety. Tackles too high and wants Madden hits, but who doesn't in HS I guess.
