Per someone's random request from the Adonis Alexander #25 thread, I decided to open up this OT about our fave CookOut shakes (in honor of CFB and his pedicures). For me, I am a Cheerwine float-a-holic. Have at it!

Oreo-banana nut. 7 years running, I have yet to be convinced a superior shake combo exists.
Confession: I have been to CookOut several times and have never ordered a shake...
Edit: I should note I live 2 miles from a Dairy Queen and Blizzards>Shakes ;-)
I'm just not a milkshake kinda gal I guess...no real reason
It could bring all the boys to your yard.
I mean at least a float, right??
Chocolate with Oreos!
Watermelon July/Aug, Oreo mint around the holidays, Choc. Cherry, Banana Fudge or Caramel Fudge otherwise.
Chocolate Chip Mint and Watermelon in the summer. Es muy bueno.
I don't like shakes.
Wash me in your downvotes.
Why? Life has punished you enough.
Because life is suffering.
OH SNAP. LITTLE RASCALS.
Automatic leg granted.
I have only eaten at the one here in Roanoke, and I was unimpressed with the burger... never went back.
Is the one in Blacksburg good?
Let's put it this way. Of the many reasons to go to Cookout...burgers are not one of them. Good reasons:
The tex-mex hotdog is divine
Thanks, will go in for a shake. Do they have any pie shakes?
They have a couple different cobbler shakes, but I can't recall ever having one
As a student, my ass is trying to get to Cookout as many times as I can
Chicken ranch wraps for 99 cents and amazing shakes.
To answer the shake question its all about chocolate chip mint
Bacon wraps....bacon bacon bacon mmmmmmmmmm
I was trying to find the dog moving through the house part of this.
You're doing it wrong.
Spicy grilled chicken sandwich tray.
You've obviously never been to CookOut for the right reasons. Consumption of CookOut is optimal between 12-3AM.
Do me a favor and go there during that timeframe. It's worth the long line.
I could not agree more. This time of consumption usually results in a perfectly timed, rather smooth morning evacuation of the many toxins that were consumed leading up to the Cookout purchase.
Oreo-Mint. Get it every time
Fruit punch Hi-C and peanut butter (separately.. not together.)
I'm normally all about the oreo mint, but I like to mix it up with chocolate Reese's or a chocolate malt. As you can tell, I like me some chocolate.
Malt is for commies, like Paul Johnson
I disagree, malt is a key ingredient in beer!
Peanut Butter... I'm boring.
Coffee Ice Cream with Oreos. You're welcome.
Peanut butter banana, but I prefer a Pal's shake.
Also, if you're ever in or around Chicago and like milkshakes, you must get the chocolate cake shake from Portillo's.
Second the Portillo's shakes...and dogs. Haven't been up that way in a couple years, but I have fond memories of lots of Chicago food.
A Portillo's char dog is the quintessential Chicago style dog. Also, they make the best Italia beef. (Al's is a close second.)
What about the Weiner's Circle??
Great when you're blackout drunk at 3 am, but only for the entertainment. The food is average.
Oh yes a pal's shake is where its at. Especially a peanut butter one. Can only get the peanut butter at the first 2 locations that opened. The original in downtown kingsport and also the one in lynn garden
And the one in Lynn Garden has the giant angry dude holding the burger.
This was my first exposure to Pal's as a kid. My grandmother lived right behind Pal's. Good memories.
Banana pineapple, and ores with vanilla. Always love watermelon in summer though. You guys suggests are pretty great though...maybe i need to expand.
Walnut
When no one is behind me in line I'll ask the cashier to pick for me or pick their favorite. Worst case scenario I get something boring, which is fine because I still get milkshake. Best case scenario I get an amazing milkshake that I'm unsure of what is in it. Best milkshake from cookout that it's only one flavor, vanilla based strawberry cheesecake, occasionally changes to Oreo or mint chocolate chip or even a combination of the two.
Banana Pudding. But Zaxbys also has a killer birthday cake milkshake.
Peanut butter and Reese's
Peanut butter and Oreo's
Agreed. Peanut Butter Fudge Sahke with Reese's peanut butter cups chopped up and mixed in.
I've never been to CookOut, because they didn't exist in Virginia Beach until after I left for the military...
Strawberry banana
chocolate, peanut Butter, banana
Can't go wrong with peanut butter banana. Classic.
I also don't get their premixed peanut butter banana, i get each flavor mixed
Same, and I want those big lumps of peanut butter in there.
I like to just have everything chocolate in one shake ( except for banana ). But it was a truly divine moment when I found out that they will make you a milkshake with cheerwine in it.
Blueberry+Watermelon. There is none better, and I usually don't crave shakes outside of midsummer.
Also, while we're doing it:
Grilled Chicken Sandwich Tray, Club Style -mayo, chicken quesadilla, seasoned fries. Boom.
I didn't know they had anything grilled!
There is only 1 combo. Strawberry Cheesecake. Heaven. That is all.
One time when I was feeling especially fat (and more than a little broke and depressed) I got a strawberry cheesecake shake and a blueberry cheesecake shake. Went home and mixed them together. It was a good life decision.
I'm with you on those Cheerwine floats
Chocolate Heath Bar
My Essential Cookout Tray: BBQ with slaw/hotsauce, Chicken Quesadilla, Bacon Wrap Cheerwine float or Oreo Mint Shake
I love that a corndog is a side dish.
I will swap the bacon wrap for a corndog when I'm feeling frisky
In the winter, the Eggnog shakes are pure bliss.
Any other season, Banana Berry is tha bomb, tastes like Fourth of July
I searched this entire thread, looking for mention of egg nog.
Turns out CTRL+F should have been used sooner.
Egg Nog is where it's at. Also tasty at steak and shake.
Here they only serve eggnog in Dec.
Then the government takes it away again.
Yeah I think that might be everywhere. A real shame.
Paul Johnson likes when peanut butter gets stuck in the straw towards the end of the milkshake.
Wait..wrong forum?
Banana Pineapple. Game over
i get it with extra pineapple amazing
I'm sure other flavors are good, but if I were to get something other than chocolate, I'd be thinking the whole time about how it could have been a chocolate one.
Frank is that you?
Peach Cobbler
During college I started slowly becoming lactose intolerant, and now about 7 years later even having a single slice of pizza is enough to trigger a bad evening, but back in my milkshake-eating days peanut butter was my go-to flavor.
I don't know how I never even considered mixing flavors, though. That changes everything (or would, if I could eat one without my stomach going on strike for a week).
I feel ya, man. I used to love cookout then I was diagnosed with celiac. The words "Cookout" and "Gluten-Free" cannot be used in the same sentence...Except that last sentence I guess.
Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge is also an amazing option, but likely to piss off the employees. I try to keep my combos to 3 words or less
For me: BBQ Tray (w/ slaw and hot sauce) with corndog and chicken nuggets as the sides. I keep trying different things with the shakes, though blueberry cheesecake is a pretty good one. If I'm eating in, I'll get the cheerwine float because I can keep going up and refilling with more cheerwine as the level goes down.
For my wife: She always gets the weirdest mix. Oreo Mint + Peanut Butter Fudge. Her reasoning is that chocolate goes good with both peanut butter and mint separately, so might as well put them all together. I tried it once...not terrible, but not my style.
Oreo shake with strawberrys added and mixed.
I rolled in there drunk once. Ordered a shake with my tray. They asked what kind. "Idk just fuck me up fam."
The receipt had like 10 different flavors listed. Whatever that was, that's my fav.
I live in Texas now and unfortunately Whataburger is not even close to a decent substitute for Cookout.
Fruit Punch Hi-C......Every Time
Also can we get CookOut in Pennsylvania pleez?
I find it weird that I still love this stuff as a fully grown man. I don't think I'll ever stop loving that sweet diabetes juice.
My go-to flavors, in order:
1) Strawberry Cheesecake
2) Oreo
I make the best milkshake ever. No need to mess around at the Cookout. The key for the chocolate milkshake is to use Pet vanilla and chocolate syrup. Never, ever use chocolate ice cream for a chocolate shake. It's overkill.
Nope, Leonardo is correct. Vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup is far superior to chocolate ice cream for making milkshakes.
no such thing as overkill in matters of chocolate
Place in my hometown in Upstate NY used to make a "Brown Cow" - Chocolate Milk, Chocolate Ice Cream, Chocolate syrup.
I just got diabetes reading this.
Beard, we must be twin sprouts of different follicles. Chocolate is the alpha and omega of sweets.
I like to go half Oreo mint and half peanut butter.
Haven't seen anyone mention Pumpkin Pie shakes. They are selling those in Durham this month.
This thread reminds me of the last one I read about the "scatium".
Poop.
Watermelon.
My Emily Litella moment...cookout snake flavors?
Both cobbler options are outstanding but I'll go peach if I have to pick one.
Cajun Chicken wrap is CHRONIC
