Y'all keep Nick Acree in your prayers. He's ok, but he didn't lift today. Decided to take an off day. Hope all is well Nick. pic.twitter.com/mp42rBDqL7β Thomas Guerry (@thomasguerry) November 16, 2016
I can't imagine how hard that's been on him.

I'm guessing this is sarcasm from Guerry?
I think we can all Acree that this was sarcasm.
Take your turkey leg and GTFO
I hope NA is ok. I love his enthusiasm and devotion to the program.
...of all the people to skip lifting, it would be him. Look at how scrawny he is.
So THAT is where the team is getting it from!
Should we call a doctor?
This is awful for Nick. I took an off day once, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone other than Pat Narduzzi. The silver lining (if there is one) is that there will be at least one day that every plate in the gym isn't being used. Hope the team can take advantage.
He should take a cue from his beard. Beards never take days off
Sometimes you need a day off for the muscles to grow...looks like it worked
gains god.
That humanoid elephant was supposed to be an unblockable d lineman for us. Shame he had so many injuries, but glad he is on our S&C staff.
DYEL?
Forget the Derrick Henry effect....it's now called the Nick Acree effect.
Good gosh, that's a large human.
His inability to block anyone or hit anyone in college remains one of life's great mysteries... he is the ultimate "looks like tarzan, played like Jane" poster child. If he couldn't get burn on THOSE VT OL's, football wasn't his sport.
He was a DT during his redshirt year, was moved to offensive tackle as a RS-FR and didn't dress (how many o-line play as redshirt freshman), figured to factor into the two-deep as a RS-SO, but tore his ACL and his career was over.
I attribute his career on the field being non-existent in large part due to injury, but agree it was a terrible waste of size and strength.
That is a fair assessment- I'm just saying that he never really busted a grape at VT at all- in any capacity. Not every school shares the "Kurt Newsome" philosophy that OL can only play and be effective as a RS Junior.. LOL- many other schools seem to be able to get kids ready to play on the OL much sooner- including the GT kids that blew our defense up last Saturday. You would think that a specimen like Acree could get on the field somehow and contribute before his 4th year in the program.
Plenty of historical OL problems for sure, but Acree's issues were injury related, and it's very likely his size had something to do with it. Sometimes when guys are THAT big it's more of a curse than a blessing when it comes to certain movements and your joints. It's my understanding that he had constant injury issues while he was here.
Problem with your assessment is he was never healthy enough to play. Built up a ton of hype as a junior in HS before tearing his acl and sitting out his senior year when he needed that development and then stayed injured while at VT.
Must have been leg day. That's weak, Nick.
Also, I'll need to hide behind Sam Rogers for that
is anybody passing around a card to sign?
(cultivating mass)
Pretty sure I saw one by the payment reader in my checkout line at Food Lion this morning, but my knees hurt too much to sign.
Can y'all imagine him and Sam Rogers running a belt drill against each other?
I'd imagine it'd look something like this:

My first thought was that he was injured from the barbell snapping because so much weight was on it. He does deadlift 825 pounds.
For you materials engineers - yea that sort of bending stress wasn't placed on a steel bar, but it's a fun thought. I'd do the calc on how much weight has to be on the bar, but I'm a little busy at work.
still finds time to post on tkp...
Hey, I said a little busy. Not a lot.
Using the Rouge Fitness "the Ohio Bar- Stainless Steel" with a tensile Strength of 195K psi, the bar would begin to yield at 609.121 lbs on each side or a total weight of 1218.0 lbs total on the bar, that's if its held exactly in the middle. given that the weightlifter is going to be holding the bar at two points that are closer to the ends of the bar and that the weights are going to be closer to the middle, the actual max weight for the bar is closer to 1,400 lbs total on the bar before failing to bending.
Thank you! So yea he only needs to about double his personal records before the bar bends out of shape. Then it's a matter of increasing the stress on the bar so it reaches ultimate stress and then finally fractures.
He could deadlift me and my wife while we're both simultaneously doing our max deadlifts.
Hopefully he does not skip leg day
Not many folks can make an OLineman's head look tiny, but he has done it.
I rather enjoy how it appears Greg Stroman is lining Acree up for the big hit. Munchkin against a Wall.
Toddler vs. Dad.
Today's snapchat had Nick trying to knock the ball out of guys hands. He is a large boxing glove for the stick.
