I'm sure y'all have seen this on Twitter, but our head coach seems to be a big Dave Matthews Band fan. Other notes, Garth Brooks is exactly what I expected for Dabo and Kevin Sumlin likes Drake. No wonder they've been accused of being soft. And kudos to Mark Richt for plugging his son. I actually respect that.

That DMB concert at Lane was perfectly described in Futurama:
Most things are perfectly described by Futurama.
Their show was probably the most bored I have ever been at a concert.
I went to a Toby Keith concert circa 2003; the music was meh, but the people-watching was AMAZING. There is something about a girl in Daisy Dukes, tied shirt, and cowboy boots, though.
Naw, Jethro Tull in 71 followed closely by the Doobie Bros.
I have been a huge DMB fan for most of my life. I got the whole side-eye treatment in college when I said so, you know the whole "yeah, you're just another kid with an acoustic guitar who likes DMB..." but really his style is incredibly cool from a musician's perspective.
One thing that will last in my mind forever is his rendition of "Two Step" at the Concert for VT. Now, that song has a personal meaning for me, as it was a favorite of a good friend of mine who passed away a few weeks before I started high school, but this brings it to an even greater level. Dave usually ad-libs an intro to the song, and if you listen to enough of his live stuff you can see how he re-uses and slightly tweaks phrases. But what he did for VT was really unique, something I had never heard. He wrote something for us, and to me that means a lot.
Dave's father died of cancer when Dave was just 10. Here, he's marrying his own sense of loss with a vision of hope, and he sang it for us at a time when we needed some hope. Obviously that resonated with the VT community (and still does), and it's something that moves me. Always has, always will.
Does it really surprise any one that bronco mendenhall chose Jack Johnson?
His eyes are as big as his bubbly toes.
Who the hell is Jack Johnson?
Hire both of these guys.
I know I'm old* and out of touch, but it pains me that this sort of thing is interesting enough to people the it merits ink.
*(I'm so old I saw DMB play at Cabo Fish Taco before it was CFT, and obviously, before DMB was big.)
There's no ink on a computer monitor.
Did I mention I was old?
now its digital or in the 70s magnetic ink.
DMB, you say? The UVA guy? It seems Coach Fuente may be a student of Sun Tzu.
Dino Babers listed James Brown? Jim McElwain listed EWF? OK, respect points granted.
The most interesting thing to me was Doug Martin (NMSU) going with Alison Krauss. I believe that was the only female artist on the list. And I don't remember who it was, but I'm a big fan of the Buddy Guy pick.
On Dave's Europe 2009 live album, you can hear a girl scream "Let's go Hokies!" at the end of "You Might Die Trying". Pretty cool to hear, especially because it's not like the concert was in Virginia Beach or Bristow; it was recorded in Italy.
I've noticed that too! had to pause it and rewind it a few times to make sure that's what was actually being yelled and that i wasn't just hearing things.
Yep - on the track on Spotify, at the 8:10 mark is where it comes in.
Ahhhh, There is nothing like Hokie Nation....
If someone answered GWAR, that's the guy I want coaching our offensive line.
Disappointed but not surprised that there wasn't a single metal or punk band.
Really, DMB? The most feminine-man band of all time. Hopefully he was confused about the question and that is what his wife likes. "Hack up your skirt and show your world to me," is a creepy ass song lyric.
If you ever wondered why ESPN is losing money..
It's the end of the season, with rivalries & playoff implications on the line and this off season fluff piece is produced. Who gives a fuck? Why even waste the bandwidth!
p.s. down vote all you want, everyone knows DMB is for females(or gender neutral/tran/or whatever the fuck your calling yourself these days)
Edit: It's not worth the argument.
there is no argument, facts are facts... DMB songs cater to females
You're not getting downvoted because you don't like DMB friendo.
I know that was an edit for the down votes I was receiving... I expected as much
Why would you hack up a perfectly good skirt?
Joe be all like....
and we're like....
Thanks Joe!
Take a step back and reevaluate how passionate you are about this, hopefully you'll realize it bothers you way more than it should.
Haha I wish my life was simple enough to where this would be my biggest and most passionate issue.
I know. Man, I used to really, REALLY hate giraffes. Just something about how they are like brontosaurus up top, which is cool because it's kinda dinosaur and dinosaurs are rad, but horse on the bottom. Not even good horse - but a silly spotted horse. And their necks are all weird and seem fragile and awkward and they have these knot things on their heads. Are those horns? No? But they also look a little bit like emus in the face, which freak me out. It's like, giraffes.. WHAT THE FUCK even are you? But then I read that dude's ignorant comment and now I'm like wow, I should really let long-horses be. How many times do I even come in contact with one? Usually never. It makes no sense to waste so much of my energy despising something that doesn't affect me at all.
Any of you see where I set down my bourbon?
Surprised Urban Meyer isn't taking anything for Sister Hazel unless I'm missing something. Much worse than DMB.
Sister Hazel is just for dudes who like Counting Crows but get creeped out by the lead singer's hair.
Petrino went Stevie Nicks and Gary Patterson said Fleetwood Mac, major respect. Rumours is an incredible album
I gotta clear this up. It's hike up your skirt... (which would be quite the normal thought for a young man).......not hack.
If we had to guess for the rest of the VT coaches, what would Vance Vice's favorite artist would be?
Molly Hatchet
Pat Narduzzi - AC/DC....seems appropriate that the doosh woould like such a dooshy band.
Tracy Claeys - Minnesota, Doc Holliday - Marshall, David Shaw - Stanford
