I like how the S&C staff is behind the boss the whole time.
Is it becoming more common to have the S&C staff on the sideline for crowd control, keeping players and coaches behind the lines? Seems like I've seen that a few times this year from different teams. Hilgart has a distinctive look so it's easy to see him prowling the sidelines, but I can't say I recall Gentry being out there in the past.
Narduzzi was constantly being sheparded back to the sideline by someone who looked like a S&C staffer, and I've seen SEC games where 2-3 built guys are herding the players back off the field.
S&C coach is called the "get back coach" in both NFL and NCAA, IIRC.
Generally yes, because they don't have any other responsibilities on gameday so they can do crowd control. Plus no one's going to fight the S&C coach.

On a side note we were watching the game and after Cam fried Jalen Elliott my son said that Jalen had trained under him this past summer. He said Jalen is one hell of athlete. I told him to stop aiding the enemy.

In rewatching the game, the ND OL looked like Pitt CB's trying to defend Cam and Ford. When they weren't wrestling DL to the ground, there was obvious jersey pulling on a regular basis. Only diff was Kelly wasn't losing his mind telling the refs that the VT DL was "pushing off"

Holy shit. I, like most people, have focused entirely on Fuente during his evisceration of the ref. But Ben Hilgart looks like he is about to straight up murder that official.
My wife couldn't get over that Hilgart didn't wear a hat or jacket or even long sleeve shirt at the game.
