Virginia Tech mens soccer just upset the #5 team in the country and the #7 overall seed in the tournament 2-1 in overtime.
They'll play in the quarterfinals with a chance to move on to the College Cup for the first time since 2007.
This team made it into the tournament as a at-large bid and really shouldn't have stood a chance against the Hoosiers. Great win!
FINAL: #Hokies advance to the Elite Eight to face Wake Forest/SIUE from an OT goal scored by White!! pic.twitter.com/lUEbpCojF8— VT Men's Soccer (@VT_MSoccer) November 27, 2016
Looks like we'll be playing Wake Forest on Saturday at 5! Deacs won the ACC this year and is the #2 overall seed in the tournament.

FAM!!! I watched this one, and got really nervous when they tied the game.
Fantastic!!! Congratulations, team, and keep it going. We're pulling for you.
Might this be the golden age of Hokie sports coming up?
Yes I love it....go hokies all the way. Coach briz is the freaking man. He's been working real hard. A few years ago I emailed the sports department to get info on coming out to watch a soccer game before the Saturday football game and coach briz himself answered my email. He's great in the community and a super nice guy. Congrats
ACC is doing a great job in the tourney.
Tech, Providence, and Denver are the first three to make Elite 8.
Syracuse trails UNC right now.
Clemson (favorite) plays Albany.
UVA plays Stanford (favorite).
ND plays Louisville.
As mentioned above Wake Forest (favorite) plays SIUE.
So minimum of 3 ACC teams and possibly 6 moving on.
Games are all finished with 5 ACC teams advancing.
(9) UNC vs Providence
(3) Clemson vs (6) Denver
(5) Stanford vs (4) Louisville
Tech vs (2) Wake Forest
Tech didn't play WF this year. Out of the other remaining teams, they lost to Clemson 2-1 and UNC 2-0.
Wow, so great to see so many sports doing well.
The women's basketball team is beating #17 Tennessee right now just FYI
Nice!
Not responding well to penalty.
They did it.
I played at tech last time we hosted a tournament game. Oliver Weiss was the head coach, and Bris was an assistant. Awesome guy, so nice to see him having success. When I was deployed in 2011, the man sent me a current Tech jersey to show off.
That's awesome. I don't know what it is, but this weekend has really made me aware of how much of a family we really are. This is Home really is the perfect slogan for our athletic department.
Scheduled to replay on BTN tonight at 0200.
how bout them hokies! so happy this soccer team is having success
Cool stat. IU hadn't lost a home game all season.
I am not a fan of the sport of soccer at all but it would be nice to finally get a National Championship for this for our first one.
And loluva just lost in golden-goal to Stanford, what a great weekend.
So much for them being better at sports that aren't football, but I guess this sort is football too.
This indeed is the whipped cream on the soccer pie for me. Or the icing on the cake for all of you cake people.
Love the headline from the Richmond Times-Dispatch:
Va. Tech wins in NCAA tournament; U.Va. falls
Of course, I first read it as U.Va. fails......
I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!!!!
JUST LIKE Football! .....
This is great. For any Winston-Salem Hokies like myself, the game against Wake Forest starts at 5 pm. Should be able to go watch the Hokies against Wake and then make it back in time to Watch the Hokies beat Clemson.
