That source automatically disqualifies it from being legit.
I regret using the word legit and should of gone with "joke of an argument"
Plus their ranking of UVA as anything other than dead last solidified it as a joke.
The Sabre is filled with human beings who are legitimately fucking stupid. They would argue ISIS is a more appealing organization than VT based on their knuckle dragging backwards thinking rhetoric that is allowed to fester over there unchecked by their douchenozzle of a BoardHost.
Oh, of course hooville1 is leading the charge... That guy is Example 1a of how pathetic that place has been allowed to get. A guy like him for VT would be long since run off TKP for the outlandish and outright vitriol he routinely spews. Adds very little to any conversation other than openly spewing hate.
Oh my, that's is some top quality insulting. A pleasure to read.
Pictured: Alum07.
Now that was a good read. Douchenozzle... Awesome
made the mistake of looking at some other topics over there. Took about 2 seconds to stumble across this:

Yes, you got utterly embarrassed because your players are so much smarter than ours. That makes perfect sense.
Even the Monday after beating them 52-10, crap like this makes me wish there were someway to shove it ein their faces even more.
This one is better:

i love how he thinks getting tired doesn't happen.
well, to be fair, on Saturday, their offense seemed like it was hardly on the field and even then it's not like they were wearing themselves out.
Considering the majority of the players on the Tech roster also got a scholarship offer from UVa or better schools (e.g. Duke) , I'd say 90-95% of the players would qualify academically at UVa...if you gave the option to both rosters to attend either Virginia or Virginia Tech, I'd fathom that 80% of the players would choose to come to VT. Mcarver is a clown and should be treated as such.
The argument about student athletes qualifying academically is void for anything but Ivy League schools, where they don't give exceptions to athletes.
UVA's Twitter trolling game consisted of "our average SAT scores are much higher than VT's" and that we're a bunch of rednecks who only know how to operate tractors.
If I'm hiring and it comes down to someone who got the same degree but from different colleges and most other skills are equal, you bet your life I'm taking the one who knows how to operate a tractor.
What's funny is that half the posters on there didn't even go to UVA.
what would be your guess for that number on here?
That didn't go to UVA? Probably more than the total attendance at their Springtime Lollipop Extravaganza.
Here's the difference... We don't make a habit out of routinely ripping apart our rival's academics with comments dripping with a sense of self importance over superior academic backgrounds. That shit it rampant over there, and its propped up by their BoardHost who has led that charge often over the years. When you come to find out the people ripping you apart for going to a "po-dunk cow college in hickville USA" never took a class at the so-called "superior" institution of UVa and made their career at whatever local Community College they attended it reeks of the highest levels of supreme hypocrisy and deserves to be openly mocked. If we got that way, we'd deserve the mocking as well.
In fact, through experience I have found that, 9 times out of 10 those who immediately fall on the "our academics are so much tougher at UVa than VT" bullshit, its coming from someone who never attended class at UVa. Their actual students and alumni know first hand that UVa operates just like every other school out there when it comes to helping out athletes to have a successful academic career at a school they likely otherwise couldn't have obtained admission into without their athletic skill.
Basically how I feel about them when they say that......

(Bat included in how I feel)
What's funny is the founder of el sabre didn't go to loluva!!!!!
Is Kendall from Wahoos247 moonlighting as hooville1 on The Sabre?

hooville1 was holding down the crazy train over there long before 247 even existed. That guy has been batshit nuts for a very long time. Of course, much like their BoardHost who also spews outlandish unprovoked and outright false slander and hate towards us often, I believe he's been on record as saying he never attended UVa, either.
This is correct... He is in fact better known as "Pizza Boy"
The best thing is right smack dab in the middle of all that nonsense is LocalHokie saying you guys are high!
If all I did was read the Sabre I'd assume 90% of their fans were morons. Thankfully I met some very nice and respectful UVA fans at the game this weekend. They politely applauded Frank on the jumbotron and one even stuck around till the end of the game.
So he was the one at the Spring festival...
Was it a Home Alone type of situation? His party left and screwed up the headcount while he was asleep?
To add to that, I had three LOLuva students sitting in front of me in the East Stands. They were a lot of fun and we had a good time poking fun at each other. Granted, we were in the student section but they were more than respectable.
when I was a student I sat in the UVA student section with "friends" who went to UVA for the two games we played in Charlottesville in my 4 years at Tech.
Both times my "friends" abandoned me because they couldn't be associated with a Hokie and both times I got hated on pretty hard by their students. They were not welcoming. I DID have a huge (obnoxiously huge, in fact) set of keys that I shook vigorously on 3rd down plays but otherwise I was not being an annoying homer or misrepresenting VT in any way. They were very snobby nonetheless.
That being said, I realize that every fan-base has bad apples....it was just astonishing to me that on two separate occasions I had basically the same (negative) experience
I was in their student section for the '05 game. Painted up and everything. This was the last time we hung 52 on them. It was a rough time. My friend I was sitting in disowned me about as soon as I stripped off my blazer to show maroon paint on my chest right after kickoff. Her boyfriend was crying by the end of the 3rd when Frank had pity on them, put in the 2nd string, and forced the QB to hand off to the RB on every play.
I sat with them during the chick fil a bowl back in 2011 when they played Auburn. Same year we beat them 38-0. I was wearing my Hokies hoodie, I only encountered friendly banter
Stuff along the lines of
"What are you doing here?? You lost Hokie? Shouldn't you be in New Orleans??!!"
All in all it was fun, me and a few friends were in the Uva section because that's where she got free tickets to. A few Hoo's even told me about some of their game day traditions (like singing and swaying.. whatever they sing when they score) It was a really nice time.
I shouldn't hate Uva fans like I do, ...but...I frequent LeSabre...and I do hate them. Lol.
Good thread to highlight this, could bode well for our OOC season if ODU keeps their play up. They won't be a cakewalk next season.
Yes, ODU is trending up, but don't let their record fool you.
They haven't beaten a team with a winning record this season. The best wins on their schedule are 6-6 teams: UTSA and Southern Miss.
Just another example of the failure that the ACC is. Top bowl games for ACC include such wonderful locations like El Paso, Detroit, Shreveport and Birmingham. While ODU fans and players got to Bahamas.
Ehhhh have you seen a Bahamas bowl? It's like watching a college game with a little league crowd and stadium.
Cricket field one year and a rugby field another year. About 1500 seats for fans at its best.
Indeed.
The destination is cool, but I'd rather not play a bowl game at a stadium with a track around the field.
To me destination is more important. What a reward for fans and players is Detroit? Shreveport? Birmingham or El Paso?
E. None of the above. Send me to the bahamas please
Bingo. Who cares that there is a track around the field when you are in the Bahamas.
I do miss the track around wallace wade tho
Must be really rewarding playing for all those fans:
Is it a nice destination? Hell yeah. Do the players care that much? No. They're getting some sweet bowl gifts anywhere they go.
dude they get gorgeous weather and the fans get to have an amazing time in non-freezing temperature. I guarantee you if this bowl was on a higher tier you would get more fans.
It's also on Christmas Eve most years. Not really great timing.
It's a tough trip to make, especially on short notice. You need a passport (which if you don't already have, is expensive and can take weeks or months to get), airfare is expensive, then staying in the Bahamas is not cheap, especially during the winter when a lot of people take a vacation to a warm climate and hotel prices are at their peak (from mid-December to late spring). Bowl tickets for games in the continental US that are within road trip distance are cost-prohibitive enough for most students and young alumni; trying to afford a trip to the Caribbean is another beast.
FINE... if they fix those things it would be an awesome bowl
I looked last year. It was cheaper to fly from VA to Bahamas last year than fly to Shreveport of nearby airports. You also could stay in FL and take a boat over for game. I get the passport if your flying but there has to be better options for bowls than the 4 piss poor locations of Detroit, Shreveport, El Paso and Birmingham.
That's great but Charlotte and even Orlando are way easier to get to (especially for students). Also, it's a logistical nightmare. It's just not worth it in my opinion to go down and play a game in front of 5k people.
see comment above
I didn't mention those cities. I mentioned our bottom tier bowls.
Well shit if we play well we don't have to worry about it, like this year. All those cities (except maybe El Paso) are way easier to get to than Nassau.
Also, bowls have been in Shreveport, Detroit, El Paso, etc for years. If they were losing money in those cities the bowl would've been moved. They make them enough money to warrant keeping it in those cities.
Bowls make money off TV deals and tax breaks.
Ok this is useless. I'd rather our fans be able to go to a game than to see our team play in front of 5k people lol.
I would rather the ACC find better bowl locations. Doesn't have to be Bahamas but at least that conference is thinking outside the box.
I think it's more of a tradition thing honestly. The Sun Bowl will never move from El Paso. Neither will Independence.
Yeah, but why is the ACC part of the Sun Bowl?
And why is it the only bowl game CBS has?
Who knows. And CBS, i'm not sure either. They've had it since 1968. Money talks for the mouse I guess.
This 2016 VT team would beat JMU by 31 points at least... next
Unless it's the GT, Syracuse team that shows up, JMU would be lucky to hang that close.
To be fair, JMU is probably the most talented team in the FCS. Top that with the fact that they have a great staff and their offensive scheme is designed really well.
If VT fumbled and bumbled around like they did against Tenn., Syracuse & GT, it would be a game.
...and Bryan Stinespring is their RB coach
Oh?
Well, all bets off.
Bryan Stinespring is their TE coach & Run-Game Coordinator, and he was really good at those things while at VT.
http://jmusports.com/roster.aspx?path=football#coaches_anchor
How the fuck do you even read their shitty site?
I like seeing all the excuses on why they lost
No, I literally mean how do you do it? Every time I try to make sense of it I start cursing and throwing things. It just looks like a bunch of links with no continuity or context.
Oh don't get me wrong... Some of their statements are just idiotic, but at the same time it's amazing to see what kind of things they say just to justify how terrible they are. I remember reading a post about how they have class and the only reason we have a better football program is because we let criminals on our team.
Shit, I get it now. Yeah the layout is horrible.
made an account just to troll a little. Almost not even worth it since I have to deal with that cluster of a site.
Thank you Joe for making a great website and being responsive to user interface needs. LeScissors is one of the best arguments I can make for joining The Key Players Club.
You don't, you just assume there is nothing more to those links are try to read on. Its almost like an uneducated, poor man's reddit
Yeah, on desktop it is terrible. Easier using a mobile browser. (At least on Chrome for iOS you can see the entire thread on one page without having to click on each and every reply.)
I see the UNC fans' appeal to hurricane fallacy isn't exclusive to them.
Right...
I've played multiple dynastys with VT and after a few seasons, the monarchs come out of nowhere and sneak into the top 25. I know I know off topic right? It is coincidentally ironic though might I add.
Yea that tends to happen especially if you build a super conference and switch conferences each year so you are playing the best teams and need that conferences trophies. Whats that? I have too much down time? Yea you're probably right.
I wish EA was still making ncaa football games.
You and me both. I used to buy the new NCAA Football game the day it came out each year. I would then rush back to my room to fill in the names on the Tech roster. I then proceeded to increase the ratings on a few of the playmakers because I knew much more than EA Sports. I mean, clearly David Wilson's speed should've been a 99.
I'm still play NCAA '04, '06, and '07 on an original xbox I have hooked up. Still a blast.
I think in NCAA '11, I had to move Logan Thomas from TE to QB.
I'm not even kidding.
If you wanted him at QB, you had to but when I did it it dropped him from whatever really good number he had as a TE (88 rating I think?) to a 40.
NCAA 11 was, and still is, my favorite version for whatever reason. Sadly, my disc got scratched up so I've been trying to learn NCAA 14. I hate hate hate the newer recruiting style
I hated the recruiting part of that game. My buddy and I sophomore year decided to make a team and play co-op all year long. He would be in charge of recruiting and I would be in charge of scheduling and making the conference. When the season came along, he would call offensive plays and I would do defense and special teams. It was a good thing
I tried a dynasty where I tried to turn Duke into a good team. Took about three years to get them undefeated, and another year or two for them to crack the top two. But recruiting was such a bitch. I don't think it ever updated your school's rankings based on how you were playing.
Plus, the answers that the recruits would give never matched up with their interest levels. A recruit would be listed as academics being the most important thing, but when I pitch that, I basically got "I ain't coming to play school!"
YES such a bitch. and then you had to do that for like 10 recruits each week just so much wasted time. Im not playing the game to figure out what this made up kid truly values I just want him to join my team so i can hang up 200 points on UVA when i switch to real time and lower the difficulty to JV
The dude that's advocating this idiotic comment even has his facts wrong. JMU and UNC traded TD's until 21-21. At that point, UNC took a 7 pt lead and built it out to 28 points by the end of the game. JMU had a 7 pt lead at 3 points in the game (7-0, 14-7 and 21-14). Never did they have a 14 point lead.
UNC put up 636 yds of O. At no point did "JMU screw up" to lose the game. It was a track meet and they couldn't keep up.
True. But also, following his flawed logic, he shouldn't have had UVA over Liberty. Liberty was competitive with us in the 2nd quarter until "screwing up" as that guy would say. UVA hasn't been competitive with us in 13 years.
As others have pointed out, use of the word "legit" is somewhat exaggerated. I'm guessing sarcasm font.
100% correct on the sarcasm part
Just realized my sign in info here translates to their site...
Commence the trolling.....
I also have registered over there, but haven't posted anything.
Edit: removed my user name from here, so the hoos won't figure me out.
I wish I wasn't IP banned from this site :(
Badge of honor.
Plus, you have better things to do with your time.
In all fairness JMU has a damn good team this year. I know that they've scored in the 70's more than once, and even hung 80+ on a team at their homecoming. Would we beat them? Likely. But we'd need to come to play, because they'd be a tough out. I live in Augusta County and I kinda keep an eye on them, they're no joke, I think that they've got a chance to win the championship this year. I'm pretty sure their only loss this year was to UNCheat.
You mean if you don't count the UNC game than JMU is undefeated? Must have been a hurricane
I'm pretty sure they lost to UNC.
VT beat UNC.
Next question.
This is the worst NDSU team in years, but they're still far and away the best in FCS to me. That offensive line manhandled Iowa.
Um, no....
There is a whole lot of stupid happening over at the Saber lately....
and that is saying a lot. Stupidity has typically been their thing.
You're funnies from el sabre...
-Aside from the GW era, our football program has arguably been second rate for over a half century.
(not arguably. Fact! Second rate is being polite also.)
-and with all due respect to GW, we were at best a top 10 to 20 program even in his heyday.
(Hey, you won the ACC twice. Yay. One of them was even with only 9 wins. Top 10, nah. Top 20, maybe. Occasssionally. Actually in the top 20-read 18/15/18/18 4 times under GW...)
-While it is difficult to have confidence in CBM, we are , for lack of a better word, "stuck" with him for a while.
(and for that we thank you, once again.)
-We are deeply disappointed and yes, embarrassed, about his mismanagement of the VT game.
(???Mismanagement???? It's not like calling a time out would have saved it for you there Caruthers. You got SMOKED! And disappointed? Did you not see the previous 11 contest your team participated in? Seriously. Mismanagement...lol.)
-All this has led to increasing apathy towards our football program which is rapidly approaching an irreversible state of futility.
(It's just NOW leading in that direction? Alabama might almost win as many games in this one season as you have in the last 5 combined. And it's not reversible. You have what you have for a reason. It's your culture, your way, your air. Somehow I think you actually like it; some sort of self deprecating thing. Whatever it is, you are this, all of it, embrace it.)
-Is it always the darkest hour before the dawn?..... I hope so. How about 5 or 6 wins per year against decent competition? Is that asking too much?
(How about just trying to win a game in Central Virginia, then go from there...)
This is why I don't read The Sabre.
At least I wouldn't admit it in public, anyway.
If you must, treat it like the Sun. Take a glance, and then look away. You know you're only there for the schadenfreude.
It's like the Jerry Springer show of sports message boards.
