That kid was unbelievable last night. First game on the road as a redshirt freshman and he shreds it up. We have some good qbs, but we don't have any game changers like him. FSU has a bright future with this kid.

Ford will be here next fall.
Ford's got arm strength concerns. Plenty of good college QB's have succeeded with arm strength concerns, like Dorsey and Leinart, but plenty of kids remain backups because of arm strength concerns.
Personally, I think Ford will play next year. January enrollee and he's the first Loeffler recruit. I expect Leal to be the starter next year with Ford rotating in from the beginning and eventually taking over. But he's not without concerns, he's just the Loeffler recruit of the bunch.
I'll take intelligent (Ford) with arm concerns over strong armed knucklehead any day- Plenty of those guys on the scrap heap.
speaking of strong armed knuckleheads, we've had them before.
He actually did alright for us at the time. Though he did not transition well to the NFL as you may recall. I was at VT during the end of his time and knew good ol' Drunk a little. An anecdote from my "time" with him.
Once at a house party, he gave his drink to a lineman and said "I'm leaving". Lineman says "Shit Druck. Just don't get arrested." while shaking his head. Drunk proceeded to walk straight up to a young girl who clearly had a bf. Hit on said girl and then when said bf dared to say something, picked him up and flung him into the fridge with every ounce of strength he had. He then walked out of the party after having retrieved his cup of beast lite. To this day I have no idea why that kid did not press charges.
good times though
Winston was the #1 QB in his class and a 5-star talent wanted by many top schools. Ford is a 3-star QB who wasn't VT's first choice at QB this year. That's not meant as a slight but as a factual statement. Ford may turn out to be the guy but Winston got the hype for a reason.
Another QB who looked good last weekend was Hackenberg for PSU.
Don't trust in the stars so much. You always run the risk of ending up with a story like this guy:

Fun fact, this is who they turn down to pick up Lalich:
Lalich said he wouldn't commit to UVA if Russell was offered a scholarship.
Keep getting those 4-5 stars London, they've totally worked out for UVA in the past.
Sure, but the star rating on Kendall seems about right.
He's a Fuller.
Still Ford was an Elite 11 QB for a reason. Accurate, smart, winner. I'm stoked about him. The other QB's we went after were elite 11 member too (Jacob Park and David Cornwall)
My friend Ari wanted to say this to you
1: logans miami game looked like that too
2: pitts defense is bad
3: fsu runs a very user friendly offense. As soon as they face a defense that disguises its looks, their qbs always struggle
4: i would take their wrs and james wilder before winston if i had that option
Point is he is good, but how much was it just his receivers balling out? Lets wait a few more games and see. Remember, jacory harris was a heisman contender for the first 5 games of his 24 int season
Must be nice to have WRs that can catch the ball readily.
To be honest, that kid has a serious knack for temper tantrum. You could see after FSU was slapped with a delay of game and the announcers began speaking about how he drew a lot of flags in high school for his temper.
I think it'll eventually come to the forefront as his weakness. If a team can put serious pressure and blanket receivers, it'll cause him to self-destruct.
But other than that, the kid's amazing. Everyone's got a weakness though.
I know a certain D-line that would love to get in his head a bit. Let's hope they get to meet him in an ACC Championship Game.
I'd still rather we get revenge on Clemson, Dabo, and Tajh. 3-0 just can't stand!
We would have seen him in the regular season. Daggone schedule changes.....
We got shafted so badly on the ACC schedule. So long, FSU game- hello two years in a row of @Miami, @BC, and home against Duke. It might be nice to say "goodbye" to Maryland with one last W, but not at the cost of not playing FSU again until freaking 2018 @FSU and finally bring them back to Lane in 2023. Throw in that we're @Notre Dame in 2016 with no return trip scheduled yet for the next decade... talk about a slap in the face.
Yeah, a freshman QB against our D-Line?
Like Mushmouth said in '09.... "Look out"
Yeah of course give the kid credit he made pretty much every throw he was asked to. However, his receivers did bail him out of a couple errant throws and Pitt's Defense pretty much rolled over and died after the first half. He's definitely going to be good down the road but we've seen "great" performances before so let's save it until maybe their Clemson game.
God, I wish we still had FSU on our schedule this year...
To be honest, as good of a game the kid had, Pitts secondary looked flat out BAD. Our D line would pose nightmares for that kid.
I don't think we'll see FSU in the ACCCG this year, we'll be going up againt Clemson...
every program in the country wished they had Jameis Winston after that game.
His receivers were pretty much wide open all night long just like Danny Coale.
I love the irony of comparing FSU receiver's Danny Coale-ness to Danny Coale. Btw Danny Coale STILL hasn't seen an FSU DB...
I came away wishing we had those receivers. You don't go 22/24 unless guys are hanging onto the darn ball.
Sadly, I can only upvote this once.
Oh hey, whats up Dinich
They Interviewed her on the Herd....I couldn't stand her voice....And I have been saying they were back for 10 years now
I think it's also important to remember that this was the only college game on last night. If it was on Saturday afternoon it wouldn't have gotten quite as much attention.
He played very well, in one game. That's all there is to say about it for right now.
Game told me a lot about Winston.
Game also told me a lot about Pitt's pass coverage this season. Can't wait to see what FSU will do against a proactive defense...
Also, alot about the game prep by the FSU coaches. Winston seemed well prepared for Pitt; knew where to throw and what to look for. (He also made some athletic plays.)
If you look at FSU's schedule, it's a bit of a joke/sets up well for a new QB.
They have an off week before Nevada, then Bethune-Cookman (WTF?), then BC and Maryland into another off week before finally getting tested again by Clemson Oct 19th.
So nice of the ACC to ease Winston into his college career.
That says a lot about your schedule when, during the first eight weeks of the season, you have two bye weeks and the best defense you face is Clemson's.
I wish we had Jordan Lynch. Some NFL team is gonna get a huge steal when they take him in the 5th round next year.
I bet logan doesn't have as good a game against pitt, maybe not even half as good. Logan is around the 50 percent mark consistantly
After last week I would kill for Logan to complete 50% of his passes.
Ford? Don't we still have Leal & Bucky Hodges?
Yep, and they really talked up Brendan Motley during camp too.
Meh. Time will tell. F$U is just happy it wasn't a disaster after EJ left. It is more a sense of relief than anything else.
