OT: Charlie Brewer (Michael's little brother) named Texas AP Player of the Year

The Lake Travis High School senior was named the 2016 Texas Associated Press Sports Editors player of the year Friday, making his school the first to win the award twice. Garrett Gilbert won in 2008. Brewer's quarterbacking family includes his Cotton Bowl-winning father at Texas and his two-time state champion brother at Lake Travis. He will chase his own championship Saturday night in the Class 6A Division I title game against The Woodlands.

Heard through the grapevine we offered a preferred walk-on spot but he's currently committed to SMU. He has some video game statistics last year, 257-376 (68.3%) for 3426 yards, 42 TD, 5 Int and ran for 570 yards on 95 attempts. If he's anything like his brother, I'd love to see him in Maroon and Orange, even if it's just in a backup capacity.

Michael was tough and was a true hokie. I personally would be happy if his brother came to Tech. I mean after all Michael never lost to the wahoos.

UVA had a Brewer too...Connor Brewer, he had at least one snap at qb during the latest humiliation. So, our Brewers are clearly better than theirs, on top of everything else.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:

Michael was on with Jon lasser on a pre game show during the season. He's gone into the working world. I know lefty praised him as a coach but something tells me he wants a simple life. Remember Willy Robertson was one of the best qb s in cfb, but Duck hunting was more important, Terry Bradshaw replaced him. Good luck to Charlie
