Hokies get Commitment from Honaker senior kicker/punter Jordan Stout

http://www.heraldcourier.com/sports/honaker-kicker-jordan-stout-commits-...

Ever since I was a kid I have always wanted to be a Hokie and it just so happens I received an offer and I couldn't pass it up," Stout said. "It is the closest college to my home and it would be most convenient for me and my family."

Kicker/punter seems to be a need.

Awesome

Hope he never sees the field outside of XPs and kickoffs

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

So, you want to see him like 14 or more plays a game?

A stout kicker. The right recruit to bring to the program! Welcome to HokieNation!

A kicker named Stout and (hopefully) a WR named Speed. That would be awesome.

Certainly better than the kicker named Blewitt

In Pitt's win against Clemson, I was hoping the announcer would say something like:

And the kick is up... and Blewitt he DIDN'T!!!!!!!

276 whattup.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Southwest Virginia has produced some legs in the past.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE.... GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD, THEY'RE STILL ALIVE IN BLACKSBURG

Ugh, McDonough needs to get off MNF and broadcast more VT college games. We seem to have epic wins whenever he does.

It will be fun to see how announcers pronounce Honaker.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

It's pronounced "Kevin"

Heaven forbid that we get a player from Dante.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

I learned recently that there is a town in Mississippi spelled "Armory" that the locals call "Aim-er-eee."

Have a friend from Amory. It only has the 1 "r".

We don't have to go far to find some kooky pronunciations here in Virginia. Ask someone from there how they pronounce McGaheysville. Rio road in Charlottesville is pronounced Rye-O, Buena Vista is Bue-na Vista (long u), Staunton is called Stanton, Pulaski is Pew-laski...the list is long and sometimes puzzling. Maryville, Tennessee is locally pronounced Mar-a-vul.

For those who haven't been around that area, McGaheysville is pronounced MaGackeysville. You tell me why.

Reel men fish on Wednesdays

You tell me why

Because

Onward and upward

Don't get me started on terrible pronunciations.

My company is HQd in Boston

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Yeah, it's hard to top Gloucester.

Deposit whiskey, receive wisdom.

Don't you be talking bout my neighbors! Another one over the mountain, Stanardsville, pronounced Stanerdsville.

Here in VB we pronounce Norfolk NorFuck. Same with Suffolk.

My wife is from VB and she's emphatic that it's pronounced nor-fick and suh-fick.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

When my high school played Norfolk Academy we had a cheer for them.

We don't drink we don't smoke NorFuck NorFuck

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Join us in the Key Players Club

That cheer has been around since at least the 70s. My mom heard it when she was a student at VT

Hokiebird is right.........and don't forget Portsmuff (Portsmouth)

I grew up in Great Bridge (Chesapeake) and while many say NorFuck or Norfick, we always called it Nawfuck.

Maurertown.

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

Being from there, Maurertown is nearly impossible to get people to pronounce right on the first try. It doesn't help that it only has an Italian restaurant, tire shop and post office, all within 100 yards of each other

He said give to me Roscoe

I've gotten several sets of tires there (not back to back:). Did you go to Central? I won't make fun of you.

I did I did haha class of '14

He said give to me Roscoe

That's "byoo na vista" and "mare uh vil"

As my sister in law in Maryville says "you don't say maree-land so don't say maree-ville "

Murr-vul, Tennessee*

Fun story: my grandmother grew up there and that's how I got my name - but it's pronounced normally and not like the town because my older brother (and probably half my family) kept messing up the pronunciation.

I have a brother-in-law named Staunton, pronounced "Stanton".

Everybody would pronounce that like the author of The Inferno Not the correct way!

My money is on hahnakur

Hooker to Honaker. Honaker to Hooker.

Honaker? I barely even know her

I'll see myself out....

Okay, now I need to know. Is it Hooon-acre? I would have gone Hahn-uh-ker.

hoe - nayker

Hannakuh? Now, I can't get Adam Sandler singing out of my head.

Kickers and punters have always been a soft spot for me. I hope this guy is a world beater for us.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

I think we need to offer any kid whose name is related to beer. Stout, Lager, Cerveza, Pilsner, offer them all!

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Woah, let's not get too excited here. We have to have some limits, or we'll end up offering some kid named Zima.

2026 Season Challenge: TBD
Previous Challenges: Star Wars (2019), Marvel (2020), Batman (2021), Wrasslin' (2022)

I said related to beer, not "pretending to be beer".

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Exactly. It's like a step brother that you may not realize isn't actually related at all. Vigilance is all I'm asking for.

I've got a guy

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

The hoos do have a kid named Zane Zandier committed to them. His clear nickname would be Zima, right?

He'll have to earn it, right after his cleats, helmet, jersey, number, locker, real name, water bottle, and privilege to breathe at practice.

And prove his basketball skills are good enough

And win a cage match against a teammate.

Apparently while un-clothed too. Wonder if that behavior comes from the Zima drinking or if Zima drinking is just a signature of the character.

He'll have to earn it, right after his cleats, helmet, jersey, number, locker, real name, water bottle, and privilege to breathe at practice. losing to Virginia Tech for a bakers dozen straight.

FTFY

"GO BACK TO YOUR ROOM LITTLE BROTHER, THE CUP IS COMIN’ ON HOME!”

I'm partial to Andy's pal, Al

But what kind of tackler is he? If he cannot also function like a back-up LB...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

Always nice to have a Stout leg on the roster in case the offense sputters.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

What's his 40 time.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

It's all covered by Bitter, who has been working out lately, so he's Extra Strong (Skrong?) Bitter.

I want to see a kicker light up a return man or a cause a big play

The next joey slye

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Hopefully we'll be talking about how Joey Slye was the previous Jordan Stout.

Stout for Heisman!

Outspoken team cake advocate. Hates terrapins. Resident Macho Man Gif Poster. Distant cousin to Dork Magic. Frequently misspells words.

In the 2017 Class, Kohl's kicking and punting camps (rating from August 2016) rated him #21 in punting and #52 in kicking with this blurb,

Stout had strong showings at the 2016 UC Challenge and 2015 Dec Southern Showcase Camps. If you took out his lowest couple punts at the National Scholarship Camp, he'd have been in the top five. He has one of the fastest legs in the country and is developing into one of the top combo prospects in the country. Stout's talent is at the very top of the 2017 class. He hit 5.0 hang-times at the UC Challenge in the competition. His consistency needs to get a little better to match his leg talent.

http://kohlskicking.com/recruiting/national-rating-system/punters/2017

I watched a little bit of that Memphis/WKU bowl game last night, I think Memphis had both a kicker and punter who were 4x All-WhateverConferenceTheyAreIn.

Shibest can identify some kicking talent and coach them up.

If you took out his lowest couple punts

Disregarding his inconsistencies, he's a very consistent prospect

Ha, I get what you are doing. But really, what that quote says to me is that we will have a monster punter once he's had some upper level coaching on his technique. Yes you can work out, but some people naturally have 'big' legs (or arms for QBs). That quote is what got me excited about this commitment.

Kohls Kicking must have a UNC grad working the data

My dad has been raving about Stout since he saw one of Honaker's games earlier this year, even saying that he expected him to come to Tech and start at Kicker right away before I reminded him that Slye still has a year left.
