One player, West Virginia star receiver Shelton Gibson Jr., was heard above the song "Cha Cha Slide" saying toward Miami's defensive backs, including Elder and senior safety Jamal Carter, "You ain't met me."
West Virginia defensive end Adam Shuler, a wide-eyed Longwood native whose numerous tattoos include the "407" zip code and the "100" emoji, was among the loudest. He seemed to irritate Miami safety Rayshawn Jenkins by asking him loudly and incredulously, "You play?"
The irony there: Jenkins, a senior from Tampa, has played in 48 games, has nine career interceptions and was an honorable mention All-ACC pick. Shuler, a redshirt freshman, is listed as a backup. He has one sack in 12 games this year.
Two West Virginia players, Stuart native Xavier Preston, a linebacker, and safety Dravon Askew-Henry, stood next to and mimicked the poses of Miami players as the Hurricanes took a photo with a family.
This game is going to be fun when a meteor takes out the field.

The thought of these two teams getting into a brawl gives me a schadenfreude boner.
Those two teams in the same room at the same time...sorta like this

They are a match made in heaven
I am DEFINITELY watching this game. Come on, Miami, take them cousins out to the woodshed!
same, i hate Miami but this is an easy pick. Fuck Worst Virginia.
Ha, this game is like the presidential election all over again, but I like it, and it will make for entertaining television. I'm not a big fan of either, but at least Richt seems to have Miami 'taking the high road' more than in the past, playing with a little more class, and WVU hasn't changed much as a bunch of rent-an-ass, couch burners. I'll be pulling for Miami and the ACC.
I don't understand people like this. Could they not have been assholes for, like, 5 minutes? Just smile and laugh for some photos, all ya gotta do fellas.
You did see that it was WVU and Miami, right.
A kid from Longwood Florida was a punk ass and tried to start a fight at a charity event? Sounds about right.
I'm not sure what WVU's deal is. They went on a stretch this year where they met the opposing team at midfield seemingly every game. With that being said, Florida is WVU pipeline so I'm sure several Miami and WVU players knew each other.
You're not familiar much with WVU, are you? This is how they act at pretty much all times. Their fans are worse, much worse. Batteries, metal trash cans, ziplock bags of urine, you name it, its been thrown at VT fans in the football stadium. There's a reason this rivalry was buried a decade ago, and there's a reason, in my opinion, why it needs to remain dead. Those who don't know will find out next year.
I think he was being sarcastic. He's a Marshall student and from WV so he definitely knows how trash wvu fans can be. Wvu and Morgantown are a pit stain on WV
Yeah, the Marshall-WVU rivalry isn't anything like the VT-loluva one. WVU is the polar opposite. And trust me, he knows. Very well, he knows.
They're pit stains on a giant pit stain?
It's a pretty place, you should visit some time. Please bring money, we're out of it
I actually like West Va for its scenic beauty.
Lifelong WV resident, couldn't afford out-of-state tuition so it came down to WVU and Marshall and I just couldn't bring myself to go to Morganhole. You'd be amazed at how many teams they hate, just because. If you search #HokieTears on Twitter, you will find WVU fans whose Twitter is a giant Tech hate session. There's an account called "Herd Hater," entirely dedicated to insulting Marshall at any chance he gets. I went to the Baylor-WVU game earlier this month and the fans randomly started chanting "Eat shit Pitt." I truly don't understand what their deal is, but I am all too familiar with the hate.
Different social circle, but it's like I say about loluva...I'm glad they have a place to congregate together AWAY from the rest of society. Much easier to tell the different ones from the mainstream.
Gotcha....
Yeah, I just keep seeing so many people on here wax poetic about how great the WVU rivalry was and why its such this ridiculous shame it ended... Nah, I would very much like to see that series buried for good. I just hope VT fans don't get hurt when we play the next couple years.
It was a solid rivalry. Think Miami, if they were a public school and 650 miles closer. (So they had more of them attend games in Lane.) Was great beating them. So much more fulfilling than beating loluva.
Agreed, if WVU were never again on the schedule I'd be a happier Hokie fan.
You have to pick one: play WVU more or play ECU every year.
ECU and it's not even close!
If we could somehow play the cousins without ever visiting Morganhole or ever having to deal with their fans, I'd choose them. But since that is impossible, let me quote Joshua from WarGames... "the only way to win is not to play."
As Shakespeare noted in Hamlet, Act 5, Scene 2, Line 24:
Meanwhile in Morganhole.........

What, did somebody bomb a couch factory?
Seriously, did no one who organized it think this would happen?
WVU football stadium was the first building outside of government buildings that I had ever seen signs detailing that firearms were not permitted in the stadium. The reason for the signs - a huge contingent of fans that wanted to mimic the Mountaineer firing off his musket every time WVU scored.
I'm so ready to shut up the cousins to start next season. This has and will always be our biggest rival.
Nope. It is loluva.
I'm pulling for WVU to beat Miami. My whole family is from Appalachia and they're all West Virginia fans. I can't root against my mom or pops.
I bleed orange and maroon and tensions are HIGH in the house when the Hokies and Mountaineers play. I promise that I'm not looking forward to next years game.
I guess what I'm trying to say is:
Hate me for it but I like WVU when they're not playing us and I hope they beat Miami by at least twenty points.
I'm sure there is someone else out there in a situation like mine!
"I like WVU" aside (we're gonna go ahead and pretend you didn't say that)))), I get you. I'm from Appalachia as well with 'friends' who went there, and M'town can be a heck of a fun place to party in. I'd much rather play the Mountaineers on the regular.
But it's the SOS and regional rivalry I'm after. ECU is, frankly, beneath us in terms of competition level (which is why losing to them lately has been so infuriating). I'll take the renewal of a good ol' rivalry game, against a reasonably relevant (see: ranked) Big XII school over a less-than-relevant GO5 pack-dweller any day. Hatred aside, it's better for VT to play those animals from Morontown (spelled correctly).
Haha! I'm in a unique situation myself with this but I love the rivalry with WVU. It's pure hate between the two and a nice trophy to go with it.
I'll take Miami any day over WVU. Richt has made it hard for me to cheer against them. I hope VT and Miami are like the FSU and Clemson of the Coastal. 3-0 so far ACC it makes me sick cheering for Pitt to beat Northwestern but I want to ACC to beat the B1G and SEC in all of the bowl games!
How a 1 pt Pitt win after Nardz gets ejected for his 2nd unsportsmanlike, in the 1st quarter?
As much as we hate Miami, I get the idea that most of us hate WVU more, so yesterday's result was pretty satisfying. In addition to the 31-14 drubbing the Hurricanes gave the Mountaineers (who thought they deserved a better bowl), we were left with this treasure:
Miami fan punches WVU fan in bathroom line
Not sure if the WVU fan was referencing Roadhouse or he really meant what he said.
Worst part, because neither groups learn how to read good, they completely miss Waldo...
Those fanbases really did deserve eachother.
OK, kids, Life Pro-Tip: If you're going to commit the stupid act of punching someone, punching them in the face is not a good option; however, punching the side of their head is a worse one.
He went to the Jeremiah Attaochu school of punching.
yeah, definitely go for the knee stomp...unless said target is a 300 lb bionic WVU fan bragging about raping men in prison...
Then you should piss on his leg first. Artificial or biological, your choice.
Didn't read the article, just the quoted bit. But realized last night this happened at Give Kids the World Village, where the kids and their families stay when they go to Disney on a Make a Wish Trip. (The Rabbit in the video with the dancing is the mayor of the Village and will come around to send the kids to bed at night.) That tid bit makes this even worse! I was thinking it was just some corporate photo-op thing, but they were actually trying to do a nice thing.
