Can't tell if Miami is decent or Florida is wildly overrated. Gators have been playing like crap, several personal fouls, a fumble, and a couple of trips to the red zone with no points (interception and failed to convert on 4th-and-1).
Miami started out pretty well. UF has turned the ball over three times in U territory, and lost the ball on a 4th down when they came up short. Duke was running wild early but has been held to very little recently. Miami playing with swagger. Lots of jawing. Should be a second half full of bad humor, I personally expect Florida to have a better half and end up winning. #goacc, though

How many years have you been coaching college ball? Frank proved he'll remove a starting QB when they're not getting the job done plenty of times.

Marcus Vick in for Brian Randall against Miami.
Tyrod Taylor for Sean against LSU (and many other times).
none i can ask you the same question i thought this was a forum for discussion and opinion. my younger brother has 7 bowl rings as a hokie player and strength intern and coach so i have been around it but certainly does not make me an expert. just frustrated and being a realist. Most scouts had him pegged for the first round after 2011. He has a lot of physical skills that NFL teams prize. Whether or not he can capitalize on them is another matter, but talk is generally still favorable about him. With proper coaching, he could have been exceptional. That's what the NFL guys see.
2 things. 1, he may not have been drafted but Frank proved he can bench a QB when he needs to. Point 2, Mike Glennon (was supposed to be much better and is currently a backup in the NFL) refused to come to tech after the fans relentlessly booed glennon of the field several times. LT isn't doing great but the coaches know what they are doing and I while I am displeased, I will trash a fellow hokie. LT and WR's are looking better but it's a work in progress.

Imagine how that last drive could have gone had we not wasted two timeouts early on. A 1:30 with 3 TO's in the red zone is an eternity. Instead, 3 forced throws to try to score quickly.

I think LT needs to be in for a good part of the third quarter for more reps, along with the first-string WRs. I'm happy for a 3-TD lead, but I'm still not satisfied with what I'm seeing. D is great as always, special teams appear to be improved. Offense remains far behind.

I don't think anyone has said Logan is awesome. He's made a few very nice throws and has made a few very boneheaded decisions and poor throws. Seems to be par for the course. We essentially need him to manage the game, not be a hero or star the way we relied on Tyrod. Tech's identity has been the run game and I think we need to stick with that. The best drives have been led with Trey or JC and supplemented with passes. The failed drives have involved little or no running.
We're not concerned with winning the game. We're more concerned with being able to have a pass game so that we aren't a one-dimensional offense in the future.
I don't think we will be, but I'm also not making the argument solely in the context of this game. I can see some improvement since last week (granted, not as much as I wanted or expected), but go back to everything Beamer and Loeffler have said about offensive philosophy - run first, run heavy. We've done that. The passing game remains a weakness, but it's should continue to improve.

I don't know the rule on kick-catch intereference, but if Jarrett doesn't jump out of the way, it's definitely a penalty. My guess, it wasn't a penalty because contact was required.
IIRC, the rule states that the defender cannot be within 2 steps of a receiver that has indicated fair catch. Given that WCU's #15 was ducking under KJ's armpit when it happened, I'm going with penalty. A 15-yard penalty is assessed if there is flagrant contact.

East Carolina has a terrible defense, I expect a Tech to win something like 24-10.
There D is definitely suspect. I think the key for us will be keeping our D rested (i.e. offense HAS to sustain drives) to keep up with the fast-paced ECU offense.
I'm afraid our offense may make the ECU defense look decent.....

I think it was a decent game overall for the Hokies. You can't expect the same effort that we saw against Alabama but still was looking for a little more out of the offensive this week. It is progress and a nice forward step toward game three. Go Hokies!
