I will let the article speak for itself cause its "trippy", and it helps the Good guys,
And so I won't have to try and type Coach Kryzechefska..ski. Dammit.

Someone is going to comment drink but I won't because this deserves a collective point and laugh at Grayson Allen:
wtf is with Gronk's yellow tongue?
Like how you quoted indefinitely. I definitely don't buy into the indefinite part either. It's kinda like

Well, technically he could be unsuspended tomorrow and indefinitely would still be the appropriate term.
Any time there's a point-and-laugh-at-Duke thread, this bears repeating

I'm happy that douchenozzle got an indefinite suspension (but lort knows what that means...), but this may mean we can't have TEABAG PAWLUS 2.0 with Clarke doing his best Deron impression.
We still have an opportunity since TBP2.0 should happen at Cameron like the original.
That's very true, hadn't thought of that. It'd be SO much better in Cassell though...
EDIT: Just checked the schedule, we don't play at Dook this season, so there can be no redo of the original Durham Tea Party...so NYE is our one chance.
This is 50/50 for me. In one hand him not playing obviously makes it easier for us to win and thats awesome. On the other hand, I just know if we win without him playing everyone will say the win lost meaning.
RPI doesn't care who missed the game.
RPI doesn't pick the tournament field.
no it doesn't, but for some reason people uses it as criteria despite its well known flaws
A win over Duke is a win over Duke. Grayson Allen is the most overrated player in America anyway.
Still a Top 10 household name brand filled with blue chip recruits. It's not like Allen is Michael Jordan where he's the guy that makes everything tick.
Honestly though, if you go look at his stats for the year, this might benefit Duke. Grayson is shooting a miserable 38% from the field, and 33% behind the arc. Yes, he is scoring 16 points per game but he is very much like Seth Allen, sometimes he does more harm than good regardless of intent. I think they have way more talented folks sitting behind him that may do us more harm in the game.
I'm not sure - they're going to be incredibly distracted over the next week leading up to our game. Even if the guys behind him are better, I'm not sure it'll show in the next game. Maybe down the line this season, but their next game on the road in the ACC against a good team? That's asking a lot
And just who cares what they say?
Put him in a body bag! YEEEAAAAHHH!
Quick opinion question: Which Cobra Kai member was the absolute worst and whose defeat was more satisfying?
Tommy (the one who said the above line)

or Dutch ("points or no points, you're dead meat")?

Dutch, hands down.
Tommy was just annoying.
Plus Tommy apologized after sweeping the leg
That was Bobby that put Daniel out and got disqualified in the semis.
Meanwhile, Kreese told Johnny to sweep the leg in the championship match.
I LOL'd. You win
Grayson Allen is a punk bitch.
Fuck Matt Ryan.
Fuck Jordan Zumwalt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Text. Book. Targeting.
Absolutely!
Not just targeting but retaliatory targeting. Should have been ejected and suspended.
edit: damnit :(
Have a leg.
And the Steelers waived him in August for not being intense enough.
Fuck Pat Narduzzi!
Came to this thread just to see this comment. Thank you.
I wrote "UVA blows" in a UVA hate thread and it got deleted by mods. "Grayson Allen is a punk bitch" is cool though. #internetcensorship
Um, what? It takes a lot for me to actually delete a comment. "UVA blows" doesn't meet that bar. Something else must have happened.
Yeah, "UVA blows" hurt their feelings
That's pretty fucking sensitive of you.
I'm sick of this cover-up. GuitarMan loves lolUVA. The truth finally comes out!!!
Should have said UVA swallows...heyoohh!
His suspension will be lifted right before they come to Cassell. Coach K is spineless...and he looks like a llama.
Pretty sure he just had surgery to fix that.
Think there was a fragment left, which they removed. Now he's spine free!
I mean, Duke hasn't exactly been lighting teams on fire the last couple games... We had a good shot to win before, so this has to help. Plus, now they have to listen to questions about Trip for the next week keeping them distracted.
I agree - even if you say that Allen out doesn't hurt the team, the distraction of the negative media attention will. It is also good fuel for our team going into the game!
I can't believe this "indefinite" suspension is more than one game.
Shoot, Chris Paul got suspended just one game for punching an opposing player in the crotch. see link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9F3tptzEWmM
And, if we're being even a little serious, this tripping thing just isn't even close to as big of a deal as a direct punch in the crotch. Even considering repeat offenses. It's just not that big a deal.
Can you explain why it's not a big deal? The dude is repeatedly doing something against the rules and has previously been doing so without any semblance of punishment. I don't disagree that he's only going to get one game, but I couldn't disagree more with the point that it's not a big deal.
Well good thing Dukes next game is @VT
Everyone knows Coach K will claim that Allen didn't trip anyone at the annual Duke-mas Blue on White game, so he learned his lesson and is immediately reinstated. This is his "Obviously, we will do more".
I don't think it was a big deal because it wasn't really a particularly violent thing, he got called for the foul...his meltdown was silly and he's certainly gotta grow up a bit. But I think a shot blocker swatting downwards into a guy's face in the lane is 10x as violent as what I saw, and equally unnecessary, and happens all the time. The technical foul (and subsequent benching) was sufficient in my mind. But maybe I just played enough pickup games to recognize a guy who is a button pusher when I see one.
Gotcha, I just don't think it needs to be a violent act for it to be deemed a big deal. So I'll have to agree to disagree
I think it's a bigger deal because of the many repeat offenses and his absolute temper tantrum meltdown.
It is in the "unwritten rules" of basketball. Its a huge deal. Mainly because it is an obvious attempt to potentially hurt your opponent and that he hasnt learned his lesson on a national stage each time he has done it. Second because it has no place in the game, especially in the three different circumstances that he did it. Duke wasnt at risk, already up by eight at the point that he did this latest one. Lastly, I could see it being more than one game because of the way Coach K handles negative press on his squad. Coach K doesnt like tarnish. That said, expect him back either for the Florida State game or the Louisville game because Coach K doesnt like losing either. Duke has Tech, Georgia Tech and Boston College before the Florida State game.
I figured Coach K did it because he assumed he could beat VT without Grayson.
If their next game was UNC, no suspension.
I agree with the suspension but I am not a fan of the use of "unwritten rules" as a justification for punishment. In my mind these are stupid, unacceptable fouls (seems like an emotional outburst for him) but I think there are a lot of fouls every game with a lot more potential to hurt a player that do not garner such attention.
the reason that it has been such a big deal this time is because of the previous two. This has progressed from minor stupid mistake to pattern of trying to hurt opponents. All the other types of fouls you list, Grayson has accumulated quite a fair share of his own of those as well but this is the one no one else does and with the National stage, you would think he would have learned after the first time to stop it, let alone bringing us to a third. Mole Hill growing into a Mountain by being fed.
It also didn't help that last year Coach K made a point of saying that the whole thing was a fabrication by the media and that the media and refs were somehow out to get Grayson. And then this summer Grayson admits he did it, and then says he's a changed man and has learned from his mistakes. And then does it again.
Maybe I'm naive I don't see intent to hurt someone in his trips. I see frustration and "lashing out" (that should absolutely be punished, particularly with a repeat offender) but not the intent to actually injure someone. A trip seems fairly benign to me (in terms of potential for injury) compared to a punch or diving into someone's knees (football). Never having played basketball at any serious level I am probably not in tune with the risks of tripping someone.
2 major problems with the trip.
1. If the trippee is not looking he could take a header, especially if he is running full speed up the court. Concussions and all.
2. The most important body parts are the legs on a BBall player. Anything around the legs is worse than up top. Notice how guys react when they get undercut. Not happy, Even on a jumpshot, because an ankle can keep a player out for weeks.
Thanks, to expand on #2, lower legs being especially important, a trip can cause you to misstep which can easily lead to 1) lisfranc sprain 2) torn Achilles 3) torn knee ligament(s) 4) ankle sprain (both high and low) not to mention an awkward stretch can cause torn hamstrings or groin. All of the above would likely end someone's season other than possibly the hamstring, just depends on severity. Fall to the court has potential for concussions, injured elbow trying to catch yourself, amongst others.
In addition, in no way, shape, or form could a trip like this be even remotely considered as an extension of a basketball play.
One could argue this could be called a Flagrant 2 with ejection from the game - I'm no rules expert, but he wasn't going for the ball, was not conducting a basketball play, and he went out of his way to trip someone (arguments to be had on worst case from this).
Eh, sorry but your argument isn't convincing to me. Unwritten rules are subjective, I've never heard of the tripping one but I guess if you say it's a "huge deal" then you must be right and I must be wrong. All I ever did way play church league and pickup games, so perhaps the law of the jungle changes at higher levels of competition.
That said, I find Allen to be obnoxious and immature but it doesn't seem that he wasn't trying to hurt anyone on this play. It was an awkward play, and an obvious leg kick after some horrible position defense, but not especially violent...he just kind of hooked the guy in the back of the knee. Folks hit the deck harder than that almost every time down the court. Let's not construe some hypothetical potential injury with Allen having an intent to injure the guy.
However I do agree with your comment that perhaps Duke will be better without him. I always feel that Allen is on the edge of control (emotional, physical, what have you), and that he gets himself into trouble, plays too fast and turns the ball over too much.
It isn't the actual play that is the issue, which is where I think we are losing you. It is the malicious intent while trying to for lack of a better term "sneaky trip" another player. It is dirty, it is immature, and it is against the unwritten rules of basketball.
I played competitive basketball until I graduated high school. Does this make me an expert? Probably not. Is it a lot more than most people have played? Most likely. I have done my fair share of hard fouls but my intent was always understood as someone was coming to the basket and I always went for the ball. The nothing easy mentality is a whole lot different than the Grayson Allen trip you while you aren't looking antics. There is a reason the kid from Elon got up ready to defend himself.
What I don't understand is how one develops tripping as some type of auto-response?
one dose at a time
perfect!
Caption: When Santa doesn't bring you the right New Kids On The Block CD for Christmas.
So...is he definitely suspended or not?
Well it would not be duke if they did not have a punkass whiteboy on their team...
Guess who is currently going through warmups for the GT game tonight?
...yep...
Suspension lifted... Allen is in the Duke Starting Lineup for tonight
That Coach K... such a leader of men (when it doesn't impact wins/losses)
Thank goodness he's going in for spine surgery after the game.
Yep... more than a little convenient that he does this the day before he takes a leave from the team for a month so that he doesn't have to answer to the critics
Coach K is such a slimeball
But But didn't he go to West Point?
Coached at is not the same as "go to"
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your comment but I think he played there. Bobby Knight was an assistant / grad assistant at the same time. Unless I'm mistaken.
Edit : never mind. I get it now. I'm slow tonight. Have a leg.
Edit again : fact checked myself. Knight was head coach of Army for Coach Ks entire playing career. Meaning Knight was the head coach of Army three years out of college. How the hell does that happen?
Dang, I forgot that he played there.
You read my comment correctly. I can however tell you that the honor code is solid for 99% of the cadets, but there are a few that "play to the echo of the whistle" (to mix my sports metaphors) when it comes to sports (I was a USAFA cadet for a summer and a fall semester).
You mean like he's having one inserted?
Coach Shachefski straight trippin' man!!!!
Back in after ONE game! Outrageous. I guess indefinitely means "until we lose a game and need him back in"
I'm guessing that home game was part of the equation too. Can't wait to see Duke play at UNC. Fans will be brutal.
Cook Out has won my loyalty for life.
This seems to be blowing up on Twitter.
Making North Carolina proud with cheap drunk foo and dope tweets!!
The suspension lasted more games than UVA had fans at their spring game.
festival
I've never rooted against a college basketball team so hard in my life. With the recruiting classes Duke pulls year in and year out, one player shouldn't make so much a difference to where their "indefinite" suspension turns into one game after a loss. You can bet every coach in conference play and thereafter will be designating specific guys to get in Allen's head and bait him into blowing up. Contrary to Laettner, Redick, Paulus, and other hated Duke stars, Allen seems to be an absolute time bomb and at any given moment it can be at 5 seconds.
Two games back from "indefinite suspension" and Allen is back at it against Boston College. The ACC has ruled the incident "inconclusive" but even the shadow of a trip should bring a load of bricks down on this guy at this point.
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18428590/acc-says...
Make sure you watch the video as part of the article because it shows the play in question. Seth Greenberg's opinion is that this was a natural recovery. I tend to disagree as I feel most players would have taken a baby step forward rather than a straight leg lift backwards. Even Greenberg in his demonstration takes the step forward that i am referring to. Not as blatant as some of his past transgressions but still an attempt to slow an opponent since he lost coverage due to the screen. Regardless, nothing is going to come of it as the ACC has made its ruling and Duke isn't going to bring any more focus to it.
It doesn't look like a natural move to recover balance.
But I figure if he is dumb enough to do something, intentionally, this soon after his suspension, he will do it again. And it will be worse.
So, if this was a real thing, then we will be seeing more from him. And I hope to get to see Ferret Face try to explain it away.
If I'm a coach playing against him, I'm putting in a low minute kid to rough pick, rough block out and get in his face.
Oh absolutely of your an opposing player or coach you go into any game against Duke with the intention of frustrating him pay his breaking point, especially after seeing this. Everyone has already seen how vulnerable they are without him playing so you make a point of trying to force that to happen.
A low-minute, large, well-muscled kid. With an attitude. And maybe a hockey background.
Honestly, I don't see how GA hasn't been KtfO from his antics.
I played roughly one million hours of basketball from age 7 to age 27 and never once did that.
I'm actually going to disagree on this.
Taking a look at the play, it looks like Allen and the BC player bang knees together. This moves the BC players leg backwards while the BC player starts running forward, pulling Allens leg out from underneath him.
Allen was in his defensive stance, which has been taught to me for years as having your knees bent and your chest out. If you get one of your legs knocked out of place, you're going to fall forward. And I think that's what happened here.
As much as I hate Allen, I really don't think this is a trip attempt.
see if you can find a video of a player moving thru a pick doing anything like that
I don't think it's a trip attempt
I think it's a kick-in-the-balls attempt
Chest should never be so far forward that you'd fall that easily. That would mean you would have some serious struggles with change of direction. Chest should align with knees, but be no farther forward.
At this point, Grayson doesn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore when it comes to potential trips during gameplay.
Or at least he shouldn't
My bet is that he does not make it out of Tuesday without throwing a fit against Fl St. Based on the way they play in your face defense. He will kick, trip or punch somebody.
If he keeps tripping people, he's going to make someone severely injure their knee or ankle. I sincerely hope it turns out to be his own.
I'm not advocating violence, but if someone finally gets fed up with this kid and elbows his smug face I won't necessarily be upset.
Yep, he's going to fuck with the wrong team and the next Bill Laimbeer will deviate his septum hard and fast.
Greenberg had his been there done that comment after we beat duke....now 2 min clip on defending his motion. Used to root on greenberg and now rapidly getting annoyed.
I'm at the point where I'm hoping he goes to the league and tries this on Boogie Cousins, Tony Allen, or someone of that sort. He would then receive what he has had coming for him.
You mean the Euro League right. That dude is never gonna suit up for the NBA.
Agreed. I'm just wishing he would only for the sake of being destroyed by one of the big boys.
There are plenty of big men in Europe, lots of surly Eastern Bloc monsters that would pulp Allen over there
You know he looks like a LaX player!
Don't mess with my flow man!

http://floridastate.247sports.com/Bolt/Grayson-Allen-appears-to-shove-FS...
So do you think he shoved the FSU coach? It clearly looks like he extends his arms to me.
I know when I fall into a crowd of people. the one thing I do is two hand shove everyone in my way... you know, because moving them out of the way will help break my fall. What I definitely don't do is involuntarily grab onto someone in hopes they either help support me to keep me upright or at least help absorb impact when I fall. Yeah, I definitely don't do that.
But don't worry, ESPN talking heads (coughSethGreenbergcough) have already taken to Social Media to let everyone know that we're the problem here, and Grayson is just being bullied by the fans.
Just curious.....how often do you fall into a crowd of people?
/s
Do you even Trust Fall, bro?
Do you even drink, bro?
I would expect him to extend his arms and then bend his elbows to absorb the impact. You know, how anyone would break a fall. Extending his arms after he's made contact with someone doesn't make sense to me. Dude has got to have some issues to be lashing out at people like this.
Dude's a scumbag. Probably plays artillery in World of Tanks.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me; fool me a third time, I'll give you a slap on the wrist; fool me a fourth time........I'll have back surgery so you're not my problem.
It looks Crystal Clear to me that he is a kid that can't control his emotions and has lapses in judgement way to often. It is like his initial reaction when he is under stress is to cheap shot.
Say whatever you want, but I'm gonna laugh my ass off when he gets lit-the-f*ck-up for this sh!t.
Soooo, do we need a "Hating on Grayson Allen" topic to be started?
That's every thread.
FSU assistant posted an explanation of what happened.
I'm on mobile so I can't embed, but this wasn't intentional.
Or the assistant wants to work in the business and doesn't want to make Coach K an enemy.
This was along the lines of my first thought. ACC sends a note to FSU that Grayson Allen doesn't need any additional focus unless they say so....so the shove is a non story since they say so.
Grayson saved that poor man's life by knocking him out of the way just in time!
Someone with skills should add an explosion or bulletin passing by and show Allen saving his life.
The assistant needs to closely watch the video.
Edit...wrong thread.
Wonder how many games he will have to sit for a broken jaw?
Another game.....
At a certain point, you have to ask why he keeps allowing himself to get into these situations. Even if individually, the plays themselves aren't that bad, collectively, it looks like an out of control player habitually playing beyond the line of acceptable behavior.
I think this is a case of people looking for a trip
Which is going to happen when a player has proven time and time again that he doesn't have any form of emotional restraint.
Is it unfair? Maybe, but Allen has lost all benefit of the doubt in most peoples' eyes.
It's not a trip, he's pulling the other player off balance by grabbing their left arm
I can't even tell what he's doing?
It kinda looks like a WWE move - you know, the foot stomp/downward punch combo.
I've seen this move. You have to plug in your Game Genie and hit A-A-B-B-A-B-Up
Looks like a dive to me.
It was a little bit of both to me. Allen put his leg in wrong spot (deliberately or not) and the other player tried to (or did) capitalize on it being Allen. He shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore.
Wish there was an angle from midcourt or the baseline so we could see how long their arms are tangled and if that led to the defender hitting the floor. As odd as the play looks, this one to me looks more basketball related than most of Allen's other blunders.
I want to see him do this to Meeks! Feel like they will need a stretcher to get him off the court (in pieces).
Oh please.
Stop trying to find something in every game. He proved that he's matured in the Wake Forest game. But nobody ever mentions that because it was him doing something appropriate, and where's the fun in that.
Found the Duke fan
Whoa, man. Let's not resort to name calling.
Nope.
Found the Tech fan who's tired of the hypocrisy on this board. We complain whenever announcers talk about Allen during our games, but yet here we are, continuing to talk about a non-issue.
He proved he matured in one game?
It took at least 3 incidents for people to even notice he was a douche.....now he is proven to be mature?
Just wait until his next incident....and it will happen.
Don't think it's a complete maturity. But I think his actions have improved in a major way.
Why aren't we talking about the Wake Forest player who shoved Allen onto the bench?
The guy was suspended about a month ago.
I think he needs to go more than a month without tripping someone to be considered mature.
That's the point. He hasn't tripped anyone since the Elon game.
People all over the country have pushed the narrative of him tripping more people. But it's just not there.
So the horse kick to the BC guy's nuts was mature?
It's a good think Coach Kryzjwjdbrjenejk indefinitely suspended this Grayson Allen kid. Too emo!
/S
Every college basketball fan outside of Durham: Yeah but's he a dookie therefore douche.
So uhh....
Guess who got whistled for Tripping in his most recent game....
...are you serious?
Clearly acc officials have it out for Duke.
Poor fellas.
I love it when something is so obviously sarcastic that you don't even need a /s.
http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk/dukes-allen-trips-pitt-player-cal...
This one is the closest to an actual basketball foul of all the ones I have seen so far. He made a half-hearted attempt to shut down lane penetration and the Pitt player ends up half stepping off Allens foot. But it's Allen and it was Coach Ks first game back sooooo.......
wait, what?!?
you think that's the closest to an actual basketball foul that you've seen?
clearly you haven't seen this one
or this one
I think you've misinterpreted. I'm pretty sure by actual basketball foul he meant a foul that occurred while legitimately just playing ball and not an intentional trip.
hmm..okay that would make more sense if that's the case. That wasn't very clear to me. If that was what he meant then I agree with him...this actually looked like the least intentional of the trips
Yes, Least intentional. He did a slide step to defend, offensive player steps on his foot, Allens foot remains rooted to floor. If he had brought his foot up to hook the guy then we are back in the same boat.
I agree with your take on this. I think he was saying this "trip" is the least intentional of the fouls...to be honest I didn't think it was an intentional trip at all. But still...Duck Fuke!
As much as I hate Allen and Duke, got to agree, foul? Yes. Attempted trip? No
Compilation video by ESPN of all his antics
http://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/18619814
But remember, we're really the ones who are fault here for pointing out that he has a history of this
