then we can tear them down again
Hard to say. Florida had 5 turnovers, 3 of which were in the red zone and 1 that basically gift-wrapped a Miami touchdown. The Miami offense was suspect and only managed just over 200 yards. Florida gave it to them. If Miami can convincingly beat some teams in conference play, then maybe that statement might be true.
Of course, ESPN will probably crown them inevitable ACC champions or something...
Florida's offense is terrible. I watched the game. Neither team played very well. It was a toss up until a fumble gave Miami the game.
Don't be fooled by espn..
Don't forget that Florida is vastly overrated as they have been most every year since Tebow...
That being said, still a solid win for Miami, will put them into the rankings. We'll see how they show up next week against... Savannah St.? Really? That'll be real ugly
This was the greatest scenario for VT and the ACC in general. Miami's defense gave up 424 yards, yet because UF was careless, UF couldn't convert in the redzone. Miami's offense was also not spectacular, getting only 211 yds and 1/11 on 3rd Down. On the surface, another ACC team beat a top-tier SEC team and the U is back. Hopefully Miami should be ranked when VT heads to Coral Gables, but UM does have to get through GT and UNC first.
It should be when Miami heads to Blacksburg. Stupid schedule makers.
They also have to play FSU the week before the Hokies go to Miami.
The Spiders are giving the wolfpack a heluva game
Theyre in the redzone again! I feel like I shouldnt be going for richmond but I cant help it...
I love my Virginia and DC area schools (Richmond, Hampton, VT, George Mason, ODU, Georgetown, George Washington, George etc, not MD anymore, I'll root for ACC sometimes if the other VA team is playing MD) so I was really hoping Richmond would pull that game out. When I saw NC State hit that last field goal on the ESPN bottomline, my heart sank a little. Oh well, #goacc
SO UPSET THAT MY SPIDERS LOST THE WAY THEY DID. They look as good as Mike London's 2008 squad, maybe even better. MIKE YOU COULD HAVE WON CHAMPIONSHIPS AT RICHMOND.
Alternate universe reality....Richmond coach Mike London saves all three timeouts and ices NCST kicker. The kick, however was good.
Considering that Florida is slugging it out with OSU for the title of most overrated team in the country (at least from what I've seen with the eye test), I'm not overly impressed. Somewhat impressed, yes, and happy for the ACC. But it's not shocking.
So Clemson > Georgia > USCe and Miami > Florida. The only two undefeated teams in the SEC East are Missouri and Tennessee.
There was no reason Miami should have won this game. Driskell gave it away on bad decisions but the Miami defense played better than they have in years. Their offense was supposed to be the star of the show, but really didn't do a whole lot. Credit where it's due, though, Clemson and Miami represented well. Now we need FSU, Clemson, and GT to represent at the end of the season. #goacc
EDIT: UVA > BYU > Texas
I would say FSU and Clemson CAN win their games given what we've seen so far but it's a long season. GT has no chance. It's been shown time and time again (Iowa and "Incorrectly spelled k-9s" to name a few) that a superior D-line will shut down the triple option. But yes #goacc
Jeff driskell is 100% of the reason I picked Miami this week against them. I think that Florida team is not as good As advertised. Great for the conference though
Yet, his stat line is better than Logan's. And Logan played Western Carolina.
Logan - 17/31 199yds 1TD 2INT 106.5 QB Rating
Driskell - 22/33 288yds 1TD 2INT 137.9 QB Rating
I think after the jitters our D gave Alabama, Clemson whacking Georgia (and LSU last year), Louisville doing a number on UF last year, and now Miami on top of UF, suddenly the SEC is not looking all that invincible. I like it!
All ESPN sees is the $. So they are still the best.
So tired of over-rating all SEC teams at the start of the season. Then when they beat each other up they get to brag about the ranked teams they beat and how good the conference is. Self licking ice cream cone...
That vicious cycle will continue until their non conference foes take them out to the shed and give them a good old beat down. That is the sad truth.
Well since they only schedule ACC teams and we haven't been too good as a whole lately it will be a while still.
Clemson started the season with a big win and will have a chance to beat USCe. GT i don't think can handle UGA though.
The more I watch Miami play, the more I just don't know what to expect for when we play them. If we were to play tomorrow, we would be matched strength on strength with our D vs their O and their horrid D vs our less than refined O. My gut says that we would win that matchup because of our running game because UF shut Miami down while Driskel handed the game to the Canes. With this game being in November, I sure as hell hope our offense is clicking by then and their defense is still struggling.
Miami hasn't been able to beat us in consecutive years in the ACC, and that needs to continue. Pitt and UNC also need some serious payback from us.
The most impressive looking team to me after 2 weeks is Oregon.
I know it's UVa, but when I fly west to east, I can barely remember where my car keys are for a day, let alone shake down a D-1 football squad for 59 pts.
Have you seen Northwestern?
