The 757 product and No. 2 player in VA according to the 247Sports Composite will pick between Alabama, Florida, Virginia Tech, Auburn, North Carolina, and Ole Miss.

The Hokies have pursued Hunter over the long haul. The Frank Beamer regime hosted Hunter as as eighth grader at a camp, and offered him as a rising sophomore. Justin Fuente and Co. were able to mitigate the departure of Bryan Stinespring and Torrian Gray (his former primary recruiters) to remain a favorite for his services. Over the past year Virginia Tech's pulled out all the stops during Hunter's recruitment.

With all that said, it's closing time for the Hokies on a marquee Virginia prospect, and that has not gone too well as of late. A Hokies verbal commitment from Hunter would be an initial step to bring top in-state talent to Virginia Tech — a mandate of the Fuente era.

But whatever you do, please, please, please do not tweet at Devon (or any other recruit for that matter), particularly in a negative manner. No matter if they commit to Tech or another school. In the end, they are 17-18 year old kids. Many of us are grown men that are twice, or three times, their age and have kids their age.

Which shows you the value of getting a 247 subscription. There's absolutely NO premium insight. CBs switch day of which shows those "sources" know just as much as you do - which is jack shit.

At least they now show you the date of the CB projection, you can point out all the jackasses that changed their prediction a day or two before the commitment to keep that % high.
Now all they need to do is show their future prediction average, in how many days in advance they average for a correct prediction. If a guy averages 30+ days and is 75% correct, then I'll give them more credit than a 95% guy who averages 3 days.
probably the most accurate would be interviewing the recruit and getting a date for when he decided and then awarding credit based on how long after that date the "expert" called it. 30 days in advance is nice, but I would wager a lot of highly recruited players change their minds in the last 30 days and that's not the expert's fault, per se.
That still is just a guess though. What the heck are (proverbial) you paying for? For some guy to make a guess?

You really don't need to post on TSL and TKP that 247 is a waste of money because of a feature that appears for free. That'd be like saying TSL is a waste of money because their news feed occasionally pops up with UVA news.
As i posted on TSL, it's not about CB's (yes they are free), 247's business model is about recruiting and insight. They don't provide analysis like TSL or TKP do, so what you're paying for is recruiting insight that no one else has. But if they don't even get their basics right and have people switching picks last-minute, then what the hell are you actually paying for?!
I'm not here to advocate for another site on TKP. I find value and insight from all 3 of these websites in different ways -albeit with some overlap- and that is why I decide to (irresponsibly, most likely) spend my money on them. The comments you made implied there was nothing else outside of CBs to be gained from 247 and that is simply not true. Just like there's more to TKP than Emma Watson gifs.

Oh no! Please don't get me wrong, I'm beyond ecstatic about the recruiting and sandman. It's just, as I've explained multiple times before, that I feel the "make a statement" was overused by the previous staff before back in the early 00s all the way up through 2010, whenever they'd beat an opponent like Miami or blow out an inferior team they'd always say "we're here to make a statement" or a number of variations of it, and then proceed to embarrassingly lose a game they were heavily favored and expected to win. It's just played out. Enough with the talk. Enough with the "statement" shit. Just fucking win. There'll be more than plenty of time to make statements AFTER you've completed kicking everyone's asses.
From the outside looking in. I cant say for sure, but it's safe to assume it's part of their larger re-branding for making Virginia a priority. The "this is home" stickers, the attention towards Virginia recruits, the refocus of 757 alumni and this. The STATEment tag. As in the state. As in Virginia. As in the land of which the university resides in. Not just a verb signifying a monumental event.
Like it or love it, I'm okay with them making Virginia a priority.
