"Welcome to the Terror Dome." -- Corey Moore

RIP to the man that taught me so much about reptiles.

VB born, class of '14

Proud and honored to say I have been to his zoo in Beerwah where I saw him feed a chicken to a Croc, and have his doll that speaks his catch phrases. one of my most valued possessions.

An oldy from 2002:

I wanted to be the first to post this image on this thread. Hoping Oscar Bradburn embodies this man's spirit in punting footballs

You put those words together, those are my favorite words, Popeyes and bahama
- Mike Burnup

Dude has brass balls. There is no way I would get near a full grow male kangaroo.

The 'roo was attacking dude's dog. I'd square up to one if it fucked with my dog.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Yeah buddy, more than likely the worst decision of my life but I'd go hell sailing into it.

I'd be more tempted to get the dog and leave. Not sure how boxing the kangaroo while someone films it is going to solve any problem.

But I'll grant you I haven't seen the rest of the video, and if I felt it was necessary to save my dog, I'd probably be in there taking a swing.

Video

Haven't gotten with the times on embedding youtube yet

never seen the original video, just copies. I love the narration

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

Two things about this gif:

1. The whole video starts with the kangaroo messing with his dog. See that thing between the kangaroos legs? That is what he was trying to use to "mess" with said dog. The guy steps in and the dog runs out of screen right before the gif starts. So, it is not like some crazy Australian is running around randomly punching kangaroos.
2. After he punches the kangaroo, the kangaroo snaps right back and gives him a look that says, "Yea, and?" The video ends with the dude walking away, but he definitely looks back to see if he needs to start running.

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

Can't blame the kangaroo for likin' it doggystyle.

the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster

Take your leg and get the hell out.

The correct term is "doggie style" or "Kevin".

Even when you get skunked; fishing never lets you down. 🎣

Come at me bro.

I guarantee you it is like this, just not in this particular gif.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

confirmed. kangaroos get punched, eaten and their testicles are made into change purses for souvenirs.

(Shrugs shoulders). Shit, I would try kangaroo.

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

It ain't bad. Nothing mind blowing, but not bad.

And I have one of the scrotum coinpurses. It was a gift.

Its a little gamey, but not bad.

I had Kangaroo steak when I was in Alice Springs and it was easily one of the the best steaks I've ever had

Onward and upward

From what I can tell, his punts won't go very far (probably looking at about a 38-40ish yard average), but they'll be virtually non-returnable. I'll take that.

You got that much hang time you can be coached to punt further

Actually, yes. His earlier video - YouTube links it right after the one above - shows his punts going damn near straight up in the air. So he's getting there, but I still think we're going to see relatively short punts with very good net punting averages.

Remember he's still growing. He's only barely 18 years if he's even that old. He enrolled early so he's going to get to lift with the team during spring and summer workouts. I imagine his leg strength will significantly improve between now and when he straps up in August

They'll really get after ya

Mechanics has a lot more to do with how far the ball goes. Not necessary muscle mass. (Former soccer goalkeeper)

Then watching that video, are there areas for his mechanics to improve?

They'll really get after ya

Before I say, I'd like to see more footage. Slow-mo if possible but ideally from the side. I'll search the interwebs and report back.

He's the assumed starter correct? No one is ahead of him in line.

Not unless some student walks on.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Isn't there a Freshman punter who walked on already? Kid from Gonzaga in DC.

Not sure who is better, though.

Brian Johnson

And we have Jordan Stout coming in. Listed as a kicker, but that often changes once they are on campus.

and here is a piece on Johnson.

Ah yes, the Honaker guy. Very good. Who have been our other kickers to see limited time that have moved on? Looks like Carson Wise graduate transferred to Carson Newman (Got kicked off that campus once), and Michael Santamaria has moved on it would seem. Who else was there? Just Ludwig?

Ludwig is gone.

nickname Thunderstruck

I'm sad the Aussie punter isn't Brian Johnson

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Stroman is our most experienced punter so I say Greg until shown otherwise.

Besides 'roo gifs, two other things to notice:
- he's a 3-step punter and

- he's not rugby-style.

3 step,,, yikes

'Its easy to grin, when your ship comes in, and you've got the stock market beat,
but the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat'

Yeah, not much hangtime on a ball going back over your head into the endzone. Speed up, Aussie. Us Americans move quick.

I noticed the 3 step windup right away also. He will need to shorten that to 2 steps if he wants to be competitive with the best punters.

Timing it from the "snap" of the JUGS to foot impact is pretty consistent between 1.7-1.8 seconds. It's a lot faster than I expected but asking our guys to punt protect for 2 full seconds is asking quite a bit.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Neat stuff. Look forward to seeing him on the field.

6 second hang time i counted, I'll take that any day of the week

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

I'm not sure where you got 6 seconds. I hand-timed each one with the stopwatch on my phone (full disclosure: I'm wrapping up a grant and all kinds of done with writing at this point). Just about all were right around 4.1 seconds with a few up around 4.5ish. Still pretty sweet.

Is it me or does he need to work on getting the punt off quicker?

Otherwise, looking forward to seeing him in O&M in the fall.

in the other video, he's shanking some to the left

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Ok. But what does he look like under pressure?

He's got the JUGS, what's the worry?

There are some instances in one of the videos of him winding up Rugby/Aussie style. Looked pretty good. Kid has a good leg though, in other videos he had several at 50+. We can teach technique here, but that's a god leg from my experience. And he gets here in time for Spring ball, that's a good thing!!!

"Don't go to, go through"

I, for one, accept our new Australian punter overlord.

Someone should show him that toilets swirl in the opposite direction than in his native land. Blow his mind.

The Dude Abides

Left-footed Aussie punter....I like it! Apparently, they have a great punting academy Down Under that's producing P5 punters at an amazing rate, so it only makes sense for Fuente & Co. to get in on the action.

"That man was violating a city ordinance, and I was just doing my duty to enforce it." - Mike Curtis

I can't believe I just watched highlights of a punter. What has my life become?

It's a weekday, in late-January.

I think of after work on Friday as the weekend.

I was just thinking, can I have that 1:20 of my life back?

The real question is... can he punt better than Danny Coale?

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

Can he at least fake a punt better than Danny Coale?

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

The punting hilites are great... but can he gain 50 lbs and knock the snot out of someone in the open field? VT punters have a reputation to uphold!

I shall call him, Crocodile Dundee the Puntee
