It's a nice rainy and boring day at work so I have had plenty of time to pillage the internet today. Looks like the latest chapter of the Trilogies has been announce. What are everyone's thoughts on this name. They are once again leaving it vague (as they should), as Jedi is its own plural.
****Thank you to everyone that pointed out I cant count in Roman.

The Force Awakens had a title tease about 2 weeks before the first trailer.
Super Bowl is in 2 weeks.
Hmm.....
I would say you are probably on to something there.
Yep I think it's a multiple meaning play, intentionally vague to incorporate both Rey and Luke. Luke is the last standard Jedi by training, etc. Rey is likely going to be the actual last Jedi, but currently is not one. But even if that isn't how it plays out, it works as a nod to Luke, and as stated above, Jedi is its own plural anyway.
Yep I think it's a multiple meaning play, intentionally vague to incorporate both Algren and Katsumoto. Katsumoto is the last standard Samurai by training, etc. Algren is likely going to be the actual last Samurai, but currently is not one. But even if that isn't how it plays out, it works as a nod to Katsumoto, and as stated above, Samurai is its own plural anyway.
I love how the new Star Wars movies are so original...
No one has ever accused star wars of being overly original
I'm mostly intrigued by the red logo.
Not the first time they have done the red letters before. This was the original poster for "Return of the Jedi"
Now I'm confused (or the joke has passed me by) because the imagery I see is different from your post and I don't recognize what movie you are referencing.
The one above this post is done in the same way as "Stranger Things"
Thanks - I knew I should recognize it but I couldn't remember where it was from.

Sorry. Yes I am just muddying the water by throwing out other red text from the stranger things generator.
Kinda like the next iron man:

*fangirling intensifies*
I think we may need to work on the roman numerals here...
What are you talking about everyone knows it goes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, IIV, IX, X
looks fine to me

HEY. I SAID IT WAS A BORING DAY AT WORK DIDNT I.
This might be my favorite name for an Episode.
At the "no one knows what it means yet" point, The Phantom Menace was a pretty decent name as well.
I finally saw Rogue One yesterday (better than TFA) and now this announcement. Brings a tear to my nerd eye man.
I'm disappointed they didn't go with my suggestion:
VII: The Force Awakens
VIII: The Force Takes a Piss
IX: The Force Brushes Its Teeth
No no no. Episode IX is The Force Goes Back to Bed.
If it's anything like me, episode VIII would be "The Force Hits Snooze Like Seventeen Times Then Is Late For Work Again"
Thumbs up from BB-8 AND Chuck Norris

Here is where they pulled the title from:
It goes back further than that:
Wait I'm confused. Star Wars nerds I need some help. If the Star Wars cartoons are canon then how are there not more Jedi out there waiting to be found?
Vader hunted em all down and murdered them before Rogue One
But Luke supposedly found more before they too were killed by Ren. So there could be force sensitive kids out there?
There are always force sensitive beings in the galaxy, they just remained untrained for 80+ years, then Luke went out and picked up force sensitive kids to form the knights of ren, as a new Jedi order like the ancient order, but Kylo Ren killed them all
The Knights of Ren were formed by Snoke alongside the First Order.
I am assuming in episode 8 we will see first hand through Luke's retelling how he established the Jedi again and about Ben's (Kylo) fall
Curious, will we see CGI "young" Luke like Leia in Rogue One? Will be hard to do any sort of flashback scenes without.
Wouldn't put it past them, maybe just some brief scenes. Or perhaps it will just be older Luke telling Rey ala Yoda in Empire.

Would embed this if i could
wait nevermind I misread
Ghost was on Yavin in Rogue one, none of the characters from Rebels made an appearance though sadly so we are left to wonder...
Also at one point General Syndulla is paged in the background.
Side note: Jedi is already plural. "Look at all these Jedi."
I'm betting they kill Luke in this one.
*Leia
too soon?
They already finished principal photography back in July, so I don't see them significantly changing her role, regardless if they planned to have Leia die or not.
Also, none of the first few examples of an actor's movie being released posthumously include said actor's character dying in the film. In ongoing series, they tend to retire the character in some way:
- Brian O'Conner drives away after a goodbye in Fast 7
- The Joker is arrested at the end of The Dark Knight
- Chekov is still alive at the end of Beyond, but the directors have said his character will be written out the rest
I'm sure you could find other examples, but I just feel that the filmmakers would probably feel it's in poor taste to kill off Leia.
For a second I thought we had recruited a Jedi...
If we did, my money is on J'Bril Glaze. Just sounds like a Jedi name.
What about that Jar Jar kid from West Virginia?
What if Rey is the spawn of Sidious

I don't know how we couldn't see it before, it's so obvious, right in our faces.
Snoke is Jar Jar's final form.

I really love the cast of TFA... and it's not solely because I'm infatuated with Daisy Ridley.
You're not the only one. My wife is convinced they're best friends that just haven't met yet.
So, you're not obsessed with her, just the wife?
I'm not saying she isn't well qualified.
I still cant tell these two apart. They even sound alike.
They're both......very well qualified
Daisy > Keira
This is why we can't have nice things.
Oh, sure, blame me instead of the guy spreading the madness that Daisy = Keira.
I'm with APFOW on this
but what do I know?
I'm only half English
I'm with you all. I think it has something to do with her personality that makes her more appealing.
Sorry but gotta be Keira 10 times out of 10. And even she doesn't come close to a Natalie Portman
Well, at least you're half right.
Whoa whoa whoa
THEORY ALERT: Natalie Portman's aid that died in episode 2 is
Jyn'sRey's great grandmother!!!Edit: hey they're both brunette female proagonists, me mistake
because Keira Knightley played her......

Jyn or Rey? Now I am getting confused.
All British people look alike to me...
I heard that there are also plans for a Star Wars that is about the rise of Han Solo. Then another one that is focused on Boba Fet.
Yup, they've got release years out to 2020. Solo and Fett fils are "parallel" films like Rogue One. Not in the direct Episode I - IX path.
5 Upcoming Star Wars movies
'll be interested to see if the Boba Fett film is confirmed. I've also heard very shallow rumblings that Ewan McGregor is interested in reprising his role as Obi-Wan for a parallel film like that.
I'm sure the film and story will be phenomenal. But I would've picked a different title.
I hope Jar Jar makes an appearance :D
Jar Jar has long since been taken care of.

I bet the carbonite is just an elaborate ploy to throw everyone off his scent. We never saw him die in Episode III. Jar Jar was definitely angered by his apprentice, Palpatine's arrogance and lust for power. Plapatine seized the plan instead of serving his part as instructed by his master - the Phantom Menace - Sith Jar Jar. Recognizing Palpatine's arrogance in the plan, he knew that the Emperor would fall eventually and Darth Jar Jar would be there to pick up the pieces and build his control over the galaxy. All he had to do was corrupt a young jedi, the grandson of the one he created. His initial plans were foiled by this young jedi's uncle. Unfortunately, he revealed his identity in this attempt to find an apprentice. So, he had to fake his death. From then on he had to use the force to change how he appeared to others. But, doing so in person takes so much energy that he prefers to communicate through a hologram now:

All hail Darth Jar Jar, new ruler of the galaxy. He will vanquish The Last Jedi in Episode IX and bring "balance" to the force.
EDIT: bad typo. EDIT #2: The Typos Strike Back.
I, for one, embrace our new Gungan overlord
Maybe they reveal this little plot twist?

Really thankful I wasn't sipping coffee when I came across this one at work. That's fucking hilarious.
Funny except Han was only frozen for 6 months so...
We're talking about other galaxies with different technologies. Maybe they have found a way to shorten the pregnancy period.
If a Jedi can move objects with their mind, it's not out of the realm of possibility that there are other things different than our normality.
Shit Natalie Portman was pregnant with Twins and barely had a baby bump.
If you google the question, it actually says a year. So still a possibility! But I'm not a doctor.
one year

About one year. The events of The Empire Strikes Back take place in 3 ABY, and Return of the Jedi takes place in 4 ABY
