Virginia Tech moves up to 69th overall in the country, from 72th last year.
Ranked in top 25 for undergraduate education (public universities).
Ranked 15 for engineering, 43 for business (tied with BU, Syracuse & Tulane).
I did my undergrad at VT and grad school at Boston University. To be tied with BU's business school is a huge accomplishment, proud of my alma mater. I'd love to see us in the top 50 overall within the next 10 years.

Awesome!! Pamplin Represent!
Interesting thing was I did not expect Clemson to be ranked higher than us, but at the same time I did not expect us to be ranked above Michigan State or Indiana either. I guess it was just my perceptions of colleges without really looking into facts.
Seriously, they have a hard enough time just being able to spell "Clemson." They always seem to forget what comes after the "o" for a good 3-5 seconds.
I agree with that...I think being the flagship school for South Carolina helps them.
I don't know how the formula for the rankings work but I feel like once VTCSOM is fully accredited it's going to help launch the school's overall ranking...more research grants for the school, pre-med kids who traditionally chose VCU over Tech because of MCV will go to Tech instead which will raise average SAT and GPA scores, improves the Virginia Tech brand name, more incentives for alumni to donate...I'm sure there are other positive things I'm missing
Not to mention giving recruits like Brandon Facyson more reasons to come here :) (crossing my fingers for Brandon Lee)
Hmm, I might have to return to VT for my MBA, after all!
