Well since the final game this year is between Satan and his son (Fuck Matty Ice!) let's focus on the important stuff, what is everyone eating and drinking? I have a brisket I am smoking with a secret family recipe that is fire, oven baked wings with lemon-garlic, pesto, hot and bbq sauces and of course the assorted chips and dip. I have 3 new tripel's to try out and the normal assortment of a few dozen different IPA's in the beer fridge. Please add your mouthwatering selections below...

I'm going the pinterest route and making some of these and these. Need a couple more things in addition to that and some nachos and dip and wings.
That brisket sounds fantastic. What tripels and IPAs will you be sampling?
I'll be going to a friend's house for the Super Bowl. Apparently the main course will be home made bread bowls with some sort of soup, so that'll be enjoyable.
No idea what food I'm bringing, but I'll probably be bringing a couple of growlers of home brew I have on tap. The West coast IPA is ok, but it's dropped off a bit as it's aged. The intense dank hoppiness mixed with the citrus hops have mostly left behind a pretty generic craft IPA. But, my chocolate milk oatmeal stout is great. It's only 5% ABV, but it has an intense dark chocolate aroma and flavor and has a thick and chewy mouthfeel from the lactose and large amount of oats I added. It's a fantastic beer. Unfortunately I ran out of the citrus hopped saison I made (making more tomorrow). It smelled like orange-pineapple juice, had a bready malt base with a hint of honey, and finished dry with spicy notes from the Belgian saison yeast.
I'll be at flying dog on Sunday, so I'll be taking home a growler or 2. They just tapped a new schwartzbier last night, so might have to do that.
I'm going skiing.
Fuck Matt Ryan, Fuck Tom Brady, and Fuck Lady Gaga.
Super Bowl Sunday is one of the best days to go skiing (along with Christmas Day and new Years day. Done that many times. Slopes are EMPTY!

Edit: Just saw the link damn it. Thank you!
I hate to break it to you, but literally the entire human race has known about fire for thousands of years by now.
And I will be drinking my assortment of Triple Crossing IPAs I've been collecting for the past few months.
Falcon Smash, Clever Girl, Battle Creek, Nectar & Knife, Double Falcon Smash. Hopefully can breeze through all of them.
Latest batch of Green Dreams and a new (Mango Passionfruit) Waxing Poetic just hit 16oz cans today! I'm so happy they've started selling cans.
lmao, that is what old farts get for trying to use your hip lingo. Only had the Clever Girl one, it was tasty

Somebody is bringing some kind of desert and a salad.
There is no secret with brisket. Just salt and pepper and smoke it with oak for about 12 hours. Rest it for about an hour and enjoy all of the deliciousness.
Actually, I think keeping a pan of liquid in the smoker can be a secret to good brisket. I use beer and apple juice with herbs and spices, but keeping the humidity high and the temperature low is the piece people without proffesional equipment miss.
Yeah, I keep a water pan in the smoker. I have a Weber Smokey Mountain so it is always there. I keep it full of water for the whole smoke but all of the rest of that stuff won't do anything for it. If you are doing low and slow nothing from that water is getting on the meat. The only way MAYBE would be if you were boiling the water I but I would hope you aren't doing that.
EDIT: Meathead does a good write up on why beer and whatnot doesn't do anything in a smoker.

Hoping like hell my wife is done with call at a decent hour on Sunday so maybe we can just eat dinner as a family.
I am hoping for you. Been there with a wife in retail managent.
White Bean Chicken Chili.
2lb Chicken Breast, cut into small cubes (alternative 2lb ground chicken/turkey)
4 14.5oz cans white beans (2 cannellini, 2 navy), drained and rinsed
6c chicken broth
1/2 bottle beer (pale ale or mexican lager is best)
3T canola oil
1 onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 large poblano pepper, seeded and diced
1 serrano pepper, seeded and minced
Juice of 3 limes
2T Chili powder (1T Ancho, 1T Chipotle)
2T Cumin
1T Oregano
1T Coriander
Salt
Pepper
In a large dutch oven, soften the onion and peppers with a pinch of salt and pepper, not enough to brown, about 8 mins. Add about 2/3 of the spice mixture, mix, and allow to toast 2 more minutes. Use a spatula to push the veggies up on the sides of the pot and add the chicken directly to the bottom of the pot. Allow the meat to brown, turning it over a couple times. While meat is browning, drain and rinse the beans. Reserve half of the beans and mash the other half into a rough paste to use as a thickener. When meat is brown, incorporate the veggies and meat and add the beans, broth, beer, and lime juice. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat. Let it cook ~2 hours. About 30 minutes before it's done cooking, taste for salt/pepper/seasoning and add the 1/3 reserved seasoning if needed. Chili will thicken as it stands and is even better overnight. Serve with lime wedge, shredded cheddar, and tortilla chips.
Note that you can just toss everything into a slow cooker but this way is better.
When are we gonna get a TKP cookbook together? You guys always have great recipes for tailgating/viewing parties.
Probably gonna do cheesesteak sliders, wings, and burgers on the grill. Wife just said she wants to make karjalanpiirakka.
In the fridge there's some 13.Five Ofest, some Sam Adams, and an unopened bottle of Hardywood Gingerbread Stout.
In the liquor cabinet, there's some Angel's Envy Bourbon and Highland Park 12 year. Also done lower quality stuff for mixers.
Buffalo chicken dip
One package of Philadelphia cream cheese
a cup of ranch dressing
2 cups of cooked shredded chicken
A half a cup of cheddar cheese
Cup of any cheese Colby jack works well

Not sure of the entire menu, since that's the wife's department, but I know there's going to be brisket, and some wings from the Anchor Bar & Grill, the birthplace of buffalo wings (a Christmas gift). I think there will be brownies too (questioning myself why I didn't suggest pie....but my wife's homemade brownies are pretty incredible. And no, there's no "unusual" ingredients, thanks.).

Member that time Matt Ryan choked away a 25 point second half lead in the Super Bowl?

His tears are delicious. I know it's not revenge but this'll have to do.
Matt Ryan's heart, served up on a stone platter on the unholy altar of the Patriot Dynasty.
Matt Ryan got Matt Ryaned
So....who had the worst collapse?
Atlanta, Golden State, or Cleveland?
Arkansas!
Arkansas was only 24 points... This was 25, in the damn Super Bowl
This FMR moment could be the cream of the crop
Tom Brady is the undisputed GOAT, don't @ me.
Yeah, have to respect that resume. Greatest QB in NFL history. Have to wonder how much longer he is going to play. He's done everything he can possibly do and is the goat, will be interesting to see how many more seasons he's going to go.
He wants a ring for the other hand now as well.
Excpectations from him is another 5 years. However, most NE fans up here see the light at the end of the tunnel. I would say 2-3 years, Kraft has already discussed with Belichick when he will be done, and at this point they look to be a package deal.
Rumor mill is saying pats upper management is doing long-term planning at 3-5 years, which means Brady playing until he's 45.
Joe Montana.
Edit: Joe won his without a coach in his helmet talking to him, without instant reviews and hints as to defensive patterns and weaknesses, calling mostly the plays at the line. Brady is a great ball thrower and decision maker but he isn't the greatest QB of all time.
Terry Bradshaw.
Terry Bradshaw just happened to be on a team stacked with Hall of Fame players before the salary cap era. He had Swann and Stallworth making tons of ridiculously acrobatic catches because Bradshaw's accuracy sucked. How many Hall of Fame wide receivers is Brady throwing the ball to. He had Moss for a little while and that is it.
And just for reference:
Career TD passes: 212
Career INT: 210
I hear it, but Brady has done this with five very different teams (personnel) and multiple times with limited weapons. If he had won 5 times with the 2007 team I'd feel you but he did it when his best receivers were Deion Branch, Edelman, Chris Hogan, etc. this year he did it primarily throwing to other teams cast offs and two small white guys while his best player Gronk was injured. It's just truly unbelievable, helps to have the best coach ever too.
Color me unimpressed. Stick Peyton Manning with Belichik and he takes twice the rings Brady does. All a result of circumstance.
Absolutely not. Peyton has three MISERABLE performances with better receiving corps in the Super Bowl. They won in spite of him last year and it's honestly amazing how awful he and his team looked against the Saints and the Seahawks. I'm actually dumbfounded you think Manning would have 10 rings with the roles switched.
I honestly think you have to be joking.
Nope, not joking. Peyton+Belichik+Kraft+Coordinators and coaches=more rings than Brady's got.
Brady is one of two players all time with 5 Super Bowl rings. One of two, and the other was a lineman
You can throw as many disclaimers as you want, but the resume speaks for itself. He is the greatest QB of all time, and if not that, most certainly the greatest playoff QB ever.
Exactly. You basically reiterated what I just said: all results of circumstance. I give Brady 2, maybe 3 tops if he's on any other team.
Give him denvers receiving corp and I garuntee you he doesn't get blown out by the Seahawks I can smell the salt in here
Are you serious? Look around the league you think Brady doesn't wish he had some of the skill position talent on other teams. You don't think he would love to have a combo of Julio Jones and Freeman? Or maybe Dez Bryant and Zeke? Leveon Bell and Antonio Brown? C'mon.....He just won the super bowl with James White (who?) breaking the Super Bowl reception record. And he has done it 5 times with a number of different coordinators. Give credit where credit is due.
I did. I placed him in the top 10 for GOAT (and said a case could be made for top 5). This seems to be really bothering you that I'm not going along with it.
via GIPHY
It's actually pretty freakin great (IMOP). There are a number of names that weren't included on the list (Unitas, Namath, Jaworski, Fouts, Tarkenton, Jurgenson, Starr, etc). Think about how successful those players would have been with the type of system, coaches and team that Brady was with.
"Don't let this thread distract you from the fact that Matt Ryan took a strip-sack on his own 30 and a 2nd terrible sack that took his team out of field-goal range - both of which NE turned into touchdowns - and blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl"
I'm happy Matty Ice Ryan lost. No, I still don't believe Brady is GOAT. Stick him with a different coach and team (Dolphins, Jets, Bills, Lions, Raiders, Chargers, etc), see how well he does. See how effective he truly is. See how many rings he wins. If MV7 had gone to the Pats, he would've won twice the number of rings that Brady did. Undisputed.
If you can't see Tom's greatness at this point, then you just have horse-blinders on. Tom has consistently had semi-dominant wide receivers, a duct tape and bubble gum offensive line, and a defense that is consistently in a state of flux. That was the second* greatest comeback of all time, and that final drive was an absolute masterpiece from the pocket. G.O.A.T
*Belk Bowl
Nope. I gotta see him replicate (1-2 SB Champs) on a different team before I sign off on that. I'll finally admit he's good (even exceptional at times), but definitely NOT GOAT. I'm not the only person either.
are you serious?
who would you say is the GOAT? Michael Vick?
Joe Montana. Did more with less in a harder position at the time.
Nope. I gotta see him replicate (1-2 SB Champs) on a different team before I sign off on that /s
(Sorry MacGruber, I had to)
Lmao, all good. But actually, on that point, Montana almost did with the Chiefs (by the end of his career), and (even though he didn't win it as much, Manning did it with 2 different teams.
Denver could have won with a cardboard cut out of Manning taking snaps and basically did.
True, but he still accomplished something Brady never did.
Ehhh... He rode the back of a truly elite defense en route to that title. Its comical you're even trying to use what happened last year to say Manning has a leg up on Brady. Don't sugar coat it, Denver had a shit game on offense last year, and the only reason they won is because the Panther's OL was (and still is) atrocious and allowed Cam Newton to get lit up all afternoon long. If not for Denver's DL, we're talking about how the Panthers dabbed all the way to that title behind a dominant defense and a offense that did enough to win. Contrast that to last night, where Tom Brady surgically eviscerated the Falcons defense from about 8 minutes to go in the thirds through overtime. The Patriots won because Tom became super human those last few minutes. Yes, the defense played very well, and came up with some critical stops, but the Patriots scored 4 TDs and a FG in their last 5 possessions of the game when down 25 led primarily by Brady's arm.
I dislike the Pats as much as anyone else, but lets be serious here. What we saw last night was Brady vaulting himself to the altar of the QB pantheon in NFL history.
hesrightyouknow.jpg
If that is your criteria, I'll see your Joe and raise you a Terry Bradshaw. Back when being a QB or WR was dangerous to your health.
True, I just think Joe did better, no in helmet headset, no protections for hits, no instant lookdown pics in the tablet to expose defensive weaknesses.
At either rate, there's zero chance Brady would've lasted a full season during those times with the punishing, physical defenses and less protection regulations from the league for QBs. Wouldn't matter HOW quickly his dropback and release is.
And Brady is playing against defenses that have a helmet headset, call audibles, disguise blitzes and coverages, and have the same tablets. Defenses have evolved and become more complex just like offenses since Montana played.
Well if you're gonna go with that, then you can't leave out the fact that rule changes towards hitting the QB have evolved over the decades in favor of the QB.
You both have good points and are obviously never going to agree. (not required either)
Can't we all just get along...
clearly.....
I meant more in terms of regulations. Never said that shit doesn't happen. I'm sure if you tally it all up, there are less incidents of that than back in the 70s-80s (maybe part 90s).
I mean it's like trying to compare Michael Jordan to Wilt Chamberlain
It's been done
Chess?
Well, I would have cropped it to just basketball players, but the author expressly asks that no one modify his comics.
Curious: Who is GOAT in your rankings?
Of All Time? I would have to say in this order:
1. Terry Bradshaw tied with Joe Montana
2. Peyton Manning
3. Dan Marino
4. Brett Favre
5. Jim Kelly
6. Warren Moon
7. Steve Young
8. John Elway
9. Kurt Warner
10. Tom Brady tied with Steve McNair
11. Mike Vick
12. Randall Cunningham
13. Donovan McNabb
Where's Marcus?
Who?
You lost me when you included Steve McNair... and had Warren Moon above Young, Elway and Warner.
This list is comical. It is blatantly obvious that you have some deep seeded hatred for Tom Brady. I'll entertain an argument that Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana or Johnny Unitas may be better than Tom Brady in NFL Lore but to have him behind Marino, Favre, Kelly, Moon, Warner, Manning, Young, and Elway is laughable. Total homer list. I get that you don't like him. He's polarizing and tons of people (myself included) hate the guy but be realistic and give credit where it's due. The guy has done something nobody else ever has. And he's been consistently great for a long long time.
Well then you've probably anticipated what comes next. Nobody is forcing or coercing you (or anyone else on the planet) to agree with my list. However, that does not appear to be the case coming from a substantial number of others (yourself included). I included Brady into the top 10 and it still wasn't sufficient for those that are clinging tightly to the soft squishy balls of Brady's bandwagon (you see what I did there). I've given my criteria for GOAT. If he does it, then he moves up. I'll even concede that he has been great at times. But it's not enough to convince that he even belongs in the top 3 (could make a case for 5). It's clear that my opinion/ranking of him has put a definite craw for those that hold him in high esteem.
You're certainly welcome to your opinion.
I just find it incredibly difficult to argue that Brady isn't in the top 5 of all time. 5 Superbowl rings is very significant. And it's not like the NE defense has been dominant in all those wins. He had to perform at a high level to earn those rings.
I don't think it's fair to assume that there are people here who hold him in particularly high esteem. Or unreasonably high. I don't like him. But when I toss aside my emotions and look at it objectively it is nearly impossible to find a reasonable, logical argument that Brady is not in the top 5.
When anyone puts out their list (which I do recognize is opinion-based) and Brady barely cracks the top-ten that doesn't make any sense, objectively. It reeks of sourpuss attitude toward an individual. I'm just callin' you out for having an irrational hatred of Brady in general. I just don't think you can honestly look at it and objectively argue that Brady isn't in the top 5 all-time. Regardless of how much you might hate him on a personal level.
Ok, well i don't think it's fair to summarize my list as an "irrational hatred" of Brady. Just because (like yourself) I dislike him, doesn't equal hatred. Believe me, if I truly hated Brady, he wouldn't even crack my top 10.
Again. That's your opinion. In fact, I'll even acknowledge that (on here and elsewhere) it is the majority accepted opinion. I'm ok being in the minority (as a Hokie that lives in C'ville I'm well versed and used to it). I said previously that there could be a case made for top 5 (does that sound like someone with an "irrational hatred"?). I just feel like and believe these other QBs on the list that I've ranked ahead of him, could do just as well (if not better) if they were in Brady's situation. I possess a level of respect for his accomplishments. If I hated him, then I wouldn't give a shit. I hope this clears some of the misunderstanding up.
and Nick Saban is a crappy coach. Until he can win a national championship with multiple teams, I'm not even gonna consider him in my top 50 /s
ummmm
I mean, if you were going to go for that joke, at least use one that applies to the argument.
Like, Wayne Gretzky only won the Stanley Cup with one team. Until he can prove himself by winning with multiple times, I can't consider him the GOAT. Clearly, someone like Cory Stillman, who won with Carolina and Tampa Bay is far superior than someone who just won a bunch with one team.
I would trade 2017 Matt Ryan's two minute drill with 2007 Matt Ryan's two minute drill.
And also fuck Matt Ryan.
Clearly Matty can't put it together in the big one. For all the "Matty Ice" bullshit, remember the 2007 ACCCG?
ADIBI 'MEMBERS

I've never seen a QB and fanbase whose personalities match each other as perfectly as Brady and Boston.
What a well crafted thinly veiled insult. Have a leg, good sir.
As much as I hate the cheatriats and Matty Ice that was a fawking great game
And somebody stole Brady's game jersey from his locker after the game. When told about it, Belicke responded "Check Ebay."
Despite wanting the Falcons to win, the boos and slights against Goodell were very satisfying
Despite what Goodell said, you know handing the trophy to Brady must have stuck in his craw.
But now he can point to this as evidence the NFL isn't rigged...FURTHER PROVING IT'S RIGGED
/s obviously
That's some inception shit right there
Can we get back to the recipes?
Super Bowl LI Cocktail
1oz Matt Ryan's Tears
5oz Tom Brady's Tears of Joy
10oz bourbon
serve in a shaker glass rimmed with the dust left in Kyle Shanahan's wake
2 oz Atlanta bitters
10 oz Bourbon
Pour over 3 Matty Ice Cubes
Serve with a salted rim
As a patriots fan these last two super bowls have given me too many grey hairs but the sweet tears of Matty ice made my BBQ chicken I had more delicious
Is this the ultimate NFL version of "first-world problems"?
yes.
