OT: Stranger Things 2 Teaser Trailer

Surprisingly, I haven't seen anything posted here yet.

https://youtu.be/9Egf5U8xLo8

The ad ran during the SB last night, i must of missed it (had to leave my friends place at half time to get the kiddos home and ready for school).

Halloween release date? My holiday is booked! Haha. I'm super pumped for this!!

The little bit shown looks amazing. They're going to need a bigger sling shot for the big spider monster shown at the end there.

Anyhow, let's discuss.

Finally, Ghostbusters returns to film in a quality production

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

ha. burn.

Am I the only one that really enjoyed the new Ghostbusters? It wasn't the original, but it was still funny and a joy to watch.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

I liked it better than a straight copy cat remake. My kids love it too.

Super loved the trailer, got the loudest applause at the SB party I was at to that point in the game. Super didn't love having to wait until Halloween when it came out July of last year. Waiting more than a year sucks, but the main reason I was disappointed is that my friend who I watched the first season with is leaving in August to start grad school at Duke, and the chances of us getting to watch it together again are potentially lower.

The long wait does stink, but I'll deal for what I believe will be another quality season.

If both of you have XBOX ones, you can get headsets and start a chat/party. Start the show at the same time and you can talk back and forth as if you were sitting next to each other.
I've never tried it, but that's how I picture it working.

A very creative and interesting option. However, it's unlikely that he will spring for an xbox. He isn't exactly rolling in money as he is about to start grad school.

dude that thought has never occurred to me. brilliant.

ill wait for the significant quality, it looked really interesting and the introduction from the eggo commercial was GENIUS

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

I don't get why it's genius.

EDIT:

I remember now. For some reason I had it in my head that it was a different frozen dish all together.

Eleven is known for eating Eggo's

You mean except for the whole part where the best character on the show loves Eggos and the last scene of Season 1 was Hopper leaving Eggos in a box in the woods for Eleven?

the best character on the show loves Eggos

I don't think Barb ate or even mentioned Eggos once throughout the season

My hope is that they never mention Barb again. It would be hilarious, or cool depending on how they do it. Like people who get stuck in the upside down forever are erased from everyone's memories.

"Hokie religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Han Solo

best part of the show right there

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

That would be great haha. If they could just completely accept and embrace that plot hole, that would probably vault this show into my all-time favorites list

Mom of the year award goes to Barb's mom, who legit made one call to Nancy and then put 2 and 2 together and figured, uhh she gone

As soon as I saw the eggo commercial I was like "GUYS IT'S HAPPENING"

Nancy Wheeler is qualified.

Holy hell, how is she 21?

Wellllll technicallyyyyy....Natalia Dyer is 21 while Nancy Wheeler is 17, mayyyybe 18. Better safe than statutory, guys

I got real excited when I saw this last night, but started thinking, "watch its gonna be a long time from now, like May or June."....then they said Halloween. DAMN IT

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

I mean... we have a series of what looks to be pretty damn good movies between now and then, so I think I'll be able to get by.

John Wick 2
Kong: Skull Island
Life
Logan
Spider Man: Homecoming
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Thor: Ragnarok
Alien: Covenant
Blade Runner 2049
Dunkirk

All of those look like they're going to be pretty damn good and I believe they're all scheduled to come out before Stranger Things 2. I don't mind waiting, if it makes for a better series.

Let's be honest, it's less about it taking that long to produce and more about giving people a reason not to cancel their Netflix memberships before then.

Netflix can't keep cranking out content at the rate they were or they'll go bankrupt. Now that they have people hooked on certain shows, they can drag out releases to take in that many more months of dues to offset the costs of the quality content.

I actually really enjoy Netflix for all the old shows I can rewatch. By far, its what I use it for the most.

Not really into the new one with Drew Barrymore, Just terrible acting. That one needs to go somewhere

I really liked it, just watched all the episodes this weekend.

Oh, the zombie one? I just saw the trailer the other day after binge watching Wilfred. Looked kind of interesting. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm like one episode in and I am not enjoying myself.

Love that you mentioned John Wick 2. The first one was fantastic entertainment. So ridiculously over the top, but sometimes that's the point, especially when done well.

As a parent and avid Emma fan, I'm pretty jacked about Beauty and the Beast

I mean, if we're going to talk about movies like that, I'm personally looking forward to Despicable Me 3. Don't judge me, but I friggen love those damn Minions.

No judging, I have them all and thats before my kids were even born.

Christmas break had me out at car duty yelling this to kids leaving for the day at school.

Yep, totally only my kids that want to See LEGO Batman this weekend and Despicable Me 3 when it comes out...

I'm a huge space nerd. Pretty excited about Life and the new Alien movie.

I don't understand why Netflix payed for a Superbowl ad for Stranger Things if it's not coming out till Halloween. I'd assume they'd have new seasons of other popular shows coming out first that they'd want to advertise. At this point I'm still waiting for/most excited for season 3 of Rick and Morty in terms of shows I watch.

Also, I wonder if they'll have issues with seasons taking so long to produce since they have a lot of young actors that'll show age more obviously than 20 and 30 year old actors.

It gets the people goin!

People complaining about the wait for new Stranger Things episodes while Rick and Morty fans be like

It hurts to think about.

Season 2 takes places a year after season 1 so season 2 coming out 15 months after season 1 isn't a huge deal

VT CEE Class of 2016/2017

Also, next season of House of Cards comes out May 30

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Now there's a thinking man. By far the GOAT Netflix show IMO. Season 4 was the second best season of television I've ever watched, behind only Season 3 of The Wire.

"It might be dark outside, but it's LeDay in here." - Jay Bilas

So I've heard of this thing called Stranger Things. Is it good? After Top Gear I need a new binge watch.

Yes. Watch it. One of the better shows I've watched in a long time.

If you're a fan of the 80's and those horror/paranormal films, you will love it even more.

I pretty much avoid the horror genre and I still liked it. It's like they made a good sequel to goonies.

Loved it from start to finish.

May I suggest The Grand Tour on Amazon?

But yeah Stranger Things is that good. My wife and I binged it over 2 days because we just had to keep watching.

The grand tour was amazing. Can't wait for next season.

Yes, Grand Tour is up later. Amazon has all the Top Gear seasons for free and there are like 12 seasons or something absurd. I've been watching it for weeks and I'm still only half done, but I'm convinced I need a Porsche 911 or an Aston Martin DB7.

Amazon has a bunch of seasons, and what they don't have, Netflix does. The only season that neither has is Season 1, but that's only because James May want a part of it.

Stoked. I am about halfway through OA now and I am digging that. Between House of Cards and all the Marvels series Netflix is my favorite channel by far!

The OA was awesome too, the wife and I watched that season in 2 nights

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Just finished The OA today. I had heard so much negativity about the ending (without spoilers, so I went into the finale blind), and I was honestly blown away. So, so good.

Yes, the last few minutes I thought were some of the finest TV the wife and I have watched in awhile. The entire season built up to that moment. There were a lot of questions left over, but I think they actually add to the ending rather than detract

My jaw dropped. It was one of the best "Ohhhhhhhhhh!" dawning moments of comprehension in any series I've ever seen.

thank god this show is coming out before halloween.

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

oohh shhhiiiiiiiiit

this looks good!!

I couldn't finish Luke Cage

couldn't?

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

nah man. It was slow and boooooring.I kept falling asleep in episode 2 or 3.

oh man you gotta finish, it picks up and gets real good. but i completely understand that. I kept thinking in the early episodes that it was crazy slow but then i realized that was done to mirror the internal struggle of luke not wanting to become a hero

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

Definitely got a lot better, ....but i think Diamondback is such a God-awful villain.

so are they just going to have that cuban woman as a supporting role in every Marvel show (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist)? Is she some major character from the comic books that demands a recurring role or is that just netflix's prerogative?

Warning: this post occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)..

That Cuban woman is Nurse Claire and/or Rosario Dawson.

While she didn't have quite as pivotal a role in the comics, she was a love interest to Luke Cage at one point.

Yeah, after viewing that trailer I feel obligated to finish it before Iron Fist drops.

you can for sure do that in one night... i did and it was not conducive to my studies

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

Daredevil>Iron Fist>Luke Cage>>>>Jessica Jones.

I watched every episode of Iron Fist last night. No idea why it was so critically panned.

I don't think Netflix cares too much about what critics think. All they care about is how much it was streamed and at least with me, I usually don't give a crap what critics think because a lot of them seem like bitter film school dropouts. I am just under halfway through the season and I like Iron Fist. But I am really enjoying the mythos that Marvel is developing through all of their Netflix series.

For me (so far)

Daredevil>>>>>Iron Fist>JJ>>Luke Cage, but I like them all plenty.

It seems to me like the critics can't get over the supposed 'whitewashing' in Iron Fist and have decided that's grounds to nitpick on a lot more. I'm not going to get into my thoughts about that subject on here, but for anyone on the fence about watching it, I'd say give it a shot for your own evaluations, don't depend on the critics.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

The white washing bit literally doesn't make sense... Danny Rand is white in the comics. I wanted to yell when I saw that click bait article.

Using /s is for cowards.

Man, I completely forgot that I made this thread.

I'm not sure if I wanna watch this trailier and potentially have anything spoiled for me. ...not like I can watch right now anyway, ..the internet at work sucks on dayshift.

Guess what week it is!!!!!!!
